Xypherous said Riven would be pretty awful in the jungle.

I'd have to agree based on what he's shared before her launch. She has a low base-ad (bad for first route pass-through), no defensive steroids, and no sustain.
She does have an on-hit damage boost from her passive, but it's heavily reliant on bonus-AD.

Junglers need to be strong early game, particularly in the self-sustain/preservation aspect.
Riven is severely lacking and it wouldn't seem that a single Vampiric Scepter would be enough to compensate.



We'll know in 1~2 days when stonewall008 inevitably releases a jungle route video.
(Anyone can finish a jungle route. It's a matter of whose the most efficient and who can gank well)

I hope that the q might move her forth a bit so that she can jump over walls with it or prevent escaping(u chase someone, u use q 3 times and knock him away -.- fail). If she jumps forth a bit she knocks her target backwards. Great for teamfights and chasing.

The combo might be:
R-E-aa-W-aa-Q-aa-Q-aa-Q-aa-R-aa. Remember she stores her passive charges up to three so AS might be good on her. But she is a combo champ so I think it wont be the case.

Runes:

I think Greater Mark of Attack Damage and Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage are standard on her. That would also make jungling viable. Combine that with Greater Seal of Armor and Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction and you have the perfect rune setup.

Item build:

Frozen Mallet + Atma's Impaler will be the best on her. Because she rarely aa's, she can't use the slow on Trinity Force. But anybody needs some form of CC. Other than that Bloodthirster, Mercury's Treads, Youmuu's Ghostblade and Hexdrinker. That combination should work. You get a good balance of armor, magicres and health. Also a bit lifesteal and heavy AD.

Imo, I think she'll be like Jarvan solo top, a bit, at least.

Probably two doran's, brut, phage, atma's, mallet, LW, ghostblade, Black Cleaver, Hexdrinker, FoN will all be good items on her. (you're gonna at least want some AS. Armor reduction also would be awesome with her Q).

She (like talon) doesn't fit the current meta...so in actuality she could probably go anywhere...who knows?

The meta is slowly changing, as RS showed us.

However, my question is why was Jarvan such a good solotop? He had no innate sustain either.

I think she's already broken. No mana? WTF RIOT. Let's just drop mana for everyone and let them spam with bonus damage on autoattacks. Fake mana is really getting old now.

Neither Q nor E can let you pass through walls. Don't even bother trying.

Xypherous couldn't find a wall thin enough, so he disabled it entirely. The dashes do move you but are pretty short.

They're mainly for sticking to a target or re-positioning. Not escape tectics.

She's counter balanced by how squishy she needs to be to deal good damage. The incentives to build AD are very strong, making building tanky less viable.
