League of Legends (LoL) Question: Kassadin nerfs

Ok so recently kassadin has been hit with some hard nerfs. First his q's base damage was nerfed and then after that hes ult's range as well. I tried playing kass after this but the range on riftwalk was painfully low. He's one of my old favorites so I don't want to give up on him yet be he seems pretty weak right now. Is he actually viable right now?
