Welcome! First I congratulate you for picking one of the best and my most favorite champions! Xin Zhao used to be called overpowered and he was nerfed badly. However now when someone dominated with him, all the noobs complain how he is op and killsteals too much. However I think that it is possible to completely fail with Xin Zhao as I learned to play him better. So lets continue on learning how to be a ***********ing beast with Xin Zhao. I based the core of guide off
Pros:
High Damage Output
Low cooldown burst hero
Ultimate can be used for both farming and fighting
Good Pusher
Good Farmer
Can be built many different ways
Only Azn Character in the game!!
Cons
Slow
Somewhat item dependent
Can be CC'ed
Low Health
If you dominate with him people call you noobs

My friend and I used to debate about who was better Xin Zhao or Garen? It is kind of hard to compare them since Garen is tank and Xin Zhao is a burst dps. However because Xin came after Garen i believe that some of Xin's play style and abilities are similar.
First of all is their passive:
Perseverance is when Garen heals health after not taking damage for 6 seconds
Compared to:
Challenge Xin Zhao steal life from his opponents with each attack
As you can see both of them are meant to be able to lane for long periods of time.
Both of their E Skills are AoE
Judgment is Garen spinning and doing damage to everyone thinking in range of his sword
Compared To .
Audacious Charge Xin Zhao dashes forward dealing damage to all nearby enemies and slowing all of them
Coincidence? i think not
Ultimate
Demacian Justice Deals damage according to how much hp their opponent has lost
Compared To
Crescent Sweep which deals damage to how much hp their opponent currently has.
Both their ultimates has a smiliar base.

I think the rune page is pretty self explanatory but for the beginners ill try my best to explain it.
Desolation:
I think that almost every dps hero needs Desolation runes. You might have 250+ attack but what if the other person has 200 armor? Well then you are screwed
Vitality:
Like i said before Xin has extreamly low health. And since with the recent fortitude nerfs. Those runes are no longer useful. And I dont stack armor or magic resist runes because what if one team has all mages or all dps? You never know what you are going up against.

My two preferred spells are Ghost and Exhaust. I use the both improved versions of those.
Optionals
Flash A quick get away but after recent nerfs to it i don't feel its as helpful as before.
Fortify
LMAO ROFL NOOOOB ONLY NEWBIES USE THAT! GTFO SCRUB!
WRONG. Fortify is very effective when soloing a lane or saving a tower. Try it! it will annoy the living hell out of your opponents.
Ignite
Very helpful in getting a first blood or early game kill also it CRIPPLES Dr. Mundo badly
Clairvoyance
Playing as Xin you wouldn't really take this spell unless you feel you don't Exhaust because you are so pro

You will start of with a Dorans Shield. Now why not a Dorans Blade? well simply because Xin starts off with a pretty good base attack and has natural regen per attack so, rather its much more safer with a shield. After this we build a Wriggle's Lantern and a Wit's End
I understand that this is a very different build rather than the standard Phantom Dancer with Frozen Mallet combo. See I used to use those builds but after a while they just didn't work for me unless i was super fed in the beginning. So i started working on a build that would work even if you didn't get that many kills in the beginning.
You will build a Wriggle's Lantern first if the enemy you are laning against is high in melee and dps
You will build a Wit's End first if the enemy you are laning against is high in magic and stuns
After that you obtain a boots of the following
Boots will be upgraded according to how your and the other team is made of.
If the enemy team is heavy in dps then Ninja Tabi
If the enemy team is heavy of CC then Mercury's Treads
If the enemy team is a bunch of noobs then Berserker Greaves
Reasoning behind the Wriggle's Lantern and Wit's End
When i was experimenting with new items, i tired to stay away from the standard Phantom Dancer with Frozen Mallet combo. i tried to make a Xin that would live longer than 3 seconds in a team fight yet still be able to deal high amounts of damage. I wanted Xin to have armor and magic resist yet still deal out high damage without having to rely on lifesteal. So i came up with this
Wriggle's Lantern:this is a great item because it provides attack damage, armor, and lifesteal. Its cheap and it gives a free ward every 3 minutes. Very effective in both early and late game.
Wit's End:This item is the anti mage. Mages will hate you for having this because it removes their mana and returns it in damage. It also provides 40% attack speed as well as a decent amount of magic resist.

I can easily say that the first three items are a MUST. however from there you can start flexing your muscles and seeing what the enemy is made of. In the cheat sheet i ussually get a Banshee's Veil because it provides both health mana and magic resist. Also the passive is helpful. For example it can save you from being shroomed by Teemo or an ultimate like Lux or Karthus.
Other very good options in place of Banshee's Veil
Against DPS
Thornmail
Bye Bye DPS. It also provides the most armor in the game
Frozen Heart
Good for chasing down people and also give a little extra mana. Second most armor in the game. And with the cooldown reduction you will be spamming your skills all over the place.
Randuin's Omen
This provides armor, health, regen, and cooldown reduction. who WOULDN'T want this item?
Against Casters and Nukers
Hexdrinker
This item is EXTREAMLY effective early game. It can save your life and it provides attack damage.
Force of Nature
Provides the most magic resist and give movement speed and health regen.
After choosing our defensive item, i we move onto Black Cleaver. I onece again feel this is a must. With its damage bonus and armor reduction, this can benefit both you and your team. This literally makes tanks useless.
After that i got Youmuu's Ghostblade, this item provides armor penetration as well as cooldown. Even a little crit chance to help you finish your opponent off. However i do not always take this item. If your one defensive item isn't enough. Go back up and choose another one.

Early Game
In early game its best to farm as much as you can. Remember to start with Doran's Shield. It gives you increased survivability which is essential in early game. You really want to get your Trinity Force as fast as possible. Because of the sheen proc, its makes it a good item to combine with your Audacious Charge and Three Talon Strike. Make sure you and your partner are harassing them as much as possible. I know Xin has low mana early game, so try to save your Audacious Charge. If you are getting pushed back then stay near your tower and steal life with your passive.
Mid Game
In mid game, you have two options. You can either start ganking or keep farming and try to kill the tower. Only gank if you know for sure that you can pull off the kill. Because if you don't, you risk losing valuable exp and last hits. By now you should have your Trinity Force and boots depending on how well you farmed and any early game kills
Late Game
By now you should be working around in teamfights. Make sure you initiate with your Audacious Charge and then Crescent Sweep. Make sure your teammates know that you are going to initiate otherwise you are just wasting your life for nothing.

This is a part of the guide im not sure how you will like it. Im going to tell you all of Xin's weakness in hopes that you can find answers to them that i never thought of.
Mages
Casters and stunners like Lux and Ryze have always been troublesome for Xin. Because of their long rage snares, they do damage as well as stunning you. I try recommending the use of Hexdrinker in early game but it isnt that helpful late game.
Snipable.
By this i mean that Nidalee's spear and other long range attacks such as Twitch's ultimate.
Mana Dependent
Honestly you need me to explain this to you?
I haven't played Xin in a long time so i don't remember all of his weaknesses. If you remember some leave a comment and ill add them hear if i cant think of a solution!

And there you have it! One of the best ways to play Xin Zhao
Whenever Jarvan III, the king of Demacia, delivers one of his rallying speeches from the glinting marble balcony atop the Royal Palace, Xin Zhao is at his side. Coined the Seneschal of Demacia, Xin Zhao is the personal steward of the Lightshield Dynasty. His enigmatic, silent vigil has led to an abundance of conjecture concerning his ''secret life'' and origins. Whether it's ''Zaun double-agent'' tendered at the dinner table or ''indebted rune mage'' mused in the editorials of the ''Demacian Constant'', Xin Zhao betrays no hints to sate the curiosity of the masses... for good reason.
Prior to the formation of the League, Noxus was renowned for a spectacle called The Fleshing. It was a gladiatorial event with a cruel twist: as a fighter won matches, his number of opponents (generally prisoners of war) fought simultaneously would increase. This meant eventual death for every contender, but with unparalleled glory. Xin Zhao, known then as Viscero, was slated to face 300 soldiers, nearly six times the previous record. This was clearly meant to be his final match. Jarvan II, hearing of this unprescedented feat, infiltrated the arena to offer him an alternative: serve Demacia and punish those who ultimately sentence him to death in exchange for his freedom. Xin Zhao accepted, astonished that a king would risk his own life on his behalf. Under the cover of a prearranged Demacian assault on Noxus, Jarvan liberated Xin Zhao and his 300 opponents. During their retreat, Xin Zhao took a poisoned dart meant for Jarvan. This act of loyalty, from a man who vowed no allegiance, earned Xin Zhao a spot at his side until the day the king died. Now in the service of his son, Jarvan III, Xin Zhao is stepping into a new ring - the Fields of Justice - to fight for his adopted country and to honor the legacy of the man who gave purpose to his life.
''Death is inevitable, one can only avoid defeat.'' - Demacian Manual of Arms
Xin Zhao's joke is a reference to the joke of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
