Has anyone ever tried this?

His Blood Boil means your AS would be through the roof, and it can basically be up permanently (as long as you have mana). Ice Blast to keep people from getting away.

Sort of like AD Cho Gath I guess.

Yes, it's funny as hell. You know, THE time out of ten it works. The problem is you can only build his stuff if you're top lane (you would be a terrible support, you dont want to jungle like that, cant mid...) and most solotop would smash you. It'll work for sure if you manage to survive though...
