Lore
The world is not always as civilized as people might think. There are still those who would follow the blackest paths of magic and become corrupted by the darker powers that flow through Runeterra. Shauna Vayne knows this fact well. As a young privileged girl in the heart of Demacia's elite, her father tried to convince her of the constabulary's ever-vigilant eye. Young and naive, she truly believed that her world was one of perfect safety, until one night, when a twisted witch took interest in her father. The malevolent woman overcame her father's conciliar guard, then tortured her family before murdering them. The young Shauna escaped only by hiding herself and then fleeing once the hag had departed, plagued by the screams of her loved ones as she ran. A burning hatred was born in her that day, one that could never be denied.
Vayne was able to take care of herself using her father's money, and she began to train as soon as an instructor would have her as a student. By the time she was a fully grown woman, she had become a grim warrior. However, the fields of battle were not to be her home. Demacia needed a protector, one who hunted those lost to the darkness. Shauna used her family's contacts to become the first Night Hunter, and now her prowess is the stuff of legends. It is said that those who practice the black arts quake when they hear that the Night Hunter is on the prowl. Despite her crusade, Shauna has looked at the League of Legends in horror. There are champions who have clearly lost themselves to the blackest of magics, and who have been embraced within the League even though they should be put down for the safety of all. The time has come for the Night Hunter to execute her secret mission - to purge the League of Legends.
"Not all shadows are to be feared. At least, if Vayne has her way." -Vayne
Fed Vayne and Not Fed Vayne
Fed Vayne is the first one and Not Fed Vayne is the second one. If you aren't getting fed use the second build. Easy as that.
I will add sections for Not Fed Vayne soon, but for now bear with me.
Introduction
Vayne can shut down anybody easily as long as she's not stunned or blinded. The items that I get for her are focused on Tanky early game, and huge burst damage late game. Try to avoid people that have
Thornmail. The skill sequence that I use is weird, but it works well on Tanks and carries.
Silver Bolts can shut anyone down easily even if they have
Thornmail. My masteries are nothing new. It's 21/0/9, just like anyone else. My Runes are simple, I get Physical Damage, Armor, and Magic Resist. My Summoner Spells are
Ignite and
Flash, but
Ghost and
Exhaust works well, too. The Pros of Vayne is that she can shut anyone down late game. She has amazing burst damage and life steal. The cons are that,
Thornmail can kill her easily, it's hard to escape ganks or any bad situations without
Flash, she gets shut down by stuns and blinds, and got nerfed 4 times in a row.
Items: Fed Vayne
When you spawn, buy
Doran's Blade and head to bottom lane. I always have at least 825 Gold when I teleport back to base. With that gold, I buy another
Doran's Blade and
Boots of Speed. If you have enough to buy
Elixir of Fortitude or
Elixir of Agility, buy them. After, you should buy
Berserker's Greaves and, if you have enough gold, buy
B. F. Sword. Then, buy
The Bloodthirster or a
Vampiric Scepter if you have no gold. In your next visit, buy
B. F. Sword again. Since, you have enough AD, we get
Dagger, or if you have enough gold, get
Zeal. Try to get
Phantom Dancer as soon as possible, if not, buy
Cloak of Agility and try to upgrade to
Phantom Dancer. After that, you should buy
Vampiric Scepter or just buy
The Bloodthirster straight away. At this time, you should sell both
Doran's Blade and buy
B. F. Sword. After, you can either buy
Cloak of Agility or
Pickaxe. (I recommend
Cloak of Agility) The final item is
Infinity Edge. Be sure to pick up the
Elixir of Fortitude and
Elixir of Agility, because you'll have one extra slot for them and for
Sight Ward and
Vision Ward. I don't really think
Vayne needs a sixth item, but if you want a sixth item, be sure to get
Guardian Angel or
Aegis of the Legion. I think both of those items are settled in
Vayne, because, one,
Guardian Angel gives a tremendously, great boost in armor, and a slight boost to magic resist, and, two,
Aegis of the Legion gives a boost on both armor and magic resist, while giving yourself a little attack damage.
These items are built to give you sustain for early game and big burst late game. In late game, you will have tons of Life Steal, so, you won't be worrying if you 1v1 anybody, except for the enemies that have
Thornmail.
Items: Not Fed Vayne
When you spawn, buy
Doran's Blade and head to bottom lane. I always have at least 825 Gold when I teleport back to base. With that gold, I buy another
Doran's Blade and
Boots of Speed. If you have enough to buy
Elixir of Fortitude or
Elixir of Agility, buy them. After, you should buy
Berserker's Greaves and, if you have enough gold, buy
Vampiric Scepter. When you teleport back, buy
Cloth Armor and if you have extra gold, get
Long Sword. I usually get
Wriggle's Lantern when I get back, but if not get
Madred's Razors and a couple of
Health Potion. Since we have some Attack Damage with us, we should get Attack Speed, so, get
Dagger or
Zeal. Once you teleport back, buy
Cloak of Agility or
Phantom Dancer straight away. After that, you should get
Avarice Blade; it's really cheap and gives you 12% Critical Strike along with gold per 10. I think it's obvious that you should get
The Brutalizer, if not you can buy 2
Long Sword. It'll be easy to get
Youmuu's Ghostblade, so, get that. After that, sell both of your
Doran's Blade and get
Phage or buy
Ruby Crystal or
Long Sword. After those items, buy
Giant's Belt. Buy
Frozen Mallet when you get back. After
Frozen Mallet you can either get
Chain Vest and upgrade to
Atma's Impaler or save that spot for
Elixir of Fortitude,
Elixir of Agility,
Sight Ward, and
Vision Ward.
These items will help an "unfed Vayne" be viable to the team. Most of these items aren't that expensive, but it will take a bit of farming to get some. Good Luck!
Dangerous Enemies
We all know every character has a counter. I know Vayne can be shut down by lots of things, but watch out for these characters that I think are a threat to Vayne.
Level 1: Be Cautious
- I think
Annie, because she has her own working
Thornmail, and a stun which always comes in handy when fighting
Vayne.
- Jarvan has his Ultimate, which causes him and his enemy to be stuck, but
Vayne can easily
Condemn him out of it.
- I know what you're wondering, "WHY
Nidalee?!?!", Well, I really hate her spears and her tiger/cougar form. She does alot of damage if she goes for AD or AP, maybe even a hybrid. Just try to dodge her spears, and stay behind minions.
Level 2: Stay Back
- We all know
Tryndamere for his Ultimate which stops him from dying for a time. Tryndamere crits alot, but if you put an ignite on him during his Ultimate, then you'll be fine.
-
Shaco is pretty hard due to his
Deceive and
Jack In The Box. Remember that
Vayne can turn invisible, too, just not as long as his. You can stay next to a wall,
Tumble behind him and stun him with
Condemn. That's how I defeat
Shaco.
Level 3: DANGER
- I think everyone hates
Shen, because of his taunt spell. It can Taunt not even 1, not even 2, but your whole team! His Ultimate can really change a battle, because it shields alot and
Shen teleports to that champion. If you see his Ultimate in action, stop fighting,
Condemn, and run!
- 2 words. True Damage. His true damage beats yours anytime, so try to be careful when battling him, because he can throw his axe to slow you and he can get out of your stun by using his Ultimate. You have to think to beat him, I know I can't.
- I hate Rammus, because of his
Thornmail spell. It really turns the tide for me. He can taunt, roll, and take down buildings like it's nothing. Try to
Condemn him to a wall and run.
- Teemo has blind, poison, and mushrooms! He can 1v1
Vayne anyday, and still come out with at least 300 HP. If he's AP
Teemo watch out! When he blinds, it's game over!
Skill Sequence
I take
Tumble first and max it first. I always make sure that I have
Silver Bolts at least Rank 2, because you'll need it to take down Tankers, but max this skill last.
Condemn will be taken at Level 5 and maxed out second. Take
Final Hour everytime it's available, at Level 6, 11, and 16.
This skill sequence is odd, but it works.
Silver Bolts will help take down tankers and it will do ridiculous damage at AD carries and AP carries. Try to
Tumble everytime it's your third tick of
Silver Bolts. Always
Condemn at a wall to get them stunned.
Skill #1: Tumble
(Active): Vayne quickly rolls toward the cursor and enhances her next autoattack within 6 seconds to deal a percentage of her attack damage as bonus physical damage. This enhanced attack will not proc against structures.

1. Deal extra damage.
2. Last hit minions.
3. Can be used to escape, but it's not a viable one.
4. Can be used to turn invisible while using
Final Hour.
Why do I max this out first?
Well,
Tumble can deal amazing burst damage if used properly with
Silver Bolts. I know people max out
Condemn, but the thing about maxing that out first is that, it doesn't increase Stun Duration.
Skill #2: Silver Bolts
(Passive): Vayne's consecutive attacks and spell hits on a target will mark them with a silver ring. The third consecutive attack or spell hits against the same target will consume the rings, dealing true damage plus a percentage of the target's maximum health as additional true damage. Damage against monsters is capped at 200. The rings on a target are lost after 3 seconds of not attacking them or upon attacking a different target.

1. Great for taking down Tankers.
2. Extreme burst damage mid/late game.
Why do I max this out last, but rank it up 2 times early?
Well,
Silver Bolts can really be useful with
Tumble and
Condemn. Always
Tumble at the third basic attack.
Condemn adds one tick of
Silver Bolts, so, try to use it to either add one extra tick of
Silver Bolts or end the third tick.
Skill #3: Condemn
(Active): Vayne fires a huge bolt at her target, dealing physical damage and knocking them back. If they collide with terrain after being knocked back, they are dealt the same amount of physical damage again and are stunned for 1.5 seconds. This ability also applies one ring of Silver Bolts.

1. Stun Tool.
2. Knockback Tool.
3. Excape Tool.
Why do I max this out second, but start ranking it up at level 5?
Well, I really think that
Condemn is not needed early game, in my opinion.
Condemn is great at escaping tight situations, but I usually never get into them until at least I'm Level 6. Always try to aim
Condemn at a wall, so, your enemy will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Trust me 1.5 seconds is alot for you to deal damage. Don't forget to use
Tumble!
Ultimate: Final Hour
(Active): Vayne increases her combat skills and improves her abilities for a few seconds. For the duration, Vayne is granted bonus attack damage and the bonus movement speed from Night Hunter is tripled. Additionally, she will stealth for 1 second after using Tumble.

1. Gives a B.F Sword at Rank 2.
2. Gains triple the movement speed from your passive.
3. Gives invisibility for 1 second, if you use your
Tumble, which is actually useful.
Always max your Ultimate every time it's available, at Level 6, 11, and 16.
Final Hour gives benefits of chasing, attack damage, and fleeing. Don't be afraid to use your Ultimate if you are in a sticky situation or trying to catch up to a fleeing enemy.
Masteries
I always get 21/0/9. In the Physical section of your mastery page get,
Summoner's Wrath
,
Brute Force
,
Alacrity
,
Weapon Expertise
,
Deadliness
,
Lethality
,
Havoc
,
Vampirism
, and
Executioner
. In the Utility section of your mastery page get,
Summoner's Insight
,
Good Hands
,
Improved Recall
, and
Swiftness
.
This mastery page will help
Vayne alot. She'll need the movement speed, because she got nerfed tons of times. Most AD carries use these masteries, but they sometime get the armor and magic resist from the Defense section of the mastery page.
Runes
My Runes are just like any other AD carry runes page. It gives you Flat AD marks, Flat Armor seals, Magic Resist per Level glyphs, and Flat AD quintessence. To be exact get, 9
Greater Mark of Attack Damage, 9 Great Seal of Resilience, 9
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist, and 3
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage.
Remember to last hit, because this Rune Page was made for last hitting, too. You'll tank a bit from huge burst damage early game. Always last hit minions! If you have a good supporter like
Janna, then you'll do perfectly fine.
Summoner Spells
I always take
Ignite and
Flash.
Ignite, for me, is used while you're battling an AD carry. It'll cut the Life Steal in half. It can also be used to kill any enemies that have low HP.
Flash, as we all know it, is used for escaping dangerous situations or quickly going in combat. You can replace
Flash with
Ghost and
Ignite with
Exhaust, but I personally think that
Ignite and
Flash will be the best for
Vayne. One other summoner spell is
Heal. I know, I know, you probably think the Supporter has to get
Heal, but that's totally wrong.
Heal can save your life in any 1v1 battles, including healing other teammates, so, I recommend you get
Heal if you are a beginner to
Vayne.
Never take any other Summoner Spells other then
Ignite,
Exhaust,
Flash,
Ghost, or
Heal.
Summoner Spell: Ignite
Ignite has lots of uses. It can be used for 50% reduction on healing, or picking up a kill if they're low.
When to use
Ignite?
1. Quickly killing a low health enemy.
2. Reducing healing by 50%.
3. When you do a 1v1, you use it to deal extra damage.
When not to use
Ignite?
1. Using it randomly.
2. Using it on a minion unless it's
Baron Nashor
or
Dragon
.
Summoner Spell: Flash
Flash has many uses just like any other Summoner Spell. It can be used to blink away from any danger, like ganks or turret. It can also be used to get in position during fights and importantly Team Fights.
When to use
Flash?
1. Getting in Position during fights.
2. Getting out of danger.
When not to use
Flash?
1. Flashing out of nowhere.
2. Flashing to steal buffs from allies.
3. Flashing to steal a kill.
4. Flashing to steal buffs from enemies, unless it is
Dragon
or
Baron Nashor
.
Summoner Spell: Exhaust
Exhaust is used for lots of things including catching up to enemies or lowering their Attack Damage. It is better to use
Exhaust on an AD Carry, because it lowers their damage output. If not you should use
Exhaust to catch up to enemies.
When to use
Exhaust?
1. Fighting an AD Carry.
2. Catching up to an enemy champion.
When not to use
Exhaust?
1. If the enemy champion is slowed significantly already.
2. To a Tank.
3. To a Support.
Summoner Spell: Ghost
Ghost is used just like it's used for
Flash, except you cannot go through walls. I prefer
Flash, because you can Blink through walls. Ghost can help you chase down enemies and fleeing from enemies.
When to use
Ghost?
1. Catching up to an enemy champion.
2. Fleeing from an enemy champion.
3. Engaging a team fight.
When not to use
Ghost?
1. Stealing a kill.
2. Going to Baron, unless trying to steal it.
Summoner Spell: Heal
Heal can save your life along with a few of your allies, but I don't recommend heal, unless you're doing a Ranked Game. Never use
Heal if another person uses
Heal, because it'll be a waste of heals.
When to use
Heal?
1. Saving someone or your life, if needed.
2. Healing yourself and your ally to stay in lane.
When not to use
Heal?
1. If another person uses
Heal.
2. If an enemy uses
Ignite on you, but use
Heal if you think it'll save you.
