His q drag-through gives him a big attack speed buff, extra magic damage, extra attack range, and slows them. This ability is up every 8 seconds level 1, which is relatively short. His passive shield's cooldown is not very long, and the cooldown is reduced every time he successfully lands an ability (including q drag-through). He also uses energy instead of mana, which means he doesn't have to worry about conserving mana. Not to mention the grasp procs with a regular q auto does a lot of damage and gives some sustain, so the dragthrough isnt even always necessary.
