Introduction
Hi i'm Thanjo from the LoL PH server currently at Diamond Division. I may not be a pro player, but ive been playing LoL since the second season, and since
Amumu is one of my main(fave) champ, i decided to make a guide. Enjoy!
Note: This is my first ever guide, and since english is not my native language, expect a few(a lot) of grammatical errors. All my inputs here are solely based on my experiences.
Amumu used to be one of the most banned champ in LoLs previous seasons. Why Amumu? well simply because Amumu can dominate in a clash with his AoE CC Curse of the Sad Mummy and his gap closer stun, Bandage Toss. As a jungler, a built in tanky stats plus Amumu's Despair and Tantrum gives him decent clear time, he is also a GREAT ganker if you hit your Bandage Toss, ill add more to that later on.
Pros And Cons
Pros
|
+ Has a gap closer stun + Has an AoE stun.. ish + Built in tankiness + Peels of high HP champs + High AP ratios for a tank + Can really affect the morale of the game |
Amumu's Bandage Toss Curse of the Sad Mummy disable combo makes him a GREAT ganker and a great team player. His Despair and Cursed Touch peels off heavy tanks(including the jungle mobs). Tantrum's mechanics enable him to deal damage continuously while tanking enemy auto attacks. All of Amumu's skill scales with his AP, making him a powerful mage(though he's not). Enemies easily tremble in the presence of an Amumu they all fear the sad stunner, specially if you use his stuns efficiently |
Cons
|
- Heavily relies on Blue early - Can get easily counter jungled - a sitting duck if he misses his stun - Ult has a long CD - hard to master - has no descent skin nor commands :( UPDATE PLEASE |
Amumu is relatively weak early game, jungler champions like Lee Sin, Kha'Zix, Elise, Lee Sin (cause really i hate him) etc. can easily kill him at early levels, and once you get caught, you might have to flash out or risk losing your blue buff, dont ever duel at early levels. ill explain more later on. Also Amumu relies on his team mates, even a GodMumu can't carry a game with weak a** team mates. |
Personally, i believe in using the top tier of every rune type. Always settle for the best right?
- Greater Quintessence of Ability Power: // Because all of your skill scales on your AP. And since my starting build only produces tankyness, the extra AP will be a huge help.
- Greater Mark of Magic Penetration: // Because almost all of your damage output(including Sunfire Aegis is magic.
- Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power: // Because all of your skill scales on your AP(these plus the AP quints plus the 9 points from the offensive mastery will add another 1% on your Despair). Greater Glyph of Magic Resist is good too. :D
- Greater Seal of Armor: // Because your a tank, deal with it.
One for the anti critAnd one for the anti magicAs you can see, i use a standard 9-21-0 for my jungler Amumu. Because Amumu is naturally an AP tank, he would benefit from from everything tank related or AP related. The 9 points from the offensive tree enables you to reach the 1% addition to your Despair, for me that's worth more than 9 in the utility tree. On the Defensive tree, these three points( Tough Skin and Bladed Armor ) will make your jungler clear time faster than usual. As i said before, i believe in bringing the best out of everything, so i highly appreciate the mastery Juggernaut and Enchanted Armor . Enchanted Armor amplifies Hardiness , Resistance , Legendary Guardian , your runes and items which is very good, while the Juggernaut amplifies Veteran Scars and all your HP items, for short all of my mastery help each other, which is nice(i can do the math, maybe soon). Tenacious is great, you can reach 45% tenacity with Spirit of the Ancient Golem:D
As you may have noticed, the difference between the 2 build is that one chooses Reinforced Armor and the other Evasive
Reinforced Armor counters crit type champs, Tryndamere, Yasuo, almost all ADR, etc. The 10% reduction is great help(i can also do tha math, but then im not sure which comes first, the block or the armor reductions).
Evasive counter Annie, Kayle, Fizz basically all AoE magic damage. However its only 4%, though small, the reduction is appreciated :D
Smite? NO, stahp, theres no getting out of this, this is the way of the jungler. Sure you can survie the jungle without Smite , but thats not it's sole purpose, Smite improves your clear time heavily, Smite ensure the jungle kills(including dragon and baron nashor), Smite also heals you with Spirit of the Ancient Golem, you are a GODmumu SMITE THEM ALMIGHY SMITER!!!!
Flash is pretty basic stuff. You want to fight, Flash in, you wanna run Flash out. Flash in Flash out. Amumu however, benefits from Flash. Flash enables Amumu to Bandage Toss an enemy, or ensure a successful Curse of the Sad Mummy (more to that on the Skill area).
