Nr. I: Introduction

Hi everyone!

This is my 2nd build on MobaFire. If you will find any mistakes in my build, PW me. I'm not English so there may be some of them. In this build I would like to introduce to my favourite Solo Top - Irelia. Irelia is tanky assassin, that relies on her attack speed and true damage from her Hiten Style. I have mained Irelia for like 3 months, and tested almost vs. every solo top, expecting champions that are underrestimated, like Poppy.

Nr. II: Pros & Cons

Pros

+Deals physical, magic, true damage.
+She's hyper-carry!!!
+Will get super tanky and still deal much damage!
+Scales like a boss
+Very good utility
+She's one shooting AD/AP Carries!!!
+She's overall cool and very fun to play!

Cons

-Kinda weak early game
-Morello hates her ;__;
-Mana hungry if not managed right
-Relies on Hiten Style
-Health is counter of true damage, which is veary cheap in S3

OFFENSE TREE

Tier 1 -We take Summoner's Wrath for improved ignite, 1 point in Sorcery for CDR, and 2 points in Butcher for improved last hits (it's what Irelia relies on)

Tier 2 - We take Deadliness , because its needed to get Weapon Expertise

Tier 3 - We take Weapon Expertise for ArPen, for better trades.

DEFENSE TREE

Tier 1 - We take Durability to have more health. That's all.

Tier 2 - We take Hardiness and Resistance to be better as tank.

Tier 3 - We take Veteran's Scars for more tankyness early game and Relentless to escape ganks easier.

Tier 4 - We take Juggernaut for more max HP, and Tenacious for even more tenacity.

Tier 5 - We take Reinforced Armor to take less damage from AD carries auto attacks.

Tier 6 - We take Honor Guard for... do I really have to expplain THIS?

Nr. V: Summoner Spells

My prefered combinations

Flash is the spell that is needed on almost every champion. It's used to escape ganks, Flash away form turret when you killed your enemy and would normally die, make big plays, etc.
Ignite allows you to take early kills to snowball. If you get 1 or 2 kills in early game, you will beat almost anyone, with some expections ( Nasus and hiss massive attack speed reduction comes to mind). It laso applies regenerations effects reduction that makes killing Swain, Dr. Mundo or Fiddlesticks easier.

Look above.
It makes chasing MUCH easier, it helps Irelia as much as it helps Singed. With this spell you can catch up AD carries that has got low CD blink/dash ( Ezreal and Graves, or Caitlyn comes to mind).

Look above.
It decreases max damage output of champions that rely on attack speed ( Jax or Vayne), and makes your role as anti-carry even better.

Passive: Ionian fervor

This passive is one of the BEST in whole game! It gives you tenacity for each enemy near you. It's range is whole screen 1280x1024 resolution - HUD bar. It gives 10,25 or 40% tenacity. It means you will have 40% in almost whole teamfight!

Q: Bladesurge

This is the skill, which you will use to make big plays, and will help you in last hitting (it's what Irelia relies on). You can completely juke the enemy, by using it on minion on low health (it cooldowns refrehses if you kill unit using it), and then Equilibrium Strike will stun him more likely because he didn't get any damage from Bladesurge, and when he flashes, you can follow him by Bladesurge'ing him. Use this to finish off enemy when diving, and then Bladesurge to the minion to minimize health lose. You can also use this defensively, e.g. Bladesurge Lunge'ing Fiora to swap places with her, and when he Lunges again to you, you just stun/slow her with Equilibrium Strike and escape the gank. It also applies on-hit effect ( Sheen, Wit's End, Blade of the Ruined King).

W: Hiten style

Hiten Style is what makes Irelia. You get 5-13 heath for each autoattacks, and when you activate Hiten Style you get 15-75 bonus true damage for autoattack (both depending on level of Hiten Style), and doubles your already awesome passive! It also procs with Bladesurge. It also can be used to last hit under the turret. Its better to lose 40 mana than 6x 35 mana. Unfortunately, Irelia is weak without it. You should always max this first, with some expections, like Jax, because he can dodge all of your damage, then you should max Equilibrium Strike. You should also max Equilibrium Strike vserus Darius, because he screws Irelia. Sad but true, weak Darius beats very experienced Irelia and vice-versa. But if irelia max Equilibrium Strike, he will be only able to pull you with Apprehend and slow you with his Crippling Strike, then he will get stunned and won't be able to do anything more. You will get out better, because he doesn't max Crippling Strike, and this deals low damage.

E: Equilibrium strike

This skill helps you in trading, because you will be able to stun your enemy and simply outdamage him (until ti's Jax with his Counter Strike turned on), or simply kite him while he's slowed. Remember this isn't reliable stun, because it's based on who is higher % health, you or enemy. It's not worth to let enemy outdamage you only to stun him, but you should try to stun him whenever it's possible.

R: Transcemdent blades

I don't care what someone thinks about this ultimate, but IMO it's broken. Just think about this, you're fighting with Kha'Zix while you're 300 hp and he's 600 with his minions back. You can deal him 200+ damage in 2 seconds and kill all the minions, and get 300+ HP! It can often turn the tables with it's element of suprise. It also saved me many times when i got ganked, and ulti behind me to get HP for hitting enemies and minions, and I escaped with 100 HP, when would normally die. Because of it's low cooldown you can use this whenever you need HP, when you want to recall, or to push. It's damage it's highly underrestimated but trust me, it deals A LOT of damage. It also can be used to activate proc of Sheen in your Trinity Force.

Nr. VII: Items explantations

Startings

sight ward This starting set is used when you know you will play a little bit agressive, so take ward, so you won't get ganked.

This is a defensive starting set. You take this if you know you will get pushed, and you don't need ward, because if your lane is pushed by enemy, you can't be ganked.

This one is also a defensive starting set. It's taken versus high burst match up, because it decreases their maximum damage output by A LOT in early game.

Early game:

We build Phage for some pure AD and some tankyness, to trade and last hit better. I find building Trinity Force as first item on Irelia very strong. It's all in one item and comparing it's stats to the cost it's pretty cheap.

Core items

We build Blade of the Ruined King, and what we get is TONS OF DAMAGE, even MORE with it combined with Trinity Force, and then we build Warmog's Armor for tankyness, because we will go in the teamfight second, and we might get focused. First question: why not something that combines MR and Armor? Health is VERY cheap in S3 and stacking it is very effective.

Late game

I usually take Randuin's Omen and Spirit Visage, because we lack MR and Armor, but you should always build situationally. It's no sense in building Randuin's Omen versus Vayne, because if you get more HP you make her stronger, and 15% attack speed reduction is worse than 20% from Frozen Heart. There is also no sense in building Spirit Visage, if enemy team is full AD.
