You have changed my opinion of TrinForce. I actually get it pretty late when I'm playing tank-poppy, and not at all when playing suppordle.
Or the actually consistent slow. Or the 1k extra gold it would take to build a Trinity Force.
I think Trinity Force is a great item on Poppy, but I think it's ridiculously expensive. So expensive, in fact, that I wish it was a little better than it is.
The Phage proc, the crit, the attack speed, the mana and the 10 attack damage are largely going to waste. Personally, I'd rather just leave my Sheen as a Sheen, rather than paying 2600g to get 12% movement speed, some AP, a bit of bonus health and half another Sheen. In fact, I rarely build either Trinity Force or Frozen Mallet anymore, focusing first on my more support-y or tank-y items first, like Randuin's Omen, Abyssal Scepter, Guardian Angel and Force of Nature. I always have a Sheen, though.
Well, IMO Trinity's slow is actually fairly reliable if you're Poppy; if she charges someone, I think it's pretty unlikely the target will get away before it procs, and then you're sure to proc it again before it wears off AND they get away. The 820 gold difference is certainly substantial, but if you have Phage and Sheen in your items already, you're 1495 gold away from Trinity and 1935 gold away from F. Mallet -- Trinity is actually cheaper at that point!
But you're a fan of my Runner Poppy build so you know what a speed addict I am, and I can admit a little bias. I'd be building Zeal anyway and then it really is a no-brainer. But for an offtank role, having almost TRIPLE the health bonus is certainly something to consider. I just don't think the slow reliability is a big factor, nor gold per se (for reasons above), which may influence your calculations.
On the other hand, I can totally understand going in a completely different direction than either item. On the rare occasions I don't get Trinity ASAP, I often ignore it entirely.
P.S. Finally fixed the dodge runes :P I guess I fixed it in the description back when and forgot to update the cheat sheet.
It's a SUPPORT Poppy build.
GP10 and assists, man.
