Introduction

Hello everyone this is Vixox, and welcome to my first guide introducing the new champion Elise. Although she is a relatively new champion to the roster, I'll attempt to share my experience and knowledge for this champion so far.

Elise in my experience works best when jungling. although it is possible to lane with this champion, due to her CC, burst damage and gap closer, I believe the jungle is much more suited to Elise's kit, however I have included an AP build alternative if you wish to lane instead.

In all honesty her kit is not difficult to get accustomed to, it's simply using her skills in the right combination, as such pulling it off right will show satisfying results, almost as satisfying as Darius's Noxian Guillotine

Pros + Cons

Like every champion Elise has her pros and cons, however it's being aware of both of which allows the player to understand the champion and playing cautiously to work around the cons and use the pro's effectively. As listed below her ability can initiate a successful gank, securing a kill early on, however if used too early and they you could miss out on securing an easy kill.

Runes

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

As this is a jungle build I've attempted to secure for more armour early game in the jungle, flat out and for more AP skill based damage, the extra damage helps early on with farming in the jungle and dealing out damage when ganking, the same applies with this simply compliments the AP based runes, allowing an extra punch to your damage output.

Nothing too complicated, quite a simple rune set-up which eases you into early game pretty nicely, in terms of damage/sustain.

Abilities and Combinations

The Kit provided to Elise is truly fascinating, she is provided with CC, an escaping and gap closing ability, insane burst damage and the ability to transform from human to spider form almost every 3 seconds allowing great utilisation between skills and pulling off some deadly combos. I will include the combo sequence at the bottom of this section.
SPACE SPACE SPACE SPACE SPACE SPACE

SPACE
This is Elise's passive, upon leveling your ultimate you receive 2/3/4/5 more spiderlings. Each time you use an ability, the passive will generate an extra spiderling (abilities must be used in human form), upon activating your ultimate, depending on how many abilities you used, will determine how many spiderlings are released. Combined with this passive can unload some nice damage.

Fun Fact: The spiderlings can also be used defensively timing your ultimate at the correct time can prevent you from taking damage, hitting the spiderlings instead. for example, if you time your spider transformation at the right time, you can avoid Blitzcrank's pulling a spiderling instead!

This ability can be extremely hard hitting due to the % damage built into this skill, in simple terms, the higher the current health of the enemy, the harder this skill will hit, including the initial damage with the levelling of the skill, what's great is after using you can initiate your ultimate and use the same skill again, when used in spiderform, this skill then bases the damage % based on the health missing which is great for last hitting.

Volatile spidering is a great harassing ability, not only does it hit hard, but it prioritises enemy champions over minions similar to Maokai's . This skill can be used for both harassing and sending into the brushes to scout (bare in mind it will detonate shortly if it does not arrive at an enemy of minion). Skittering Frenzy is the ability used in spider form, passively it gives Elise and her spiderlings 5/10/15/20/25% attack speed. upon activation Elise and her spiderlings gain attack speed 60/80/100/120/140 for 3 seconds aswell as being granted a small heal 4 + 2% of AP as health! Fantastic for jungling!

In human form Elise is provided with a 1.5s stun skill shot, locking the champion or minion if you miss, in place. Absolutely wonderful for catching enemy champions off guard and securing a nice gank (hopefully a kill), it can also be utilised against escaping champions or simply to escape yourself, for example Cocoon > spiderform > flash. On the otherhand in spiderform you are equipped with an astonishing 2 second un-targetable gap! Elise lifts her self in the air (along with her spiderlings). However you will still take D.O.T based damage (damage over time) such as . Within this 2 second gap, Elise can reveal hidden enemies, great for scouting. Upon activating this skill, you can only land on enemy units such as champs>creeps otherwise she will simply return to the spot you activated the skill on, which can leave you extremely vunerable. If used correctly you can avoid ultimates, avoid ganks and so forth.

This is the skill that gives you a nice edge at the beginning of the game, activating in human form and then in spiderform on creeps in the jungle, helps you clear it at a nice rate, not only that, but the spiderform grants you increased damage and movement speed, aswell as armour and magic resistance, she is also accompanied by 2 spiderlings! pretty good stuff for level 1.

Combination Sequence

As stated earlier, this is my preffered combination sequence, begin the initiation in Human form. Please note: on the 7th skill you have either two choices, to onto the enemy, activate return to human form and finish using + . Or return back to human form and bail, either way you will have helped secure a kill or pushed the enemy champion from their lane.

This skill sequence is only relevant till after level 3

Additional Items

It's always important to keep in mind that whatever game you play your build is the important factor and the majority of games you will have to alter your build to match the games perspective, otherwise you will find yourself dying a lot, as such it's important to keep viable options open to you depending on the flow of the game, these are simple factors such as building magic resist against a heavy AP team and vice versa for AD. According to this I will post some viable additional items that may want to be considered during a game.

Abyssal scepter: A suitable item and probably a must for going against a heavy AP team, or even if an AP champ i.e. Katarina (for example) is giving you a tough time. The extra AP is nice, and the MR and the reducing MR aura works nice in team fights and in general 1v1's, I highly recommend. Note: This is in regards to the jungle build

Deathfire grasp: A complete optional item, it's a relatively good choice if you find yourself falling behind. The initial instant % damage is still viable and great for bursting down enemy champs. Take it if you really need it.

Sorcerer's shoes: If you find yourself lacking in terms of damage output, you can always compensate for these instead of going for speed with , entirely optional, take these if you prefer the extra damage output. Note: This is in regards to the jungle build

Void staff: Extra AP and 40% Magic penetration, this item choice is pretty much self explanatory, more damage, harder hitting, great for hitting tanks hard and taking down squishes faster. your choice on this one.

Zhonyas hourglass: Recommended by most people, great against heavy AD teams and the extra AP is always nice, the 2 second un-targetable built in works pretty damn well with Elise. Take this item over if preferred.

Jungling

In this section I will be briefly explaining the jungle rotation for Elise along with a pretty map picture and a video! The video was just a quick brief PVP match to show the build and jungle rotation for you to see and try yourself if you fancy.

Key:

Blue represents the bottom teams jungle path (if you are bottom)
Red represents the top teams jungle path (if you are top)

The vision ward represents a must place area, a pretty standard rule, placing a ward here will alert your lanes for incoming champions, it's also to keep you aware of baron being attacked.
sight ward The sight wards represent optional warding areas, either to prevent counter jungling, and other areas that are nice to be notified about.

As shown in the video, start off with your in human form, switch to spider form and use again. after taking the blue buff level your . As shown in the video proceed in human form, activate your 'w' then 'q' switch to spider form and repeat.
So the rotation shall be:
SPACE SPACE SPACE SPACE SPACE
Ancient Golem >
SPACE
Giant Wolf >
SPACE
Wraith >
SPACE
Big Golem >
SPACE
Lizard Elder

After this rotation, head back to the wraiths > wolves then recall, you should have 700g by this point.
Now this simply comes down to checking the map and seeing how your team is doing, is your team mate in need of help? gank, are the enemy pushing to close to your turret? gank. If not, continue with farming in the jungle and proceed towards getting your and . If your team mate is in trouble, proceed with starting in human form approach the lane, open up with your skill shot stun and proceed with the combination sequence I have created above.
