/dev Update: ARAM: Mayhem

Introducing ARAM: Mayhem, the newest League of Legends game mode. It's like ARAM, but with more mayhem!

2025 has been the year of experimenting with ARAM. During Act 2, ARAM got some major changes which included a revamp of the champion select system in ARAM and the addition of two new maps, Koeshin's Crossing and Butcher's Bridge. With the champion card system in place, players have have more options to choose from in select, while the new maps were meant to undo some Howling Abyss fatigue for longtime ARAMers.

While making these changes, Riot assured players that they didn't intend to ever shake up ARAM too much. After all, it's been Riot's most successful alternative game mode since its inception for a reason. Many League of Legends players *only* play ARAM, which is a testament to its fun factor and longevity

So, in lieu of making any more changes to ARAM, Riot is introducing a new game mode—ARAM: Mayhem.

ARAM: Mayhem

In a nutshell, ARAM: Mayhem is ARAM with Augments. Yeah, just like the Augments already in Arena and Teamfight Tactics. For those who don't play either, Augments are powerful buffs that grant wacky power spikes to champions that go beyond what ability rank ups and items can do. Some augments are functionally buffs, while others can alter the very mechanics of how certain champions work or what their abilities can do.

In ARAM: Mayhem, each player will get to choose up to four Augments over the course of the match—one at the beginning, and then on at level 7, 11, and 15. Each time you're prompted to select an Augment, you'll be able to select one of three possible random choices, similarly to how Champion Cards work in champions select.

One example of an ARAM: Mayhem Augment we have gotten is the Biggest Snowball Ever. This Augment seems to give champions the ability to create snowballs like those made by Nunu & Wilump, which deal damage and knock up enemies.

List of Augments

We don't know exactly which Augments will be available in ARAM: Mayhem, but Riot has stated that this whole experiment started with the idea of just porting Arena Augments directly in ARAM, and we do have a list of Arena Augments available on the trusty League of Legends Wiki. However, Riot had noticed that simply porting over every Augment was going to be tricky.

In Arena, even when fully Augmented, players only ever had to worry about what Augments their two opponents might have. In ARAM, there are ten players, and the wackiness is bound to get out of control if everyone is Augmented to the max. So instead of porting over every Augment, Riot went on a case by case basis, and eliminated every Arena Augment that had a persistent effect. For example, in Arena, players could select the "Center of the Universe" Augment which would provide champions with a ring of stars that damaged enemies. If everyone in an ARAM match grabbed that Augment, the visual clutter would be off the charts.

Additionally, there will be 40 brand new Augments that were tailor made just for ARAM: Mayhem.

So, though we don't know for sure, we'll be able to find out very quickly. ARAM: Mayhem is live right now on the PBE servers, and will be arriving to the live servers in just two weeks, along with patch 25.21.
