Shaco

Lore:

Most would say that death isn't funny. It isn't, unless you're Shaco - then it's hysterical. He is Valoran's first fully functioning homicidal comic; he jests until someone dies, and then he laughs. The figure that has come to be known as the Demon Jester is an enigma. No one fully agrees from whence he came, and Shaco never offers any details on his own. A popular belief is that Shaco is not of Runeterra - that he is a thing summoned from a dark and twisted world. Still others believe that he is the demonic manifestation of humanity's dark urges and therefore cannot be reasoned with. The most plausible belief is that Shaco is an assassin for hire, left to his own lunatic devices until his services are needed. Shaco certainly has proven himself to be a cunning individual, evading authorities at every turn who might seek him for questioning for some horrendous, law-breaking atrocity. While such scuttlebutt might reassure the native inhabitants of Valoran, it seems unimaginable that such a malfeasant figure is allowed to remain at large.

Whatever the truth of his history might be, Shaco has joined the League of Legends for reasons only he knows. He is a terrifying figure, typically shunned by both his fellow champions and the media at large. Only the summoners in the Institute of War know why such a creature was allowed into the League, but most Runeterrans suspect it to be a means that allows the power that be to keep an eye on the ever-elusive Shaco. Unsurprisingly, this champion is popular in places where madness can openly reign, such as among the power-hungry summoners of Zaun and Noxus.

Whatever you do, don't tell him you missed the punch line.

Introduction

Shaco.... what a champion. He is one of those champions people are scared of, people have nightmares over facing a Shaco in combat. Now, truth be told, those nightmares are un-needed because the vast majority of Shaco players are un-skilled in the arts of assassinations and jokes. This guide here, It's meant to help all of you unexperienced players learn a thing or two from people who do well with Shaco. Those who think they do "well", They can do better... I myself must admit I am not perfect as Shaco, but I'm damn good and I plan on making at least half of the people who use this guide just as good or better than myself. To give an example of hard Shaco can be to master, when I first bought him I went 23 losses in a row! 23 losses! Now I am going to make sure no one goes through the hell I went through. Lets get started people!

Misconceptions

Misconception 1
Shaco is overpowered.

Answer 1
Shaco is not overpowered. He can deliver the pain if done properly though. A fed Shaco however is overpowered, but then again any champion that is fed can be considered over powered. Shaco is fairly balanced in my opinion. Though my enemies tend to think he is a little too powerful early game, I frankly care not what they think.

Misconception 2
Shaco is the best jungle champion.

Answer 2
Shaco excels as a jungle champion because he has barely any lane control. Though, by no means is he the best jungle champion. Shaco, again, excels as a jungle champion, but can easily be countered. If they enemy wills it they can destroy your jungle route. Once in a while you will face enemies that are too incompetent to try and ruin you jungle letting you have a perfect jungle. A perfect jungle will result in a perfect ganking phase, but since receiving the opportunity of a perfect jungle route is highly unlikely; Shaco can't become the best. He is a good jungle champion though.

Misconception 3
Shaco does not need Smite.

Answer 3
Shaco needs Smite, whoever said he doesn't is mistaken. Sure you could jungle without Smite, but you'd be so far behind that its not even worth it. Smite is a wonderful spell to have while jungling; not only does it speed up jungling, but it also secures your buffs properly. Smite, in my opinion, is a MUST for Shaco and any other jungler. The advantage of having it with you are just to good to deny Smite. This Misconception was suggested by Xenasis.

Items (Trinity Force Build)

Personal Opinions

-Wriggle's Lantern- This is an amazing item for every Jungler in this game. It provides the tools necessary for every jungle; It provides an easy way to maintain HP, It provides an easy way to rush through every base camps, It provides an easy way to control the map. This is a must early in the game, we do however sell this late game for a Bloodthirster for better overall stats. Still a must in my opinion.

-Boots of Mobility- A set of boots among the many. I choose these fairly often because of that movement speed bonus, it helps a lot with mobility around the map. Though, you can still choose any other pair from the many. I recommend the following for Shaco: Boots of Mobility , Boots of Swiftness , Berserker's Greaves , and Mercury Treads . Those are my top picks for Shaco, but feel free to go with what you enjoy.

-Banshee's Veil- One of my favorite anti-magic items. It's just so amazing. For one, It blocks one full enemy spell; that could range to a 500 damage nuke or to an ability that would hold you in place. It also provides Health and Mana to increase your survivability, along with a good base amount of magic resist; which is the majority of ability damage in League of Legends. This is one of my all time favorite defense items, you just can't beat this items hidden and visible power.

-The Black Cleaver- What an item. This is heaven on earth for Shaco, Armor Penetration, Attack Speed, and Attack Damage. To top it all off, your clone gets the passive as well. This is a pub stomping item, no doubt about it. Once you get this, left click to kill almost any squishy, well stupid squishies that is.

-Guardian Angel- One amazing defensive item, it provides both armor and magic resist which are essential for survival. Did I forget to mention it also revives you on the spot if you were to die. This is my second favorite defensive item, my first being only Banshee's Veil . A small tip, if you do die and start to revive, be prepared to Deceive right away.

-Trinity Force- The item this build was named after, this is the centerpiece. It basically just doubles your attack damage, it's like a critical proc but without the whole animation and stuff. This is a controversial item since it shows out the difference between you and your Hallucinate clone , but frankly; it's just to good to pass up. This is the item that makes you the beast known as Shaco, the jester everyone should learn to fear.

-The Bloodthirster- This is basically the item you get when the game is way overdue, you'll probably never get to this item, but if you do here it is. This is the perfect switch out for your Wriggle's Lantern , it provides that superior life steal and damage, though you do lose out on the 500 damage proc against minions; but then again you get that 500 damage dealt to champions instead. A good trade out in my opinion.

Items (Madred's Bloodrazor Build)

Items

Personal Opinions

-Boots of Mobility- A set of boots among the many. I choose these fairly often because of that movement speed bonus, it helps a lot with mobility around the map. Though, you can still choose any other pair from the many. I recommend the following for Shaco: Boots of Mobility , Boots of Swiftness , Berserker's Greaves , and Mercury Treads . Those are my top picks for Shaco, but feel free to go with what you enjoy. **Copied from Above**

-Madred's Bloodrazor- The king of all items. This is what makes people fear Shaco while using this build. The fact that you take away 4% of your enemies health is just too great, the fact that your clone can also do this is insanity. Now 8% Health is a toll for nearly every champion, now your becoming a real pain in the *** for your enemies. Also, since we are building this so early on, you'll start speeding your way to level 18 due to the fact you kill everything so damn fast. This item is almost as insane as Shaco....almost.

-Stark's Fervor- Lifesteal, Attack Speed, and Armor Penetration. Did I also forget to mention you share all of that with your fellow allies. This is one amazing item overall, it's not the best with Shaco, but it works best with this build and in my personal opinion buffs it a little as well. This is a good item to start early on in the game due to the fact that life steal is very important to survive. Now with this item, not only are you surviving; but your giving your team a chance to survive with you. Aren't you nice?

-Banshee's Veil- One of my favorite anti-magic items. It's just so amazing. For one, It blocks one full enemy spell; that could range to a 500 damage nuke or to an ability that would hold you in place. It also provides Health and Mana to increase your survivability, along with a good base amount of magic resist; which is the majority of ability damage in League of Legends. Items (Sword of the Divine Build) -3v3 Recommended-

**Note: This Build works best in 3v3(Twisted Treeline). If playing in 5v5(Summoner's Rift) please change your summoner spells from Exhaust and Ignite to Ghost and Smite . Also consider changing your boots from Berserker's Greaves to Boots of Mobility for better results. You should also switch the Wriggle's Lantern and Boots of Mobility /Berserker's Greaves location in the item order for jungling capabilities in 5v5(Summoner's Rift). Also, remember to always put your first skill point into Jacks if your playing 5v5(Summmoner's Rift).**

Items

Personal Opinions

-Berserker's Greaves- Top recommended shoes from me when playing 3v3(Twisted Treeline). Since Twisted Treeline is such a small map Boots of Mobility are wasted. Berserker's Greaves work insanely well here, since they provide Attack Speed which just speeds up your leveling. If playing 5v5(Summoner's Rift) and using this build, It is highly recommended that you do not use Berserker's Greaves since movement speed is needed to gank faster and properly; Boots of Mobility would work best if the enemy team is balanced, if not consider choosing one of the many other boots.

-Wriggle's Lantern- A wonderful item in terms of Jungling. Now some of you may think this is unneeded in 3v3(Twisted Treeline, but truth be told; it is still an amazing item to have with you. Since their still are Jungle creeps on Twisted Treeline this helps out when you start your jungle runs. Wriggle's Lantern also provides a free ward which is very helpful in such a small map, you should use this ward to control Dragon or "Red Buff" Lizard. If playing 5v5(Summoner's Rift) and using this build, you SHOULD always switch Wriggle's Lantern to your first buy and whatever pair of boots you chose to your second buy.

-Sword of the Divine- This is probably one of the most underrated out of all the items in League of Legends. What people don't know is how good of an item Sword of the Divine really is on Shaco. This item really wrecks. The real reason to why this item is so good on Shaco is that his clone gets this items passive ability to deal 100 extra damage after 4 attacks. Now this passive also works on towers, so now you've just became a huge threat. This speeds up your jungling by so much its not even funny, and you deal damage in epic proportions. Also, if they have Jax or any Dodge-related champion, it won't affect you at all; all you have to do is activate Sword of the Divine . Even if they don't have dodge you still get some nice Armor Penetration. I see no reason not to love this item on Shaco.

-Wit's End- Another one of those items that work so well with Shaco, but not everyone else the majority of the time. It does around 42 damage each hit and stacks Magic Resist for you. Your clone also get the passive extra 42 damage each hit. It hurts a lot when you stack it up with your Sword of the Divine . Also, if you add the Magic Resist bonus, you just cannot deny this item its rightful place next to Shaco. An item that gives 25 Magic Resist when maxed and a potential 84 extra damage each hit is too good to pass up.This is 1337 **** right here!

This item works very well with this build and the 3v3(Twisted Treeline) map. ***Some Copied from Above***

Ok, so we established this is a good item for Shaco, but when added along with the Sword of the Divine and Wit's End your basically a one man army. I mean you never could just degenerate your enemies Health Bars until you've completed this. ***Some Copied from Above***

Now, add all that with your already superior damage and boom. You have now reach level 19 Shaco, congratulations! ***Some Copied from Above***

Jungling

Shaco's main role in personal opinion. Shaco can lane, but he just isn't as big of a threat, but when he's in the jungle; oh my should you be worried. Shaco is like that guy you never know is playing until your dead. I've narrowed down the vast amount of Jungle Routes for Shaco to my personal favorites. I have also took the liberty of rating them on their difficulties. You will find a video and written guide on each route. On a side note, I should add some tips to this section.

*Tip: Do not forget about the dragon!*

**Tip: Try and use one health potion on each camp, trust me it'll keep you from dying**

2- Place two jacks at the wolves.

3- Engage the "Blue Buff" Golem.

Juking 101

Juking... A relatively easy thing to do with Shaco. There is one particular way of doing it that works 98% of the time. Since my computer cannot handle even screenshot's this will be hard for me to present to you all without a visual; But I shall try my best. The step-by-step instructions are below:

1- Run into the bush with or without your clone .
  • If clone is not active, please be sure to activate it the moment you hit the bush!
2- Send your clone to your base (WARNING: you must do this very quickly).

3- Now, Deceive in their direction. Basically just right back into them, This trick should shack them off. Now sometimes a smart player comes along and he/she know that your clone will follow you were you go. Here is where another trick comes into play, even they will be fooled and chase your clone thinking your going in that direction!

In those crucial 2~3 seconds you have gotten away, Now just escape through a safe and easy route. Be careful though, you may have fooled them once but it is hard for them to fall for it twice. Mix it up all the time, use your clone to your advantage; trick them. All it requires is a brain to think clearly in dire situations.

**Visuals will come soon to simplify my words**
