Introduction / Jungle Route




Base Stats:

Health: 440 (+86 / Per Level)
Health Regen: 7 (+.65 / Per Level)
Mana: 220 (+30 / Per Level)
Mana Regen: 7 (+.65 / Per Level)
Attack Damage: 54 (+3.3 / Per Level)
Armor: 14 (+3.5 / Per Level)
Attack Speed: 0.625 (+2.9% / Per Level)
Magic Resist: 30 (+1.25 / Per Level)
Range: 125
Movement Speed: 320

Jungle Route:

Hello there internet. This will be my pathetic attempt at a guide. I can only hope you down vote this to oblivion (reverse psychology ftw) and make me famous on the interwebs.

Start off with 5 little girls , and one robe . Then head over to the jungle where more little girls are present and proceed to smack them with your Frenzy .

With the amazing change to the jungle route, you will need 5 little girls to complete it. Now with Pedobear, i always start off at blue. Have a teammate leash it for you and always remeber your Frenzy proc. Also use 1 little girl here as well as your god of hand summenor spell to finish off the blue monster.

Next move on to the 3 big bad wolves. At this point you should have 1 point to Frenzy and Sky Splitter. Start off with Sky Splitter to scare the big bad wolves, then continue to auto attack and use your Frenzy proc. You can use another little girl here, but it is not required.

Now contiune to the 4 witches. Once again start off with your Sky Splitter to scare the witches. Make sure you use another little girl here . Again hit your Frenzy proc when available. After defeating the witches, put one skill point into Thundering Smash.

Now move to the volcano lizard (cousin of volcano banana armor). Here you want to have your god of hand ready to finish it off. Start off with your Sky Splitter to scare the volcano banana armor; then use another little girl here as well as your Frenzy proc and finish it off with your god of hand .

Now at this point depending on if you bottom/top lane is pushed or being pushed decide to go for a gank or completing the jungle at golems. Before you prematurely pop your Thundering Smash (remember the speed boost only applies if you are chasing the enemy) have your 2 bottom laners/top initiate. Make sure to use Ghost if needed. When you run in, make sure you grab one of them with your Thundering Smash and don't forget that Frenzy proc!

If all is successful you should have killed both/at least one of their bottom laners (top if you start on the purple side).



BUY WARDS, DON'T QUESTION IT, IF YOU HAVE SPARE GOLD BUY THEM, BUY TWO, BUY THREE, GET WARDS

Items

Start off with your 5 little girls and 1 robe . Once you finish your jungle route and get a successful gank (granted you get the kill; give it to your AD carry if you can) go back and buy Boots + Vampiric Scepter + Long Sword (if you can't get all three go with Vampiric Scepter). Now continue with your jungle/ganks and finish off Wriggle's Lantern.

The next item after your Wriggles's will always be Mercury's Treads. No substitutions. Don't be an idiot, DON'T DO IT.

The next item i love to buy is Giant's Belt. Not only does it make you more beefy, but once again it will make your W do so much more damage. Get the giants belt and then finish off your Rylai's Crystal Scepter (great for your Sky Splitter/ Stormbringer).

Now depeding on how well the other team is doing (damage wise) either build a Chain Vest or Negatron Cloak. If they are doing equal damage i tend to get both chain/negatron before decding what to do with the two. Generally get either a Force of Nature or Sunfire Aegis depending on their damage output. Force of Nature gives you that MR with health regen + movement speed/ Sunfire Aegis gives you the extra HP for your Frenzy proc as well as the great passive + armor.

SITUATIONAL ITEMS:

Theses are always tricky but good choices are:



Quicksilver Sash: Great item to counter CC towards Volibear; such as Ignite



Aegis of the Leigon: A great finisher if you're team needs that extra MR/Armor.



Banshee's Veil: If the team has a lot of CC, go ahead and buy one. It's always intimidating to see a giant bear with balls.



Guardian Angel: Not the best option, but it is an option. Makes you that much more intimidating/probably less focus on you (which is a bad thing, you are a tank after all). Whatever floats your boat.



Randuin's Omen: A good item if they have an AD carry that is just stomping you. That active comes in handy ^_^



Thornmail: I LOVE THIS ITEM SO MUCH. Great for teams mostly AD.



Frozen Heart: I prefer Randuin over this, however another option if you're not a fan of Randuin. The CDR/passive is nice (mana not that important).



Frozen Mallet: If you're not a fan of Rylai's Crystal Scepter, this is an alternative. However, i prefer Rylai's Crystal Scepter so i can have that bonus AOE slow with his Sky Splitter as well as adding some damage to his Stormbringer.



Warmog's Armor: Now there are a lot of guides i have seen that go ahead and use the Atmogs route. This by all means is still viable in this guide. Instead of building your Wriggle's Lantern, go ahead and right off the bat purchase a Warmog's Armor; team it up with Atma's Impaler and BAM!



Atma's Impaler: If you think you're going to tank enough damage, go ahead and purchase an Atma's. This will further increase your damage due to the amount of health you already receive from Sunfire Aegis and Rylai's Crystal Scepter. If you decided to purchase a Warmog's Armor to go along with your Atma's Impaler; the combo of the two is great for any tanky DPS champion.



Shurelya's Reverie: Gives you more health (again great for your Frenzy to finish off an enemy)/CDR and the passive is a great initiator/escape mech. with your Thundering Smash ^_^



Spirit Visage: Great for your passive and that's about it (i generally never get this as your passive heals you enough without it).

Ability/Skill Sequence


Chosen of the Storm



(Passive): When Volibear's health drops below 30% of his maximum health, he will heal for 30% of his maximum health over the next 6 seconds. This passive effect has a 120 second cool down.

Rolling Thunder



(Active): For the next 4 seconds, Volibear will gain 45% movement speed if he is moving towards a nearby visible enemy champion. Additionally, Volibear's next auto attack during this time will deal bonus physical damage and will fling the target behind him.

■Cost: 40 mana
■Range: 300

Frenzy



(Passive): Volibear temporarily gains bonus attack speed after an auto attack. This bonus stacks up to 3 times and lasts for 4 seconds.

(Active): While Volibear has 3 stacks of Frenzy, he can activate this ability to bite a target enemy. The stacks won't be consumed. The bite will deal physical damage that scales with his own bonus health. This damage will in turn be increased by 1% for every 1% of the target's missing health.

■Cost: 40 mana
■Range: 400

Majestic Roar



(Active): Volibear lets out a powerful roar that deals magic damage and slows nearby enemies for 3 seconds. Minions and monsters are feared for the duration as well.

■Range: 425

Thunder Claws



(Active) For the next 12 seconds, Volibear's auto attacks will blast his targets with lightning that will bounce to up to 3 nearby enemies. Each bolt of lighting will deal magic damage and will only hit each target once.

■Cost: 100 mana
■Bounce Range: 300

Skill Sequence: Thundering Smash> Stormbringer> Sky Splitter> Frenzy

Team Fights:

When it comes down to a team fight, you need to be able to disrupt their main damage dealer. Use your Thundering Smash to disrupt their AD carry/whoever is being a prick. Use your Stormbringer to slow (with the help of Rylai's Crystal Scepter) and to deal chain damage in the middle of all that chaos. Next use you're Sky Splitter to once again slow and your Frenzy proc whenever available.

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE Frenzy PROC WHEN THEY ARE RELATIVELY LOW IN HEALTH, IT WILL DEAL MORE DAMAGE THIS WAY.

SIDE NOTE: Don't be an *** like me and use your Thundering Smash to fling them out of veigar's stun (only do this if your teammate is a scrub nub named Alex). See video here:

REMEMBER YOUR PASSIVE! The Relentless Storm

Stay in that team fight, just when they think you're down, you pull off a Dr. Mundo and get dat HP BACK! (more so if you get Spirit Visage)

Summoner Spells

THE GOOD STUFF:



SMITE: You're jungling get it



GHOST: I prefer this over flash; great for that initial gank



FLASH: Great sub; if you prefer it over ghost

THE OK STUFF:



CLEANSE: Great for getting rid of that nasty Ignite to stop your passive as well as lowering the duration of incoming disables by 65%



EXHAUST: A good choice to pick up if you're going to lane/pick on that AD carry with it :P



TELEPORT: Again great if you're going to lane



PROMOTE: ^What he said

TROLOLOL:



IGNITE: Useless; have your AP carry pick it up



HEAL: Better spells available



SURGE: Again, there are better spells available



CLARITY: Mana is not an issue



CLAIRVOYANCE: Have your support pick this up



REVIVE: ONLY IF YOU UR ENTIRE TEAM GOES REVIVE TELEPORT; then it's ok :)
