Introduction
I am a Sion main, having played around 200 ranked Sion games so far this season. I know the champ in and out, and can play him successfully mid, jungle, top or even support.
Dominion brings a lot to the table in terms of fast pacing, team work, and instant gratification. With this guide, you will be able to win pretty much all fights you get into, AP Sion is a 100% uptime champion. With this build, your stun will be up every 4.8 seconds. Your shield will be unbreakable. The other team will have to send two people bot lane just to try to handle you.
Constructive Feedback is welcome!

Your Cryptic Gaze is simply amazing. There is pretty much no counter play to your stun shield combo. This ability can be spammed every 4.8 second and does huge damage. Max this second.
Early on, your Enrage is useless. Sure you can stack health, but that comes at the expense of your early game power. Essentially AP Sion is the strongest early game champion in the game. His damage is insanely high. No point trading that for late game health.
Cannibalism is usually maxed last in dominion since it doesn't help you take capture points faster. It is purely for lane sustain or critical life and death situations where auto attacks matter.
Item Sequence
The two core items are Morellonomicon and Frozen Heart. With those two alone, you get 40% cdr. Boots are pretty situational. Depending on the other team, you might want Boots of Swiftness or Mercury's Treads.
When you build Sion, remember that even though more AP means bigger shield and damage. All the armor or the magic resist that you can get goes toward making your shield insanely hard to break.
Keep in mind that during the whole game, your goal is to capture towers. Fights will happen, but don't try going for them. Unless they are easy kills, let them come to you. (The time the enemy is looking for you means less time for them to take towers.) Keep in mind that at all times during the game, your team will need to control at least three capture points.
Early game
With Sion, it's best to go bot and take the Boneyard right away. It doesn't matter if one of your team mates comes with you. If one does come with you, consider the possibility to back stab the enemy team and take their Refinery at the other side of the map.
Once the tower is taken, run in the forest in the direction of the Refinery (getting the speed boost), and stop in the bush closest to the Quarry. There will be a high ganking probability. If their enemy champion went towards the Boneyard pushing the minion wave, try to take the Quarry. If they come back for you, go back in the bush and finish them off. When they run for their Quarry, you can tower jump with your Garrison and finish them off with your ignite. You can do that even if they were two taking the Quarry at first, but don't over commit as long as you don't have your ult, this will help buy time for your team while they are taking the Windmill.
Mid Game
Mid game is where the game is being decided. Make sure you are always going for a capture point and that you are always controlling three or more. Be aware of your surroundings and what is going on with your team mates. If they are in a losing fight and you aren't too far, signal that you are coming, that way they can run to you. This will secure easy kills for Sion. Your ult will help them and if they stand behind you, then they'll survive the fight.
Always check where the enemy champions are located. If you don't see them, you have to know whether they are in the jungle or at their base. When going through the jungle, try to avoid them, but if they are alone and you control three or more towers, definitely go finish them.
Late Game
If you somehow end up in a late game scenario, or as I like to call it, the final countdown, you'll have to play smart, fights are less and less important. Make sure your team focuses on towers. You'll all have to be everywhere at once.
Tips
- Whenever you are about to engage in a point capture, don't forget to start your Death's Caress a fraction second before. It will protect you from potential attackers and will almost last until the point is neutralized. Obviously, if you are already engaged, starting your shield, will stop the capture process, so learn to get a perfect timing.
- Use your Cryptic Gaze to stop your enemies from running away. Don't forget that with your speed, you'll be able to catch up to them in most cases. Don't get lured in a situation where they could have the advantage.
- Use your Cannibalism viciously. It will make fights against squishies feel like butter, and will make kills against tanky champs a lot more secure.
- If you get really low life, your shield is going to be what saves you.
- Always travel by roaming the jungle.
- Don't forget to use the active on the Tiamat!! It can change a fight completely!!
- You can tower dive easily with Garrison.
Oh! And don't forget to use the active on Tiamat and later on Ravenous Hydra!!!
