Dive into Set 16’s Lorefinder and uncover all 40 unlockable units, each with its own unlock condition. Complete them all to score exclusive emotes, a Little Legend, and a special Portal.
The Lorefinder
Looking for an extra challenge while you enjoy the latest TFT set? You can get just that by making your way to the Lorefinder subtab under Teamfight Tactics. What’s the challenge? Unlock every single one of the forty new Unlockable units in Set 16 to earn exclusive rewards. We’ll get into the rewards a bit later but just to save you some time: you can unlock up to three Emotes, a “Whisker” Little Legend, and one very special Portal cosmetic.
This is a tall order, but luckily there’s no rush. You’ll be able to work on your Lorefinder all throughout the first part of Set 16. As of today, you have just under six weeks to complete this daunting task.
How It Works
Once you’re in the Lorefinder, you’ll see that some of the Unlockables are in black and white; these are the units you’ve yet to unlock in any of your matches. The Lorefinder will keep track of who you’ve unlocked and who you’ve yet to find, as well as tell you what the trigger for unlocking each unit is.
An un-unlocked unit will be tagged as “Undiscovered,” and you’ll find their trigger by clicking on their portrait. You can also simply pull up our recent article to have a neat list of all of the unlockable units with their unlock triggers in one place to consult even while in-game.
Some of the units have very simple unlocking mechanisms. For example, all of the Shadow Isles units simply require you to collect Shadow Isles Souls. This means that, in one single game, by starting off with Viego and fielding every Shadow Isle unit you find, you’ll easily be able to unlock all four Shadow Isles Unlockables; Yorick, Gwen, Kalista, and Thresh.
Other units have much more complex unlocking mechanisms. A couple of the trickier units are Zaahen, who requires a specific Augment be taken at 2-1, or Ryze, who requires that you field four different Regions in one combat while being at least level 9. Many of the triggers require you to be level 7, 8, or 9, which means you’ll only be able to trigger an unlock if you’re in a fairly solid position in the match.
Once you’ve unlocked all forty units, you’ll receive Old Man Whisker; but the fun’s not over yet. One final challenge you can undertake is to reach top 4 with every single one of the Unlockables and obtain the coveted Purrrrtal Portal as well. Portals are a fairly rare cosmetic, and a free one is a rare treat. However, it’ll require quite a bit of time, luck, and skill to acquire.
