I'm a huge Orianna fan, so anything for Ori gets me excited. I think this is a pretty sweet idea, although potentially pretty eerie, especially if she evolves on kills and assists. I don't know how familiar you are with Orianna's lore, but if you read her champion judgement, we see that she was given a facsimile of life with a previously theoretical creation called the Infinity Gear. The Ball is somewhat unique for being more electrical in nature rather than clockwork, and is something that really needs to be incorporated into the evolution.
From a lore point, I see it as the Infinity Gear evolving into something else. It was purely theoretical, so perhaps it growing into something more is an unexpected development. To start off, with have ordinary Orianna, but we might need something a little more rather than plain old classic. Some new quotes certainly, perhaps an alternate design, maybe some suggestions of the transformation beginning. It ends with Orianna having become fully human, with ordinary voice overs and new phrases (potentially plus a heartbeat effect, replacing the clockwork ticking present in her ordinary VO). Animations would have to change to reflect limits of human motion as well as becoming more graceful and less robotic. I'm not entirely sure what to do with the ball, but at the moment I see it erupting into sphere of light with the final evolution, perhaps the heartbeat could originate from it, or some sort of sonorance.
Intermediate stages are tricky, the ball could become unstable, the electricity gradually escaping from the shell as it breaks apart, but what about Orianna herself? I've not seen the film so I can't take a great deal of inspiration from there, although I did read a plot synopsis. The most obvious gradual evolution is that of her demeanor and potentially VOs interacting with allies and enemies as her morality shifts from that of the alien robot to that of a human girl. The visual nature of her intermediate stages is trickier.

As you know they recently brought out Udyr Ultimate skin and they are planning to bring out Janna in the near future but I think the next ultimate skin should actually belong to Orianna and be a homage to Robin Williams 'Biccential Man' where Orianna begins as a robot and maybe during levelling up or prehaps with Kills and Assists turns into her original self (her human form before she died).
