Well it is a flavor thing. In FPS it seems to be clan in MMORPGs Guild. It may be due the gaming back ground of that persons. While MMORPGs offen take place in fantasy middel age like worlds where the world guild would stick out in a FPS it would sound odd. The world clan on the other hand was firstly used in FPS and Stragety games (SC). Where the number of members can range from a few guys to a full scale team with everything.

Too many Naruto fans playing LoL...

Why do most people call their organizations clans and not ,teams, syndicates, affiliation, alliance, band, bunch, circle, clique, club, coalition, combination, combo, company, confederacy, confederation, cooperative, corporation, crew, crowd, family, federation, fellowship, fraternity, gang, guild, hookup, league, mob, order, organization, outfit, partnership, pool, rat pack, ring, society, sodality, sorority, syndicate, tie-in, tie-up, tribe, troops, troupe, union, zoo.
Why clans? I mean its clearly unoriginal and most clans shut down within a month or two because of lack of organization or members. It seems like making it stand out would make it last longer.....
This might just be a random thought, if it is feel free to disregard it lmao.
