Why Leona top? She's a strong support, right? What's the point?

Leona is, of course, a very strong support. In many match-ups, Leona supp would probably be preferred to Leona top. With that in mind, however, the top-lane potential of Leona cannot be ignored!

Leona has a ton of burst damage, crowd control, and built-in tank. When these attributes are amplified via the potential income of a solo lane, she becomes a dominant force on the battlefield. This is especially true with the new 'Juggernaut' update, which added the Titanic Hydra. With this item, Leona can build full tank and still deal ridiculous amounts of damage.

If you're looking to carry your entire team, Leona top is for you.

There's a lot to say about the Items in this build, but I'll keep it short. Titanic + Trinity Force on Leona is horrifyingly strong. However, this is not always applicable. You will need to decide based on the compositions of both teams whether full tank Leona or bruiser Leona is most appropriate.

After that, you can just build full tank based on whatever damage the enemy team is dishing out.

Lane phase can be fairly dangerous depending on the match-up, but I've found, universally, no matter who I'm up against, Leona can weather the storm. Pinned under tower, can barely get any CS? Just stick around for the XP and wait for your jungler. When you get a gank, do the stun, get a free kill and free money. Repeat till fed. The key with this portion is patient communication. The jungler is a close friend- don't ***** at him, ask for a gank and occasionally remind him if he doesn't show up. If he doesn't, then YOU gank someone elses lane. You have enough CC when your ult is up to secure just about anything, and can TP back into lane as needed.

When dealing damage at any point in time, always make sure you do the damage combo for Leona. For those that don't know, this combo is AA, Q, AA, Titanic Hydra Active, AA. Because both Q and Titanic hydra are AA resets, you can burst like a **********er.

Note that 99% of the time, you'll have teleport in your arsenal. USE THIS. Teleport Leona means that the enemies are forced to suffer under your GLOBAL PRESSURE! They push too far up in lane? LEONA TIME. Chasing into your jungle? LEONA TIME. Trying to steal dragon? LEONA TIME. Make these people HATE you. Punish ANY and ALL misplays for your benefit. Do this right, and the enemies will be like timid little puppies that you apparently beat to death with your shield. You sick bastard.

Keep in mind that your AA combo works on towers too, so you can split push super well, too.

Like pretty much every other champ, this is where things can get complicated. If you're winning, chances are you can just E in on the enemy damage and beat them to death while the rest of your team kites or engages with you.

If you're losing, you'll have to play a little more passive and wait for the right opportunities to present themselves. Your ult has preposterous range, and if you can combo that with your E and Q to get your team a good fight, do it. If you get forced into a fight, remember that your E can actually make a pretty good escape if you get lucky.

As always, support or top, the most important aspect of Leona is to keep your teammates alive and to know your own limits. Crowd Control is only really useful if you can deal damage during its duration. Seriously, don't be afraid to wait for help. Just follow your teammates around if you have to. Teamfights are your friend.
