Introduction:

When it comes to early game, Elise is your go to AP Jungler, who can snowball very hard and give your lanes the advantage they need. For solo queue, in case you don’t trust any of your laners, try to get an advantage by keeping the enemy jungler busy by repeatedly killing them and steeling their camps. Always be cautious of your environment. Look out for roaming laners who are trying to catch you off guard and try to escape over the jungle plants or over the camps using your E ability in spider form. Elise falls off in late game to keep pushing the lanes in midgame, try to not go AFK farming, since it will cost you the game. Elise is a powerful Assassin, Bruiser, Tank and she can also have consistent damage over time thanks to her passive and her spider W. She is a strange and often difficult champion so keep practicing and you will get better with time. The Key to mastering Elise, just like many other junglers, is to be at the right place at the right time and to know where the enemy jungler is, and what he is up to.

Clearing the Jungle:

The fastest way to clear camps is by starting with your E in Human form (Optimal 3 seconds before the camp spawns) then to follow up with your stun and Q auto-attack, then switch to Spider form and smite before using AA Q if necessary (for more Q damage). You then follow up by kiting with your W in Spider form. Keep practicing the Animation cancelling since it is also crucial for bursting down enemy champions. When doing the double golem camp try to clear the little ones with one human W ability. Try to only take hits in your spider form because your Human form is far more vulnerable. Its important to not forget to let your spiderlings (passive) tank a few shots from camps. To use them in the most efficient way possible you have to let them live as long as possible while also letting them tank the maximum amount of damage. Try to keep kiting and switching targets and you will leave almost every camp with full health. Keep in mind that the camps reset after switching targets for too often, so know when to stop.

Pre-Season Changes:

Since the new Runes Update it is much harder to start off with a machete, a potion and a control ward. So, for beginners and pros I would recommend going for the refillable potion instead of the ward and the regular health potion.

Ganking with Elise:

When ganking a lane there are many different options. My personal favourite is to fake the stun with your W ability since the cast animation is very similar. After your target attempts to dodge or flash you can try to land your stun and burst them down with your basic combo. In higher elos, people often wait with their flash until the last moment so either try to chain your stun with your laners crowd control or just open up your combo by jumping in their face with the spider form and starting to damage them. If they try to flash, shoot your cocoon to secure the kill. This opener does not allow Elise to tower dive safely since her spider E ability would be on cooldown. Tower diving with Elise can be very easy. If minions are nearby, and you try to land a stun, you don’t get focused by the tower automatically since your stun does no damage. That gives you and your team plenty of time to prepare to burst the enemy down. Make sure you take the tower aggro, you can easily drop it and disengage with your spider E ability. Don’t forget to push with your laner after you killed their enemy, so they can go to base quicker. Another neat trick (which also works with lee sin, blitzcrank…) is to shoot your stun at the enemy through minions and while it flies, smite the minion to clear a path. The enemy will not expect this and you will look like the MVP of the game. Make sure you are in your smite range or you wont be able to remove the minion. Practice makes perfect. You can also jump to enemy wards, mushrooms, plants etc. If you want to jump to an enemy stealth ward, use your sweeper. Since lanes are mostly warded that is how you can pull of a surprise gank.

Teamfighting:

In my opinion Elise is not very strong in teamfights since she lacks a “real” ultimate. Try to poke with your W in human form and dodge every incoming enemy spell. In low elo, landing a stun on a carry is often all you need and your team will hopefully jump on the enemy right away. Try to find a balance between focusing key targets and protecting your fed allies. In the case that you are the fed player, let your toplaner open the fight or catch someone of guard before the fight by warding the jungle. If the enemy engages on you, turn on the carries. Don’t try to save your mates, you will end up losing the fight. Just pop your Solaris and go for them. If you know you are being focused, stay in your spider form where you can take more damage. You can block some enemy spells with your spiderlings since they count as minions. For example: If a Thresh is trying to Hook you, run away from the hook, your spiderlings are always behind you and will block these attacks. Don’t forget to cancel charging ultimates with your stun. Save it and wait for the enemy – katarina, warwick… - to engage. After you win a fight, set up your wards to pick up enemies after they respawn.
