Introduction

Hey guys, this is my first build on Mobafire.

First of all, I excuse myself for spelling and grammar mistakes. Since I am german, my english is not best. I hope this is still readable.

I decided to show you my Morde build because I'm pretty successfull with this and I think many players could be as good or even better, if they only knew how to play..

So here I will try to explain the following:

Runes - why did I pick these?
Masteries - Why this way?
Summoner spells - Pick or not pick, that's the question!
Item choice - Is this the best way to equip Morde for battle?
Playstyle - How to use this all on the fields of justice?

Hope you enjoy and learn something about my favourite champ in LoL.

I usually play Morde solo mid or solo top, get fed somewhere in mid game, get focussed, refuse to die and win.

The clue here is the mixture of survivability and damage out.

You will see later.

german version planned!

Runes

Here we go, the rune setup is on schedule:

- well, that's easy to explain.. More mpen, more dmg. More dmg, more shield (and spellvamp!). More shield, more survivability.
That results in: More damage + more survivability.

these give you some more survivability, important in early game, still useful in late game.

just to add some more survivability.

Greater Greater Quintessence of Swiftness Since Morde is pretty slow, we'll compensate that with some extra speed from quints

3% is enough bonus movement? then add some AP quints for extra damage

if you want to, feel free to replace the quints with AP and the Seals with something you better like, it's up to you..
I'm happy with this, but if it's best.. I got no idea... depends on your personal playstyle I guess ;)

Masteries

A'ight, here are the masteries.

There's not much to say here, I go 9/21/0.

Important here are:

for more hp/5
and
for some more CD reduction
as well as

and for sure we don't want to miss the 10% mpen from

Summoner Spells

Summoner Spells...

Not much place for discussion here.

Let's have a look on every Spell:

Flash - You may pick this instead of Ghost. guess it makes no difference
Ghost - This or Flash, as you want. but take one to be more flexible
Ignite - Big bad Combo with your ulti. Must pick!

Exhaust - OK. If you want it, pick. not my first choice tho..
Teleport - Can help from time to time....

Clairvoyance - useful sometimes. but leave this for supports.
Clarity - No mana
Cleanse - I have never felt a need for this
Garrison - Nope
Heal - No need for this if you play well. Leave for supports
Promote - Well it's... funny sometimes.. but not useful..
Revive - You won't die that often...
Smite - No jungle - no smite
Surge - Not useful on Mordekaiser

Skill Sequence

let's go on with the Skills...

The reason why I'm maxing out Siphon of Destruction and Mace of Spades over Creeping Death is farming and harrassing.
Start the game with 1 point in "e" and become happy. you will be able to last hit creeps, you have some nice range to harrass, especially melees will hate you.
With some training, you will hit an enemy with almost each of your Siphon of Destruction AND get 1 or 2 last hits the same time. It's all a point of positioning and training. learn more in chapter playstyle.

With your Mace of Spades, you will extremely boost your 1vs1 Damage output and with some training, you will be able to hit enemys even when they are moving out of range, just by attacking the right minion.

1 point goes into Creeping Death, just to have one more skill to deal some extra damage.
Use it on friends or yourself when in mid of enemys to deal some extra damage and to slightly boost mres and armor.

Items

Start off with Dorans Shield. Health and hp5 will serve you well.
Your first target will be Sheen to greatly boost your damage output.

Next should be boots and Hextech Revolver, become mobile and get that spellvamp to compensate your spell costs.

After you finished your Lichbane, wich gives you another nice boost on your damage and some movement speed to chase those who try to flee, you will want some cc, since you are one of the few champions in lol who have no own cc AND no own escape mechanism.

And what's better for your cc than a Rylai's Crystal Scepter? Especially when it comes together with some bonus AP and HP!

Finish your Will of the Ancients next to complete your core build.

From now on, you should be kind of immortal! You will do amazing amounts of damage and thanks to your spellvamp and Iron Man you will get a lot of survivability from this damage!

now we want MORE damage, so we need more AP.

Herefor we pick the best AP Item in game: Rabadon's Deathcap.

or do we want more survivability?

GO for Guardian Angel, Force of Natrure or Thornmail, whichever you need.

Playstyle

Choose a solo lane, top if possible.
If you're 1on2, play defensive, last hit and harrass a little bit. Wait for the moment to strike, you should only leave your cover if you're sure you can get atleast 1 kill.
Outfarm and outlvl them, become stronger and eat them when you're ready. Just be patient.

If 1on1, you may play a little more offensive. but, for sure, beware of junglers! Try to always have a ward with you. Here, too, farm and harrass. And hit them when they don't expect you to.

If, for any reason, 2on1 or 2on2, watch your mate, play together, trap your enemy and save your friend.
And never forget. you will get fed in most games and you will be able to carry. but that's not your job! Save your carrys before you save yourself, secure your team either by helping them to safety - or by just killing the foe.
oh and your Creeping Death.. is just perfect for friends like Akali or Lee Sin.
See when they want to jump forward, and place your shield on them. This secures them (armor and mres) and and the same time boosts the damage output.

In team fights, let your team focus your favourite target for Children of the Grave.
This should either be a range AD (my favs here are Twitch and Ashe)) or a melee Hybrid
like Akali.

Focus them down instantly with placing Igniteand Children of the Grave, then hitting with Siphon of Destruction and Mace of Spadesuntil death.
Most carrys are down in below 3 Seconds if focussed like this.

Doing this turns the fight from 5vs5 to 6vs4 instantly.

However, your focus should always be on the most dangerous target, either you use your Children of the Grave on this one or, if possible, you save it for the next target or fleeing carrys with low hp. place and see them panic.

try to save your ulti for kills. place it when the enemy is low or when you are sure you will ht him afterwards with no chance for him to escape.

Oh and one last thing. Don't killsteal from your carrys. They really need the kills, for you it's just helpful. And you will get enough kills anyways.

Summary

A'ight, that's it for Morde so far, hope you learned something about the way I play and kill.

Let's mention the most important points once more:
  • You're still no Carry. Kills are nice, but not necessary. Carrys are worth more than you are (except they're feeders, for sure)
  • Don't flame!
  • You will be focussed if you play well. Keep your eyes open and play careful, they will lurk everywhere to catch you alone.
  • Don't flame!
  • Pick your items situational, see what you need!
  • Don't flame!
  • Buy wards!
  • Don't flame!
  • LoL is a team game. If you want to play solo games go offline and play RPGs.
  • Don't flame!
  • LoL is a team game. Be nice to your team and play with them.
  • Don't flame!
  • LoL is a social game. Be nice to your team. AND to your enemys!
  • Don't flame!
