Master Yi Build
Not Updated For Current Season
Hello everybody, and welcome to another of my mobafire guides - I've worked hard to make this guide helpful, yet compact so please leave a rating, and your thoughts on my work - Hope you enjoy! ;)
Before you move on, I would like to ask you guys a favor, please please please... Don’t just downvote my guide, give me critics, or any source of reason why you downvote at least. There's nothing worse than getting random dislikes, when you can’t do anything about it.
- Thanks! ^^
Oh, and if you play on West, just add me.. My ingame name is Kadunz - See you ingame! ^^
Oh, and before you start reading on - I would like to say this thing, which you should always remember:
Don’t just play 100% like I say in this guide, adapt to Master Yi, find YOUR playstyle, and what you think is best for him! ;)
When to pick Master Yi
A Master Yi spotlight
Green = Positive that this will be done in a near future.
Orange = Not sure when it will be done, but it will come at some point!
Red = May not come at all, but i hope i'll be able to make it.
- A heavy nuke build require lots of practice and lots of time to master, since you need to know when you can use your abilities and how to use them effective. This is considered a build for pros! (many people might think it's an right click and win build) but try it out in ranked
- build two is a more defensive build which often gets less focused, since you got tons of HP and doesn't do the high amount of damage as build one, this is for less experienced players
19,95 armor pen + 50%
attack speed: + 91%
Price for full build: 15485
Note: Cheap build with high armor penetration and some nice attack speed
21,6 armor pen + 10%
attack speed: + 50%
Price for full build: 19080
Note: Expensive build with focus on tankiness first and damage later on (decent attack speed and armor pen)
Pros / Cons
- Does tons of damage really quick with build one
- Can escape easily
- Hard to counter (a thornmail doesn't counter your lifesteal)
- Among the highest attack speed ingame
- Can be pretty tanky and still do damage
THIS IS A MUST FOR JUNGLERS !!! NEVER TAKE ANYTHING ELSE!
21/09/00 or 21/00/09
The 21/09/00 build:
This is the more "defensive" build and can easily be used for a fast jungle clear time and still be really healthy when you get out of the jungle and gank
The 21/00/09 build:
Since Yi doesn't really need the defensive stats utility can provide him with longer buff time, movement speed and mana regen a perfect setup for a Yi, but if you don't have flash pick
I start by maxing out Alpha Strike (Q) since it provides you with the fastest clear time in the jungle i pick a point in Wuju Style (E) cause it gives you a fast time without having to rely on Alpha Strike's procs. I pick on level in Meditate (W) at lvl 4 for surviving stuff such as igntie and other dots, but also if there's an karthus it really helps.
You could go for a Q -> E without taking a point in Meditate at level 4
Basic overview over Master Yi's abilities and a short description on them
Master Yi strikes twice every 7th attack.
This is a Godlike! ability it allows you to hit twice in one attack which increases your damage a lot
To use this most effective keep it up when you want to gank and by activating Wuju Style (E) before you attack you get a double attack which both benefits from your Wuju Style - If there's multiple targets use Highlander (R) to refresh cooldown on your abilities when you kill a target (you often do)
Master Yi leaps across the battlefield with blinding speed, dealing magic damage to multiple units in his path with a chance to deal bonus magic damage to minions.
Master Yi leaps across the battlefield striking up to 4 enemies, dealing magic damage to each enemy with an increasing chance to deal 400 bonus magic damage to minions.
This ability allows you to clear the jungle ekstremly fast and it's your close gap when you gank
To use this most effective be ready to dodge ult, skillshots and everything else, it makes you untargetable which can benefit you a lot, if you're getting focused hard either use it on creeps nearby to get away or if the enemy team are about to get cc'ed to the ground find the carry, but think fast. But be careful when you use it, if the enemy predict you targeted them they can either move in between their team or even a tower cause you will appear next to them (don't ever alpha strike near their spawn platform) it also cost a lot of mana and you simply does not have that and your Highlander (ultimate) are top priority for spending your mana.
Master Yi rejuvinates his body by focus of mind, restoring health and increasing his armor and magic resistance for a short time.
Master Yi channels, restoring health over 5 seconds. While channeling, Master Yi gains armor and magic resistance. IT NOW SCALES 1:4!
This skill is not the very best defensive ability except if you get some AP (ability power) since the health it provides you with are really small compared to your lifesteal
To use this most effefive use it for healing through stuff such as ignite or other dots (damage over time) early on it can also be used against global ult like Karthus's Requiem since it gives you a ton of magic resist and armor.
Master Yi becomes skilled in the art of Wuju, passively increasing the power of his physical attacks. Activating Wuju Style doubles the passive bonus damage for a short time, but the passive bonus is temporarily removed after the effect wears off.
Passive: Increases physical damage
Active: Master Yi can activate this ability to double its effectiveness for 10 seconds, but this removes the passive bonus until Wuju Style becomes available again.
This is a really awesome ability which increases Master Yi's damage a whole lot if it's used right
To use this most effective try to keep it up all the time in a teamfight (your ult refreshes the cooldown on all abities), by using this method you can unlock the TRIPLE DAMAGE BONUS! which comes from activating your Wuju Style before you kill a person with Highlander on then don't activate it again until it's active is gone and then activate it and do it one more time !Penta's Incomning! $$ giving you a lot of cash and allows you to kill even moore
Master Yi moves with unparalleled agility, temporarily increasing Master Yi's movement and attack speeds as well as making him immune to all slowing effects. Additionally, killing a Champion refreshes all of Master Yi's cooldowns.
Increases Master Yi's movement speed and Attack Speed, and he becomes immune to all slowing effects. Additionally, killing a champion refreshes all of Master Yi's cooldowns. (Assists reduce half of the base cooldown amount.)
This is probably one of the best offensive ultimates ingame IMO since it allows you to cut through enemies really fast and with a sick amount of damage from your abilities and items they drop like flies. It really fits the style of Master Yi when it comes to damage and if you have to escape nobody can catch you if you use this ability (maybe rammus)
Activate this abilities when you decide to join the team fight and focus down the carry he/she should be dead really quick, but be sure to kill an enemy to refresh the cooldowns on your abilties so you can reactivate this awesome ability
You run around a lot and you will need speed to pull of a gank (i recommend this or Vampiric Scepter)
When you bought your [boots of speed]] you need sustain and here comes 3 health potions in handy
These are your main items without you're nothing but with them be ready to rape :D JK
What is jungling?
Normally players will gain gold and experience by moving along one of the three lanes and killing enemy creeps. Jungling is the term used when a player instead tries to gain gold and experience by killing the neutral creeps in one of the many camps littering the forested “jungle” area of the map.
Advantages to jungling
-Junglers will generally get less more quickly than other players. This is because a jungler often get fewer creeps and the jungle creeps are not worth that much.
-A jungler’s teammates will generally get experience more quickly than the other team if they don't have a jungler. This is because experience is split among two heroes sharing a lane, such that a hero who is alone in a lane (commonly referred to as a ‘solo’ or ‘solo lane’) levels up faster than either of two heroes sharing a lane. Normally there are five heroes splitting the experience from three lanes (2-2-1), however if one hero jungles there are now effectively four heroes splitting the same experience (2-1-1). Just remember that solo lanes mean faster leveling, and a team with a jungler has two solo lanes.
-A jungler’s moves are harder to predict. Because a jungler spends most of his time outside of the enemies field of vision, it is harder for the enemy team to guess where he is or what he is doing at any given time. This makes it easier for a jungler to assist one of his teammates in a surprise attack, or ‘gank’, on an enemy player.
Disadvantages to jungling
-Junglers will generally level up more slowly than other players. This is because those who fight in lanes are frequently nearby dying enemy creeps, and every player near a dying creep gets the experience for that creep. Note, however, that the more experienced the jungler the faster they kill neutral creeps, to the point that some very skilled and efficient junglers have little or no experience disadvantage.
-A jungler’s teammates may find it harder to ‘push’ early on. Remember that a jungler’s team effectively has two ‘solo’ lanes? Well, this can create a situation where there is only one allied hero in a lane with two enemy heroes. While this can be advantageous in that the lone hero levels up faster than the two enemy heroes, the disadvantage is that a lone hero finds it very hard to gain ground, or ‘push’ into enemy territory. Very often in such 1v2 matchups the solo hero will be forced to play defensively, missing out on potential player or tower kills.
-A jungler is less able to help friends in danger. If you have a teammate that is in the same lane as you, they are actively watching your back in case enemy players try to sneak around, push, or attack you. If you are attacked, a jungler teammate will often times be too distracted to notice or too far away to help until it is too late. Experienced junglers try to keep an eye on what is going on in the three lanes while they are killing neutral creeps so they can still help their allies as much as they can to mitigate this weakness.
Wolves- Don't use Wuju Style
Blue Golem- Use Wuju Style when you have Double Strike ready to insure you double hit with Wuju Style Smite around 450 -> Level up Q
Wraiths- Don't use Wuju Style here but use Alpha Strike on the big wraith
Golems- Use Alpha Strike here (if you want fast clear use wuju style too Level up Q
Lizard- Use Alpha Strike and Wuju Style (if you didn't use it on double golem) Smite around 495 hp
Wraiths- Use Alpha Strike level up either Meditate or Wuju Style depends on your play style
Now gank or recall
Always remember to gang as soon as you get close to a lane where your opponents are overextending (ganging with red buff will makes things 10 times easier).
When to stop jungling ?
As soon as you realize mid-game has started you should stop jungling and go for the regular push & back game. You can grab some creep kills, but always be sure to be close enough to some of your partners, in order to help or to be helped (use a lot of wards at that time). To sum up: stop jungling when your allies can't stay/hold their lanes anymore with the regular 1/1/2/+1 jungler composition.
