2.Pros/Cons

Pros: +Very durable. +Has good escape mechanism. +Can heal very quickly. +Good mobility. +Can be played some kind of AP. +Goes anywhere where his allies do. +Can solo Dragon and Baron Nashor (Baron on higher levels). +Energy system. +NINJA!

Cons: -His taunt can be fail sometimes. -Can be fail tank if his Q is maximized first(I did that first few times). -Very high energy cost taunt(more than half your energy). -Must always stay in the fight.

Let's present you a few summoner spells you might like to use.

Viable



This is useful summoner spell if you like mobility.



This is a spell that I mostly use on tanks(including Shen).



This is a spell that I strongly recommend on Shen.
Answers you will find in Frequently Asked Questions chapter.



Almost nobody uses this anymore,but this can be quite handy if used correctly on Shen.
This will also be explained in Frequently Asked Questions chapter.


Less viable



This is,if I would guess,not so used summoner spells for Shen.
Also this will be explained....



This is not much needed spells when playing Shen.
Believe me,this is not good as Teleport or Flash on Shen.

7.Core items&Some other viable builds

His core items are Sunfire Cape and Warmog's Armor.Those items will give you good damage(not because only of Sunfire Cape's passive also from his passive) and good sustain.


I will feature some builds here(it will have recommended build including 8 items):

8.Optional items

Rylai's Crystal Scepter is an very viable item,that gives you HP,AP and slow when you cast Shadow Dash and throw Vorpal Blade.


Atma's Impaler is not so bad item for a tank who has tons of HP and plus,it provides you with needed armor.


Thornmail is a pretty viable item on Shen because it's cheap and gives you a lot of armor,and damage return.I prefer Frozen Heart over Thornmail,which will I explain in Frequently Asked Questions chapter.


Frozen Heart is an underestimated and underused item on Shen because it gives you mana.
It's ok not to use,but I like it because of the passive slow,which will,together with Randuin's Omen make serious AS reduction.Although,it is "frozen" it does not slow movement speed,but our next optional item does.


Ok now, Frozen Mallet is also underused item on Shen because it gives damage...Blah,blah,blah, Frozen Mallet does give you damage,but also,provides you with 700 HP(more than Sunfire Cape and 40% slow,so tell me,who doesn't need that?

These items are both great to use on Shen because of attack speed and other stats.More attack speed=more triggering of passive=more damage.[[Neshor's tooth] gives you AP,AS and CDR.Wits End gives you MR,AS and reducing enemy MR.

That was for the ones that didn't know that.

These items are yours to choose which one to buy.

9.Frequently Asked Questions

1.Masteries.I promised to say a few words about them so here they are:
-Flash: this is the spell that I highly recommend.Along with Shadow Dash you can run into jungle and escape by many paths.Also if you would feel safer,you can use your ultimate, Stand United to get to any of your allies,either to save them or retreat to them.
-Revive: I really don't like the fact that no body uses Revive anymore.It does have long cooldown,but you can get over it by Enlightenment and Randuin's Omen by reducing the cooldown.It may seem small,but reduction is more that 50 seconds,and if you have Guardian Angel,you will not see any cooldown loss.If you are dead, Guardian Angel will save you,so you will be practically always on the battlefield.Isn't that awesome?Every player in enemy team will say like:"Look at the Shen,he's insane!That dude is always in combat!We can't kill anybody when he is around!!".
Let's just don't get over it too much,still enemies are not so useless,they can still kill at least 1 champion(or can they?lol).This is underused spell and it should be used more often in my opinion.
-Ignite: well,this is not so used spell either,but this is still used if you like aggressive play(bruiser Shen).
-Ghost: although I didn't say that I will comment on this one,I just wanted to explain why is that so.Because Shen is a champion that has instant chase,instant escape,instant teleport.He is not a champion to chase or to be chased(like Singed check this out Why do we use Ghost on Singed?).
2.Items.
- Frozen Heart: I prefer this over Thornmail because of the passive attack speed slow.
