Miss Fortune
Miss Fortune is the real kind of lane bully, she will out-trade you in early, so don't go for any trades. Stay away from minions, especially when your minions are about to die, because she can use her Q to deal insane damage to target behind the minion! When she's casting her ult you can try to condemn her, but I would recommend just Tumbling to the side. In late game try to sneak up from behind if possible and take her down quickly, otherwise she might destroy your team with her ultimate ability.
INTRODUCTION
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS GUIDE!!!
(Over 450k on all accounts combined)!
Hello guys, I wanted to let you know that I'm abandoning the idea of the guide for now - that means I will not update the guide anymore, but it will stay on the website in case I want to continue it. The reason of it is that I couldn't find enough time to edit the guide, also I stopped playing Vayne recently. Making a guide to a champion that you rarely play is quite silly... if I find myself playing Vayne more - fitting to the current meta - I'll update the guide and perhaps finish it. But for now, I'm done editing it, and this is the last update - until stated otherwise.
To everyone who read the guide and enjoyed it - thanks!
Take care guys!
Quick FYI - I'm using content shared by other people on YouTube, Google, etc. - like short gifs, videos, pictures.
For those, who might want to play these builds on ranked - do so if you feel like you have mastered Vayne well enough and have played with particular build at least a few normal games! I am personally not playing many ranked games, I play League of Legends for fun, but when I do play them, I'm tryharding and trying to improve as much as I can!
Enjoy the guide and also feel free to leave a rating and comment below what you think of the guide! GL&HF! (If you see any errors and wished they were corrected, or have any questions - please comment)
This is my second guide to Vayne, the first one is available for you to view here, it's pretty old, not finished and not up-to-date, but I will leave it so people may want see it for ?some reasons?
Let's go and make a small review of what you can find in the guide!
This guide also includes detailed description and instruction of playstyle in particular moments of the game for each lane(early, mid and late game), what actions you should do towards the victory, overall guide with basic mechanics, tips and tricks.
Also I wanna say thanks to one of my friends encouraging me to update the guide!
Vayne
the Night Hunter
from Demacia
LORE:
Vayne was able to take care of herself using her father's money, and she began to train as soon as an instructor would have her as a student. By the time she was a fully grown woman, she had become a grim warrior. However, the fields of battle were not to be her home.
Demacia needed a protector, one who hunted those lost to the darkness. Shauna used her family's contacts to become the first Night Hunter, and now her prowess is legendary. It is said that those who practice the black arts quake when they hear that the Night Hunter is on the prowl.

Stealth - Invisible: Vayne can only be revealed by nearby enemy Turrets.
WHY SHOULD YOU(LEARN TO)PLAY VAYNE?
Well first of all that is worth mentioning is that you shouldn't play Vayne if you haven't played ADC before, because she's one of the hardest champions to play and that means she's a bad pick for newbies. She's high-risk, high-reward champion, means if you fail - you'll most likely lose if your team won't carry you, or let you survive until late, but if you do well - you'll most likely win because as you gain some adventage you turn into a shredding mashine-monster! Her weak early makes new players hard to get back into game as they don't know how to get back into late without kills. She has no poke abilities, unlike Ashe, Caitlyn or Corki, she's all-in champion - once you get into a fight - you kill or die(or escape if you're a scaredycat!), that means she synergizes really well with the same kind of champions, for example: Leona, Thresh, Braum, etc., but she's also good with defensive/passive supports, for example: Janna, Soraka, Nami etc., if you decide to pick careful playstyle.
It's really important to have at least decent support while playing Vayne, because you're very support dependend in early game phase - you're squishy, so if your support can manage to either damage their marksman enough, or defend you enough you'll be fine, because then you can deal high amount of damage!
If you have a really good synergy and teamwork with your support, you can do great plays! Like these, for example:
Play made by Gosu, taken from one of his videos - check him out here!
If you learn how to play Vayne good enough, you can profit a lot from playing her in any lane! Once you manage to master her kiting mechanics and positioning, you'll be doing high damage to all targets, especially squishy champions and even tanks, your high mobility, caused by passive and increased by ult, allows you chase down the targets which are running away from you.
If you like assassins you should play Vayne, she's really fun! You can basically one-shot enemy ADC in late game before they can even react properly!(Maybe burn and or other Summoner Spells, but that's on your favor!)
If you'd like to improve your playstyle, overall skills, mechanics and increase champion pool you should pick Vayne! She's a great duelist, thus you can practise your 1v1 mechanics during games, also you have to use particular playstyle on her to not get owned so if you learn to do that, you'll improve your skills in League overall! You will be able to adapt to similar situations with other champions which will make your game easier while making it harder for the enemy, obviously!
TIPS AND TRICKS[WIP]
There are a few tricks that you can use on Vayne, I'm pretty sure you can find all of them on-line, on YouTube Vayne guides, etc. so if you feel like having rather more detailed guide on how to do them properly, you should definetely check out some videos! :)
It is very simple, but some might find it hard with slower reflexes - All you have to do is press your Condemn and then in brief amount of time cast your Flash to somewhere, to redirect your Condemn push back.
Let's say: You're standing in the point V, your target is the point A, you're chasing it down, and you want to lock it with your stun, what do you do? It's simple, you first use Condemn on the target, then quickly Flash to the point C, so Condemn changes direction and the target moves to the point D and gets the CC proc.
This trick can easily turn the fight on your favor!

PROS & CONS:
Pros
|
+ Good reposition with her Q + High mobility + Late game Hyper-carry + True damage in her kit + Great duelist late game + High damage to tanks + Stealth with her Q + CC - knock back/stun on her E + High outplay potential |
Cons
|
- Weak laning phase - Pretty hard to master - Short range - No AOE abilities - Low base health - Must focus one target to proc W - Can be easily killed if CC'd - Auto-attack dependend |
My Masteries for Critical Strike Goddess Vayne build are:
- Ferocity 18, Cunning 12:
5x Fury - Obvious - 4% Attack Speed is useful!
1x Fresh Blood * - I recommend this mastery, because it, combined with Q Tumble, improves your poking, it is a personal pick though - you can use Feast too if you feel like you have problems in early game!
5x Natural Talent * - This is personal pick - you can use Vampirism if you feel like you have problems in early game, although I would recommend you to pick Natural Talent because the more AD you have the more damage you do and with Warlord's Bloodlust your sustain on the lane is pretty good anyways.
5x Battering Blows - The more Armor Penetration (or Lethality )the better!
1x Warlord's Bloodlust - Obvious pick for Standard Vayne these days - you need lots of lifesteal in early stages in game, in late game - it improves the quality of fighting and it might lead to some great survival chances too, when you lifesteal a lot! :)
5x Savagery - Helps out getting those precious CS in lane and jungle!
1x Secret Stash - This Mastery is rather helpful in laning phase - can save your life if you use it right after taking damage from enemy, because it restores 20 Health and 10 Mana insantly upon consumption! That means if you're 10 Mana short for your Final Hour for example, you can cast the spell!
5x Merciless - I think that's the most common mastery used in all champions - it just helps you execute enemies with lower health.
1x Dangerous Game - The 5% restored missing Health and Mana can sometimes save your life in many situations - teamfights, trades, etc.
Item Sequence
I made a detailed information and a few tips on how to counter each champion and what kind of threats they might show towards you!
Standard ADC Vayne build - SUPP and ADC counters,
Toplane Vayne build - TOP counters,
Assassin Vayne build - MID counters.
Depending on your lane you want to pick a particular playstyle which I described in further chapters!
-[GAMEPLAY - Chapter 1 - TOP]-
-[GAMEPLAY - Chapter 2 - MID]-
-[GAMEPLAY - Chapter 3 - ADC]-
Playing on TOP has a few adventages over other champions:
- Higher range than most of the TOP champions, because as you probably know already, most of them are melee(Exceptions: Kennen, Ryze, Jayce, Quinn, Graves, Swain, Teemo) This however can lead to lots of opportunities to poke your opponent and deny them farm! For example, champions like Nasus or Garen will have a hard time playing against you if they let you poke them.
- Great mobility thanks to your Tumble and Night Hunter - which also improves your poking and trading.
- Tricky stun!- some people forget about your stun - Condemn - and keep walking close to the walls. You should try to position yourself so you're closer to the wall, and when melee champion gets closer to you, you just tumble away and stun him!
- True damage! - Vayne has a really high damage output, and about 1/3 of it is true damage from your Silver Bolts
TRADING
Each time during laning phase try to hit your enemy at least once per minion he's trying to last hit - that's because when your enemy is currently attacking a minion he cannot that quickly turn onto you and hit you back - so you get a free basic attack and poke - but if they decide to hit back they most likely miss minions. Have in mind that most players value Cannon Minions most and that gives you a great chance to poke enemy, because they will always try to get it, no matter what!
When melee enemy goes for a Cannon Minion get close into 550 range of yours and Auto-Attack him, Q and E him to deny the minion! If you do it properly you'll deny him the CS and 50g and do quite much damage!
DO NOT forget to farm, because CS score is what gives you the most advantage. For example 30CS = 2 kills. The more CS than your enemy you have the greater gold adventage you gain. But DO NOT overextend to gain farm. If the lane is pushed too much to enemy tower DO NOT go too close - you're too vulnerable for ganks!
MID LANING PHASE
During mid laning phase(15-25 minutes)try to push the lane if you haven't done it yet. Remember about warding! Once you push the first outer turret roam to your jungle and other lanes to grab some additional farm and kills!
