I'm not sure if anyone has written something like this before, but yesterday the rage-trolls got annoying enough that I felt the need to write this up.

Quoted:

Dementor

(Digital Life Sciences / Animals / Noun)
A player of a moba-style game that is frustrated and uses extreme harassment techniques in an attempt to feel better about their life, or legitimize their failures in the game. Dementors often resemble a school bully or a dictator in that they create a fiction of events, and repeat that fiction so often in [All] chat that they begin to believe it. In a game where play style preference is more important than numbers, dementors look for any sign as a reason to ridicule their scapegoat, often pointing to items or untraditional strategy as proof of superiority.

But despite the scapegoating and harassment, illegitimate reporting is what makes these creatures so viscous and feared among the world's moba players. Dementors attempt to remove the joy, not only from their scapegoat's present moment, but for all time. This attack, for it's finality, is known as The Dementor's Kiss.

If you come in contact with a dementor, say as little as possible, and if they are still posing a problem, use the ignore function. Do not attempt to engage the dementor! All communication with a dementor is fuel for their actions, which is why refusing to respond leaves these dangerous creatures helpless.

I'm also thinking about making a comic strip or maybe a machinima series entitled, EthicLoL. This idea ties into it.

I feel like MOBAs are the most fun and competitive type of gameplay out there for me right now, due to the ability to drastically change strategy and do it effectively at almost any point in a game. However, I also feel like the absolute most anger-filled people also play this game-style, and often times not very well. Dementors usually look decently skillful in a game, by teammate comparison. But this is only because they create such disharmony between teammates that they lose games that they would normally win if they just played the game. Beyond that, I feel at least a little bit depressed for the future of the human race everytime I run into dementors because, with the possibility of a fully simulated society on the horizon, these people mirror the worst in humanity, only they don't hide it because it's easy to get a teammate to agree with stats, instead of making them understand the whole macro game concept. They actually encourage more people to become dementors, instead of hiding their negativity like the average person in the world. If this kind of behavior persists across to realistic simulations that people are entering for entertainment, we could be seeing the birth of frighteningly realistic digital colluseums, where torture, which is the root of the dementor's drive, is a form of mass entertainment.

I hope we don't stray that far from empathy, but I believe it's possible, considering the subjective nature of life. I mean, dementors have brought out a little dementor from time-to-time in almost all of us. I'm not blameless, I sometimes try negative reinforcement, but I don't think it's helpful, and it makes me feel bad about myself. I have suspicions that dementors sometimes feel bad about themselves too, but they don't show it in chat.

This is ********, and you have no idea how the tribunal works. If someone makes a faulty report, say, verbal harassment when you said nothing wrong, tribunal checks the chat log, and sees that you weren't raging. pardon
They report you for intentionally feeding and you're 3/6/4? nope. Only time someone gets noticed for intentionally feeding is something like 0/15/0.

Maybe these kids are raging at you because you're feeding, building wrong, etc.

Also, numbers are more important than playstyle. If you are 3-0 as an adc with 150 cs, and their adc is 0-3-0 and 30 cs, numbers dont' lie. you've won the game. maybe your playstyle helped you get those numbers, but in that case, why differentiate between them?

p.s. you get banned if you report too much.

My friend had it happen 2 times.

I understand how the tribunal works, at least in part. My point was not to insinuate that people would get illegitimately banned. My point was that this is the threat most commonly used. Thus, they are attempting to instill fear into anyone who unwittingly believes their threats have weight. They are out to terrorize the person.

Do you have any suggestions on how I could make that part more clear, without being to wordy? (which the original post already was, it really needs some editing. I just prefer to get feedback early before sinking a lot of time into something.)

Also, my point about numbers was not to say that numbers are insignificant. The problem comes when people play any style of a champion which isn't the pro-preferred method. This is used to pigeon-hole the person if someone on their team gets angry. This is seen in several forms, from attempts to bully players into playing a role that they previously stated they were not pursuing that game, such as hybrid builds and off-tanks, preference of lane zoning methods, amount of harass you feel comfortable with when someone is truly mia, etc. Having a cohesive playstyle with all elements of the game is more important than just pursuing the best possible stats, because often times, our own playstyle has quirks that make certain commonly used methods a bad idea. That's how humans work.

Again, now that I've elaborated, do you have any suggestions on how to make that thought more clear in the original post without overdoing it? I am hitting a wall on any type of analogy that might make this idea concise.
