I feel like columns code pretty much fulfills this purpose. What will tables provide that columns won't?

The ability to link to the database in the table without breaking everything.

I don't see how that would help since that has to do with line spacing / font size. When you link to the database the icon attached to it makes it take up more room than plain text.
