Champion Build Guide
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- High Mobility due to Powerball
- Great counter to most AD Champions
- Doesnt lose much HP in the jungle thanks to Defensive Ball Curl
- Has great engage with Powerball
- Taunts for 2.25 seconds when Frenzying Taunt is maxed
- Has offensive scaling on defensive stats such as Spiked Shell, Defensive Ball Curl and Thornmail
- Can 1v1 or 1v2 many Champions in the mid- to lategame, spreading fear across the enemys, forcing them to keep their vision up to date, to avoid you
- As long as noone of the enemy team is behind you, or able to hard CC you, you can get away from barely anything you want, using Powerball
Cons:
- Is counterted by teams with a lot of AP, but that doesn't lose you the game
- If the enemy team if far ahead, you just die when you try to enage a teamfight with Powerball, as you need it to propperly engage a fight, and to escape eventually
- Can have problems dealing with mages such as Veigar, Zyra or Neeko before finishing Abyssal Mask
- If the enemy Team has somone like Fiora, Master Yi, Jax or a fed Yasuo, that can 1v1 you in mid to lategame, you have to be very careful not to meet them alone, when Powerballing through neutral or enemy territory.
Tips and Tricks
- Your passive Spiked Shell grants you Magic on hit Damage depending on your armor, so Rammus is a natural counter to all AD Damage Dealer, also Defensive Ball Curl scales with 100% of your Armor and only 50% of your Magic Resistance (at max rank).
- Also Spiked Shell gives you the paradox bonus to get more offensive power, by buying defense. This is also the reason why Legend: Alacrity and the 10% Attack Speed offered by the mini runes are very good with Rammus
- Your Soaring Slam deals damage to Structers (Inhbitor, Nexus) and double Damage to Tower
- A standart gank manouver is to activate Powerball and try to get behind the enemy champion and knock him further away from his tower, works best against champs with low mobillity, in some cases you may even use Flash to secure this.
- This or other ganks often force the enemy to Flash to safety, this opens them up to a repeat gank.
- You are incredibly strong under your own Towers, as Frenzying Taunt forces them to hit you, and after it timed out you can Powerball or use Chilling Smite to slow the enemy as he's walking away from the Tower
- Frenzying Taunt`s passive attack speed boost refreshes, as long one of your other abillities is active. so you in the jungle you want to use Frenzying Taunt first, then, before its passive is gone use Defensive Ball Curl to keep the attackspeed. As Defensive Ball Curl times out, you can activate Powerball to refresh the buff again. Also when fighting Dragon, Rift Herald or Baron Nashor you can use Soaring Slam to extend it to its maximum.
- After you finsih your Ninja Tabi and possibly Stalker's Blade - Cinderhulk and /or parts of the Thornmail, you are one the strongest duellists in the game, if the enemy is ad, or not very tanky you will most likley be able to get them very low just with you Frenzying Taunt and Defensive Ball Curl.
- In the lategame, you are a Armor torpedo, trying to Powerball use the speed of Dead Man's Plate and/or Turbo Chemtank and/or Flash onto the enemy adc, or other carries
[list/]
Earlygame - Jungle pathing
- In my opinion Hunter's Talisman is the best option to start with, also Refillable Potion is the way to go.
- You would like to start the game on your bot side, because 2 champs help better than 1.
- Depending on how much damage they do, you use Defensive Ball Curl one or twice, after kiting out some hits.
- After this you go Raptors if you started red, and Wolves in case of blue.
- After this, if your enemy isn`t Kindred or Graves with a red buff you most likley want to contest the Rift Scuttler and should save Smite for this occasion. You can often try to hit a Lvl.2 gank with Powerball.
- A play, that works great if the midlane is in the right position, is to stand in the bush as closley to the minions as you can, if 2 die, you get lvl 3 and can then roll into the back of the enemy midlaner, eventually using Flash to secure the knockback from Powerball away from his tower.
- If you dont do this, you then want to move to the side of the jungle you haven`t cleared yet(Avoide the Grump early), get lvl 3 and the other buff, where you use Smite most times. And then look for a gank.
- If no ganks are possible, farm camps until you have at least 950 gold, to get Boots and Stalker's Blade and, if possible a Control Ward.
- Plus I've noticed, that you should have smite ready, or be lvl 4 before you try to get on Krugs, otherwise, with low HP you might struggle here.
Midgame
- Because of the Mobillity offered by Powerball you can use the midgame either to gank and get your carries ahead, work for objectives ( Dragon, Rift Herald) or to farm your jungle if no objectives are up and no lanes to gank.
- Use your Powerball at it's max range to get from camp to camp faster, always get Control Ward and use your Trinkets to see and remain unseen.
- After you got Stalker's Blade - Cinderhulk and lvl 6 -7you can solo Dragon with using your Soaring Slam and timing you our abilities like this to keep Frenzying Taunt's passive for nearly the whole time:
- Powerball then wait out knockback
- Frenzying Taunt + Defensive Ball Curl
- as Defensive Ball Curl times out use Soaring Slam, after it Defensive Ball Curl again too keep Frenzying Taunt's passive for this whole time
- whatch out to have the area clear of vision using Control Ward or Oracle Lens
- it's still usefull to have an ally help you.
Lategame
The lategame with Rammus often depends on the enemys team consitaltion, feed and farm distribution, and many other things consider the following:
- The Mobility offered by Powerball helps you to move around the map very fast, so keep a good look at it, as you often are the first to be able to respond to a tower beeing pushed, an enemy solo walking trough the jungle or just making calls for Baron Nashor, Dragon or Tower push
- You can 1v1 most Champions easily (see Threats) so go for Duells, using Powerball to chatch enemys you get a glimpse on or can assume their path so again Viosion is key to be good with Rammus
- If the enemy tea has a ADC (in best case immoblie like Ashe, Kog'Maw or Miss Fortune) you try to search them on the map, chatching them every time they are solo, moving from lane to lane or farming.
- ...more to come...
Jungling advanced
- Raptors is one of your favorite camps, as you very early heal on them, and clear them pretty fast, so clear them early and get them soon after respawn.
- Krugs is very valuable, but you in most cases need lvl 3 or Smite ready to get them after, for example Red Brambleback - Raptors - Rift Scuttler - Krugs, or Blue Sentinel - Wolves - Rift Scuttler - Red Brambleback - Krugs.
- Gromp seems like a pretty hard camp early, so i sometimes prefere Wolves.
- After you start Red Brambleback, go Raptors and Rift Scuttler you can check the enemy Blue Sentinel, if it's up ward behind it, so you can see the enemy Jungler and try to steal it to get lvl 3.
- With lvl 18 and a solid full build you are able to kill Baron Nashor alone, or even earlier with one Ally ***iting you (best case ADC like Vayne, Kai'Sa or Kog'Maw or Mid)
Teamfighting
- If you have a Hypercarry like Kai'Sa, Karthus, Kog'Maw, Sivir, Twitch, Xayah, Tristana etc you may focus on keeping them healthy and free to fire. especially if the enemy Team has Assasins like Rengar, Zed etc, you can then Buy Protective Items like Knight's Vow Zeke's Convergence or Locket of the Iron Solari
- If the enemy have an ADC, and noone on their team is incredibly fed, you try to save Flash for teamfights in best case and just use it, to get right into their face, (igonring anything, but a Morgana or something like a Sivir Spellshield) use Frenzying Taunt on them and they will most likely die just from that or get killed by your teammates
- ...more to come...
Predator?
I've tried this, and I'm not a big fan of it.
This is the version and builds I found to be most effective.
You lose a lot of your defensive stats with Aftershock and the whole Resolve tree but profit in Burst( Cheap Shot),Mobility( Relentless Hunter, Predator) and Utility ( Ghost Poro) from the Domination tree.

Hi guys,
I`m morlix98, a german lol player, main supp and jungle.
I`ve been around roughly since season 3, but skipped one or two until today.
I started out as Support and Jungle, as I totaly sucked at farming.
After some time I found my personal favorite in the Armordillo Ninja Rammus .
I then started to main him and had a winrate about 66 - 70% for most of the time.
Since there are a lot of diffrent opinions out there on how to play him, I just wanted to add my personal one to the discussion, with my favorite style of the main versions.
So I will try to go into more details on my playstyle,as i get feedback here.
Until then enjoy the Powerballing around, and comment if you want to discuss, flame me or got any opinions.
