Introduction

Saludos Invocadores! I'm Fnader. In a love-hate relationship with league of legends since season 2, actually sitting on gold tier testing some unusual champs and builds in order to break the monotony. One of this experiments was, Skarner. Since Season 3, Skarner disappeared from Summoners Rift, but he caught my attention. I experimented a lot with him: AP mage, AD bruiser, punching bag... But the best build I've used, by far, is the one I'm sharing with you.

-Hey Fnader, what's Toasty Skarner, then?

Relax your nipples, my friend. Toasty Skarner boosts the scorpion with attack speed, movement speed, damage on hit, and some resistances. In two words, a beast.

-Hey Fnader, that's not new! You're just plagiarizing Devourner!

Yeah, I know. Toasty Skarner have a lot of similar idiosyncrasy with him (even the Introduction :3) but that's not the same build. That's not the same play style. That's not the same! Just sit here, read carefully, and let Zephyr make his job.

PS: I'm still working on game phases and jungling routes, wait for it!
PS2: Hi mum!

Skill explanation

PASSIVE
Crystallizing
Sting
There's no clue here, simply as that. Proc your stacks, get stunns.

Q
Crystal
Slash
A brutal spam attack. In (a small) area. Basic attacks on champs reduce the cooldown by 1 second, .5 if it's not a champ. Now you understand why this build, huh? LETS ACTIVATE Sheen!!!

W
Crystalline
Exoskeleton
Gives you a decent shield, and scaling movement speed. That's what makes you a jungle train. HERE COMES SKARNEEEER~

E
Fracture
"Blast of crystalline energy" with pointless damage but a nice slow to all enemys in line. Pretty useful for a chase/escape.

R
Impale
Skarner supresses an enemy champion with his sting and he can move and drag his poor victim. Use this mostly on the enemy APC/ADC, but its useful too for peeling your own carrys. You should also know that this ability consumes all Crystallizing Sting stacks and deal some extra damage for each one consumed.

Impale> Crystal Slash> Crystalline Exoskeleton> Fracture. Simply as that.

Impale first. No explanation needed.

Then Crystal Slash. No doubt here too. That's your bread and butter. Spam this every time you can.

I maximise Crystalline Exoskeleton first because the movement speed is crucial in this build, and the shield its a life safeguard.
We could upgrade Fracture before Crystalline Exoskeleton. That's a personal choice, I guess that both options are great, you must adapt that to your playstile.

Summoner Spells

Smite. Jungler. See the connection? Ok, let's continue.

hi.VS.
I normally use flash. Skarner have no gap closers, so thats the best summoner spell almost every game. When should I pick ghost, then? When the enemy team have zero CC. The distance covered is greater, even though the Flash> Impale surprising effect it's amazing. Think for yourself.

Runes

Runes

Greater Mark of Attack Speed

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist

Greater Seal of Armor

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed

Greater Mark
of Attack Speed
Greater Mark of Attack Damage? HAH! Such a pu**y.

Greater Glyph
of Scaling
Magic Resist
Yes, we're not using Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction. Maths, guys! We are normally building Frozen Heart (20% CDR), Iceborn Gauntlet(10% CDR) and Zephyr (10% CDR). 20+10+10=40. 40%. We can't have more than 40% CDR! Then, it's pointless!

Greater Seal
of Armor
That's basic! Why are you even wondering here? God...

Greater
Quintessence
of Movement
Speed
-Movement Speed? Who are you? Why aren't you using Attack Speed quints?! WHERE IS FNADER?!
Map presence.

Items

Core items

Ranger's Trailblazer for an insane jungle clear and Enchantment: Devourer because it's all we need. If you are disappointed with this, read again the introduction. Thanks!

Thats our little tresaure, our secret, what makes this build special. Movement speed to be a f**king train, attack speed because we L O V E attack speed, some attack damage (why not?) and Tenacity. Zephyr allow us to be a god d*mn strong scorpion.

hi.VS.
You're fed? Trinity Force. You're not? Iceborn Gauntlet. No secret.

Boots

hi.VS.
Take Mobility boots unless the enemy team have tons of AD.

Defensive Items

Armor and Health. Take this if you're having a bad time.

Mana, CDR, Armor, plus the amazing passive. Take it unless the enemy team have tons of AP damage and you already bought Iceborn Gauntlet.

Need MR? Take it. Thats all.

If you are the one and only engager in your team, you should build this. JUMANJI!

Situational items

Frozen mallet if you bought Trinity and you need some slow.

Warmog if you are way too squishy and the enemy team have balanced AP damage and attack damage.

Wit's End if you're the carry here.

I can't explain when you should take GA because I don't even know it. But trust me, it works!

Locket if you are assuming the support role
