i am also a big middlesticks players and i would recommend getting a hextech revolver first. The increased spell vamp is enough to turn a 1v1 fight around if you were just ganked, or to regain health easier. Im still in silver so it's not a pro tip just a suggestion :0 good luck in getting out of silver i feel your pain
