Welcome to my first guide here on Mobafire. I bought
Hello everyone I am Berzerk. I'm here to help write about my favorite champion Wukong the Monkey King. Wukong has been my main ever since his release and has aided me in getting my Elo borders. I'm going to be telling you how I carry games as Wukong in soloQ. This will include my general builds, playstyles, and logic. I play Wukong as both a top and mid in ranked and can offer you a good amount of insight on that. I can also give you a few beginning lessons on jungle Wukong (though I don't really jungle him in serious games).

Summoner's Wrath
for
Ignite and then 3 points into

for some increased attack speed. You could put all 4 points in
Fury
alone if you wish. - Tier 2: I take 4 points in
Deadliness
for some increased attack damage per level. Not really too noticeable but extra AD always helps. - Tier 3: In this tier I take my last point
Weapon Expertise
for 8% armor pen.

- Tier 1: I put 4 points in
Durability
for an extra 108 health by level 18. With health being the meta currently all free extra health is welcomed. - Tier 2: In this tier I put 3 points in
Hardiness
for an extra 5 armor and 1 point in
Resistance
for an extra 2 magic resist. If you know that you will be facing an AP top put 3 points in
Resistance
and 1 point in
Hardiness

Veteran's Scars
for more health, 1 point in
Relentless
to reduce all slows by 7.5%, and finally 2 points in
Unyielding
to reduce damage taken by enemy champions. - Tier 4: I put 1 point into
Block
to reduce damage taken from enemy basic attacks. I also put 3 points in
Juggernaut
to increase my overall health by 4%. - Tier 5: In this tier I put 1 point in
Reinforced Armor
to reduce critical strike damage by 10%. This will come in handy against AD carries. I also put 2 points in
Legendary Armor
to increase my armor and magic resist by 3.5%. Lastly I put 1 point in
Defender
to increase your armor and magic resist for every enemy champion nearby and it compliments your passive. - Tier 6: Lastly I put my last point in
Honor Guard
to reduce all damage taken by 3% and finish the 21 points in defense.

Usually when I am in the loading screen and I see my enemy for the first time (Blind Pick) I ask myself this question: "Do I think that I can win this lane?" Ask yourself that question in the loading screen. If you believe that answer is no then play a farm lane. Try to get as much farm as you possibly can even if you have to do it for 20 minutes. It might be boring but you will much better off for the remainder of the game. A
For a farming lane try as much as you can to freeze your lane outside of turret range. You do not want the enemy minions to start moving into your tower range. Even if you have to tank some minion aggro so that this can happen it will be better for you as it will allow you to farm and will leave your enemy with nothing to do but stand there and watch you or roam around. Taking plenty of
Below is a picture of safe zones in lane. You want to freeze the lane in the green zone closest to your tower and even farther back. This will make it hard to gank you and can just about guarantee free farm against most bruisers.

If the answer to the above question is yes then harass the hell out of your enemy BUT also remember to FARM at the same time as you are harassing. You need farm, every champion does, but a farmed
Gameplay: Mid Game

At this stage of the game you should be focusing on roaming around and trying to make plays in other lanes to help out your team. In lane farm the minions and then push the lane to the enemy tower. Doing this will give you some time to roam and try to get some kills. If you plan on roaming very often during the game then take
Teleport so you can be in a lane instantly or so you can return to lane quickly after roaming.
When teamfights start occurring at this stage you pretty much have two combos to choose from. If they are looking for a fight then go with:
Nimbus Strike (in) ->
Crushing Blow ->
Cyclone. Try to knock-up the whole team if possible with your ultimate but do not be too daring and get yourself killed just to try and knock up the last person. Then when
Cyclone ends or when you get too focused follow up that combo with
Decoy (out) ->
Nimbus Strike (back in) ->
Crushing Blow. Keep repeating your combo as much as you need to.
Now if the enemy team is a bunch of wimps and you are just at a standstill before a fight that might EVENTUALLY happen you can be brave and try this combo.
Decoy -> move forward and
Flash (in) ->
Cyclone ->
Nimbus Strike ->
Crushing Blow. The problem with this combo is that you need to be able to survive until
Decoy's cooldown is over. With no escape mechanism left make sure your team will follow you AND you can survive the enemy damage before attempting this.
Make sure that your team is also keeping track of
Dragon
as it starts to play an important role in this area of the game.
Gameplay: Late Game

When you get to late game
Cyclone's power is really good and you can become a powerhouse. If someone on your team has a speed boost such as
Blood Boil or
Shurelya's Reverie or a slow down like
Randuin's Omen or
The Box it makes it even more powerful as it is easier for you to hit and knock-up everyone.
If your team can peel for your carries and they will be protected in the fight then you should try to get into the fray and soak up as much CC and damage as you possibly can while attacking as much as you can. If you have
Quicksilver Sash this will make your job easier but you also have a 1.5 second
Decoy, which you should be able to have two opportunities to use in late game, to rely on if you survive the inital enemy damage output. While soaking damage aim for the enemy AD and AP carries to kill them or at least make them scared of you so they run. If they are running the enemy bruisers will try to go after you which could give your AD carry the chance to wreck the enemy team. This should make them disorganized and whoever ends up the most disorganized most of the time will lose the teamfight.
If your carries are NOT protected because of whatever reason then teamfights will be a lot harder to win but you will have to end up playing the role as the bodyguard or the peeler for your carries. Basically your job will be to soak the damage from the enemy bruisers who come charging after your carries. Having
Randuin's Omen will help as it is a great peel item in combination with
Cyclone. Save
Cyclone so that you can defend your carries. Without your carries your damage potential drops dramatically. If you can manage to defend your carries successfully it could end up turning the teamfight around and they have the chance to go to town on your enemies.
If you are still alive after peeling go offensive with some
Nimbus Strike and
Crushing Blow combos on whoever is left to kill on the enemy team. Remember at this stage to keep a ward and a watchful eye on BOTH
Dragon
and
Baron Nashor
Role in Team Fights

Wukong can have a very vital role in team fights. This is especially true when paired with champions that have affects that hit multiple targets. I will go on to describe this in a little bit.
When entering team fights you should charge in with you E skill or
Nimbus Strike. This damages three enemy champions at the same time. However aim strictly for the AD Carry or AP Carry. (Examples are:
Ezreal,
Kog'Maw,
Vayne,
Ahri,
Anivia,
Cassiopeia etc). These champions tend to be the most squishy but deal out LOTS of damage with their auto-attacks and rounds of spells. So find your squishy target then after landing
Nimbus Strike complete the combo with
Crushing Blow dealing lots of damage.
NOW ONTO WHAT MAKES
Wukong GREAT FOR TEAM FIGHTS. After you have done what I said above it's time to activate your ultimate
Cyclone. This will cause every member of the enemy team caught in it to get knocked up into the air causing them to stand still momentarily. This could give the time necessary to win a team fight. It is also a great thing to use if a team fight is happening underneath of one your turrets.
TRY TO COMMUNICATE with your team to plan when to use
Cyclone. However I know very well that sometimes you don't have the time to so use the ult when you feel the time is right.
Cyclone works especially well with a lot of champions and their ultimates. Examples include but are not limited to:
So as you can see that
Carrying in Ranked SoloQ with Berzerk

So now that you have learned about Wukong you want to know about carrying with him in ranked. Well I can personally tell you that if played smart Wukong can be an amazing carry for your soloQ games. In this section I will provide you with the method I used to carry 2 of my accounts to gold Elo.
1). So first off the draft pick. If you get an early pick I would advise going mid as Wukong as they will try and counterpick you as a top lane. If you are a later pick you can ask for either mid or top lane as it should be harder to counterpick you.
2.) Aggression is key. In a game where you need to carry you don't have time to not be making plays. Everything you should be doing should be working towards improving your teams gold lead. Killing your opponent, roaming mid and bot, and taking towers/Dragons should be your key factors towards looking into early game. If you opt to do a heavy roaming path I would advise Boots of Mobility so that you can get more out of your decoy stealth. Knowing Wukong's damage capabilities is a key factor in being able to do these things. Wukong can usually look for kills at lvl 4 an level 6 depending on his lane opponent. Your ultimate will be the key to your aggression so you should be aware of its cooldown with every decision you make. After you kill your lane opponent a few times and have denied him CS you should take the tower and roam. This will cause 1 of 2 things to happen.
- Your lane opponent will try and follow and come fight missing farm and staying weak.
- Your lane opponent will stay top and farm allowing you to give your team a 5v4 advantage all over the map.
4.) Take the lead don't follow your katarina around who is just running around looking to jump on the first person she sees. Tell your team a plan establish yourself as the one who will make the calls. Team disorganization is a MAJOR cause for losses in soloQ. I have had games where my team has thrown a 20 kill lead because no one wanted to take charge and get the team to group and push objectives. Know how the game flows what to do at what times and where to be.
5.) Set the game to move to your beat. You always want to be the one setting up scenarios. Where the fight takes place how the fight works out etc. Make the game flow with the decisions YOU make, not someone on the enemy team. You want to be the ones forcing baron, not the ones getting forced to stop the baron.
These 5 things are honestly what has given me the ability to carry myself up the leagues. Below is one of my soloQ games as Wukong where I won my lane early and spread kills to my team.
Wukong's Enemies: A-G

- Try to stay out of
Twilight Shroud as it will slow you - Save
Decoy for when you NEED it so you can try to escape from her
Shadow Dance if necessary. - If you get hit with
Mark of the Assassin do not let her auto-attack to proc the mark. - Will most likely not be kill-able before level 6 but after 6 you can definitely kill her.
- Use
Vision Wards to help see
Akali so she cannot hide in her
Twilight Shroud - Shutting down
Akali is a major accomplishment and really needs to be done. Fed
Akali often leads to a loss for you.

- Avoid
Rupture at all costs.
Feral Scream will silence you. Full AP
Cho'Gath this skill will hurt a good amount.
Vorpal Spikes throws spikes in the direction
Cho'Gath is facing.- Is certainly kill-able before level 6. This is when
Cho'Gath is weakest. - After level 6 attack
Cho'Gath with ganks and when
Feast is on cooldown if you can. - Having a hard time in general? Only attack when your jungler comes to help.

- One of your biggest counters. Try to freeze the lane outside of your turret so you can farm.
Darius will naturally push the lane if he uses
Decimate in your minion wave. Try to get him to do that.- He has no escape mechanisms so ask for ganks early.
- Use
Decoy after
Apprehend is used if you get caught. - Use
Decoy to bait
Noxian Guillotine. The skill will NOT reset if he kills your clone. - You will lost duels against
Darius but it is harder for him to escape ganks. Fight him with your jungler.

Fiora is a much stronger level 1-2 fighter than you. Wait until level 4 to start trading with her.
Riposte blocks
Crushing Blow so waste basic attack before using
Crushing Blow on her. Thanks to the range buff on
Crushing Blow it is harder for her to predict it.- Whenever
Fiora uses
Blade Waltz use
Decoy. It'll stop her ultimate and leave you unscathed. - After level 6 you can definitely kill
Fiora. Use the trick above on her and just combo her. Without her ultimate having affect she will become more scared of you especially if you kill her. - Before level 6 call for ganks if you want to try and kill her.

Gangplank can **** on you for levels 1-3 but after that the lane will even out as long as you didn't give him any kills.
Parrrley can do a lot of damage especially if he is building crit items.- Look for opportunities to kill
Gangplank after level 6 and when he has little to no mana. You can kill him quite easily at that point. - Use your
Ignite after he uses
Remove Scurvy to secure your kill. - Make sure you have wards placed before going in on
Gangplank because if you get hit with
Cannon Barrage and you get ganked you are pretty much screwed.

- Avoid facing off against
Garen early game because he out damages you by A LOT. - Another one of your counters.
Garen is very hard to play against as
Wukong and I do not recommend you pick him if you know you are going against
Garen. - Avoid sitting in his
Judgment as much as possible and do not fight him in it. - Play the farm game like with
Darius. Try to freeze your lane right outside your tower range and farm. - You will most likely not be able to kill him at all before level 6 and even after level 6 it is still hard to do in lane.
- Try to get him to use
Demacian Justice on your clone instead of you. Baiting this can save your life.
Wukong's Enemies: H-N

- Do not try to start trading with her until around levels 4-5. You can try to harass her with a couple of
Crushing Blows before that. - After level 6 you can definitely kill her. Use your combo and when she tries to activate
Hiten Style to hurt you simply
Decoy away back to your tower. - Keep your lane warded.
Equilibrium Strike plus an enemy gank can spell instant death for you.
Transcendent Blades has a relatively short cooldown which means she will have it most of the time when you fight. Do not get hit with all 4 blades. Getting hit with one or two won't hurt you too bad but getting hit with all of them will hurt.- Do not fight her amongst her minions. Between her damage and minion aggro you will more than likely lose the fight.

- Focus primarily on farming. Freezing your lane for the early levels is recommended.
- If
Jarvan IV has NO mana in lane before level 6 you can take a shot at trying to kill him. Otherwise do not try to by yourself. - Even after level 6 it will not be easy to kill him so to ensure a better chance of killing him use your jungler's help.
- Try not to get knocked-up by his
Demacian Standard and
Dragon Strike combo. He will drop the flag behind you and use
Dragon Strike to pull himself to the flag. - Don't use your
Flash unless you really need to. You need it to escape his ult
Cataclysm.

Jax is a tricky champion so you must play carefully against him. Do not feed him as it will end in a loss for your lane and possibly the game.- Do not duel him 1v1 especially after level 6. He will win the trade.
- It is not too hard to kill
Jax especially before level 6 it is just a risky endeavor. Just try to kill him with your jungler. - Focus on farming in this match-up. Freeze your lane for maximum safe farm. If you are low do not try to attempt it as
Jax can towerdive you easily. - After level 6 still only attempt to kill
Jax with ganks or if he decides to start playing stupidly.
Empower will do a lot of damage when maxed and
Jax can dodge your combo by using
Counter Strike which means you will lose the trade without him even doing much.

- He can be ranged and out harass you by poking you down. Try not to let him do that and avoid his
Acceleration Gate and
Shock Blast combo. - Will come down to a skill-matchup. Your damage is pretty even especially after level 6. Jungler presence and skill will more than likely decide the lane.
- When trading with him try to make him waste
Thundering Blow on your
Decoy. This will diminish a good amount of damage from
Jayce. - More easily killed after level 6 especially if
Thundering Blow is on cooldown or he has little mana.

- Play pretty passively and just farm your lane. Freeze the lane like with
Garen and
Darius. If you feed
Kayle it could end up costing you the game. - After level 6 be careful when fighting her as she can use
Intervention to make herself invincible letting her win the duel if it is a close fight.
Righteous Fury allows her to harass you from afar without getting into too much trouble. She is melee but this skill gives her range.- Only attempt to kill her with ganks before and after level 6. If you see her without mana you can attempt to fight her after level 6.

- The biggest counter to
Wukong. He out sustains you. He out damages you. He can see you through your stealth with
Tempest / Cripple and he can protect himself from all of your harass. - Play extremely passively and freeze the lane and farm. You will probably need to be babysat by the jungler unless the
Lee Sin is really bad. - Killing him will not be an easy task. He can just
Safeguard / Iron Will to a minion to get away from you. He can use
Dragon's Rage to kick you away if you use
Cyclone. This is not a fun lane. - If you are playing draft and/or ranked and you see
Lee Sin do not pick
Wukong especially if you know he is going top because if you do you are countering yourself.

- Farm all day. Don't waste your time harassing
Malphite. - Thanks to
Ground Slam your harassment will pretty much be useless. Even with your armor reduction in
Crushing Blow - Attempt to kill
Malphite before AND after level 6 only with ganks. You will need more than yourself to kill him because of how sturdy of a champion he is and the fact that he can get away with
Seismic Shard. - Don't get caught out of position after level 6 as
Unstoppable Force will leave you vulnerable.

Nasus is pretty much just going to sit in his lane and farm. You do the same and make sure to keep up with him is CS.- If you try to harass him he will just
Wither you and walk away. He will then get his health back from
Soul Eater so harassing him is mostly just a waste of mana. - If
Nasus is over-extending and has little mana you can fight him before level 6. You will either get him low or can kill him granted he doesn't just
Wither you right away. - 1v1ing
Nasus after level 6 is a losing effort thanks to
Fury of the Sands. Take him on with ganks and even then there is no guarantee that he will die. - Try to win the game before
Nasus can get to late game. He becomes a real dominant force late game when
Siphoning Strike is really powered up.

- Don't let
Nidalee harass you constantly for free. If she tries to do that punish her with your combo. - Try not to eat as many
Javelin Tosses as you can. Remember the farther away you are the more it hurts. - When fighting
Nidalee always have your lane warded so you do not get a surprise. - Never towerdive
Nidalee after she acquires
Aspect Of The Cougar and do not even bother to try and fight her. She will just run away. - Between levels 1-5 is your harassment time and the best time to kill
Nidalee in lane. You are more than capable of doing that.
Wukong's Enemies: O-Z

- Play very passively and just farm. Freeze your lane. Do not try to trade with
Olaf. If you focus on farming eventually you will become better than him but not in lane. - Only try to kill him before level 6 with help from ganks. After level 6 it will be really hard as your knock-up will not affect him if he uses
Ragnarok.
Reckless Swing deals true damage and will hurt a lot if you let yourself get hit with a lot of them. Best against this is to try and make him use it on your
Decoy
Undertow has a good amount of burst damage and will slow you. He will use that and
Ghost to get away if he has too.

Nimbus Strike + Auto-attack +
Crushing Blow to get past
Aegis Protection- Try to avoid getting hit with too many
Spear Shots. It is not a skill shot so if you are in range it will always hit you. It will drain his mana though. - Is a counter to you but is probably the least dangerous compared to
Darius or
Lee Sin - When you see
Grand Skyfall try to get out of the ring that appears on the ground.
Aegis of Zeonia is a gap closure and can stun you so be careful. Try to bait it with your
Decoy so it stuns it instead of you.- You can kill him after level 6 after you get some items. Before level 6 you can kill him with ganks even more so if you can bait his
Aegis of Zeonia.

- Like against
Olaf just farm your lane and freeze it. You will be better later on in the game so just focus on farming. - Do not try to duel early.
Cull the Meek and
Ruthless Predator will eat you up. Before level 6 just attempt to fight him if you get a gank or if he tries something really stupid like turret diving you. - After level 6 it becomes easier to fight against him especially when you get some items. Your damage will out do his in most fights. Just be wary of minion aggro and do not get stunned by
Ruthless Predator while you are using
Cyclone. - Do not towerdive
Renekton unless his
Dominus is on cooldown. He can use it to bait you and it will more than likely end up getting you killed.

- With his recent nerfs he is not as hard to face in lane anymore however do not feed him at all. He is still very capable of snowballing out of control if you let him.
- While this will most likely be a skill matchup avoid the brush especially when he has 4-5 charges of Ferocity.
- Harass him with
Crushing Blow often. His heal cannot handle the damage especially with 2 or 3 points in
Crushing Blow. - Killing him after level 6 might be a bit difficult. He can use his ultimate to stealth away and gain movement speed. So you can get him low but he might just escape. Killing before 6 is definitely a possibility even though you do not have to.
- Remember to still be farming even when harassing
Rengar. Regardless if you kill him or not in lane if your farm is higher you will be better mid-late game.

- Play passively and farm up. Freeze your lane and focus on out CSing her.
- If you try to duel her in the laning phase you will lose as she will out-damage you throughout early-mid game.
- The only time you should try to kill
Riven is with the help of ganks before and after level 6. - Killing her will not be easy thanks to a stun in
Ki Burst and her mini dashes in
Broken Wings and
Valor so a lot of CC might be needed.

- Do not sit in
Flamespitter. Do not give him free harass. Just focus on farming your lane and freezing it near your tower.
Rumble will naturally push the lane so it should be a bit easier to freeze it. - If you harass him just use a
Nimbus Strike +
Crushing Blow combo and fall back. Do not hang around and only attack him when he isn't paying attention.
Scrap Shield will eat the damage of
Crushing Blow. - I recommend buying a
Hexdrinker after you build your early game items or earlier if necessary. This will help deal with the magic damage and it will be at a time where
Rumble will start to be strong in lane. - When attacking before level 6 only do with a gank. However after level 6 you can attempt to take him on yourself. Remember do NOT feed
Rumble. He is one of the highest snowballing champs in the game. - Do not stay in
The Equalizer otherwise you will be slowed and will be hit with damage per second.

- Be aggressive and push the heck out of him. Do not let him get free harass on you. He will keep throwing
Ki Strike at you so punish him when he does. - When he uses
Stand United to go to another lane keep pushing the lane. Take his tower and continue to push. Between the attack speed from
Nimbus Strike and the extra power of
Crushing Blow on turrets, taking turrets should be pretty easy and quick. - Continue to farm the lane even when you are harassing him. After level 6 no longer focus on trying to kill him that is not the primary objective.
- Before level 6 you can kill him with ganks. Otherwise you will more than likely just get him low and he will escape which is fine as well.
- Keep your lane warded. Getting hit with
Shadow Dash could spell death for you if you get ganked even with
Decoy. However if you can bait the taunt onto your
Decoy onto you then that is well done.

- Play very aggressively out of the starting gate. Fight him level 1. Get level 2 before him. Make him stay below level 6 for as long as you possible can.
- Do not feed him and let him snowball. If you feel you can't handle
Singed by yourself then ask for a babysit even at level 1. It is important to keep
Singed under control. - After level 6 it will nearly be impossible to kill
Singed even with ganks unless he is really overextended or is just playing really stupidly. - Before level 6 you can definitely kill him and that is the point of the aggressive play. However do not sit in
Poison Trail when you fight him if you expect to win.

- Freeze your lane. Do not bother to try and mess with
Teemo. Stay out of his auto-attack range as much as possible (500 units) to avoid taking his poison harass. - You can definitely kill him before level 6 with help from ganks especially if your jungler has some good CC. If the
Teemo is not really smart you can try to harass him but still do not feed him if you try to harass him. - After level 6 you can't really kill him with ganks because he will just set up his mushroom kingdom with
Noxious Trap. You can kill him after 6 but avoid all brush and avoid all mushrooms.

- Play a passive lane and just focus on farming. Freeze your lane. You cannot trade with
Udyr.
Bear Stance will just stun you and leave you unable to do anything letting him just DPS you down with
Tiger Stance - If you try to fight him back he can just soak up all your damage with
Turtle Stance. Therefore you will lose all of your 1v1 duels. - Only try to kill
Udyr before level 6 with jungler ganks. Even then it won't be easy unless your jungler has a lot of CC. - After 6 your damage will increase but will more than likely not be enough to still take him on 1v1. It will be easier to fight him though. At level 11 you do have the ability to kill
Udyr.

- Play passively in this lane.
Warwick will just out sustain you. Any damage you inflict on
Warwick he will just heal it all up with his passive and
Hungering Strike. - If you attempt to fight
Warwick before level 6 make sure that you KNOW you will be able to do it. Otherwise he will just heal up and you will have wasted mana. - After level 6 you can kill him if you get a gank or if he starts playing like an idiot. If you find yourself getting hit with
Infinite Duress very often then get a
Quicksilver Sash. You can then build it into
Mercurial Scimitar.

- Another counter to
Wukong. He will out sustain you. He will out damage you and he is just going to more than likely kick your butt. - Just freeze the lane and farm. Focus on nothing but farming. Do not try to take him on and do not try to harass him. It is a waste of time and you can be killed from it.
- Only attack if he has practically no mana. This is going to be the ONLY time you can kill him 1v1 before 6. After level 6 it will be extremely difficult to kill him so I just recommend you use ganks at any time to try and kill him.
- If you know that you will be facing against a
Yorick and you still pick
Wukong you are countering yourself. So don't do it.
Special Thanks and Summary

Wukong is an awesome champion and is one that has the abilities to make himself known in every game he plays in. While some of his skills (
Decoy,
Cyclone) might take awhile to get the timing down once you do you will be a great assets to your team and can be an excellent escape artist.
Like I said please try this build and see what you think is right and wrong before making any comments. Thank you for making me the top rated guide for
Wukong and if this guide is not worthy of it than please give me suggestions to fix it so that it might be. Thank you for reading this guide and hope you have many good games with
Wukong to come!!!
