A quick tip that helps me is to buy Boots of Mobility. You don't want to be poking in that lane, so as long as you don't get hit, you're out of combat. That 115 movement speed allowd you to avoid...

"I must ask, why not Redemption? It gives you the valuable ability to heal allies in fights in other lanes. Add this to Wish, and you can keep your allies in other lanes alive as well."

"I've always wondered why no one uses Hextech Gunblade with Kai'Sa. With both Ability Power, Attack Damage, and Healing, it seems like a prime choice. Could you clear that up for me?

"What about Athene's Unholy Crucible? Actually healing your allies makes keeping them alive a lot easier, and the extra ability power gives you some help as well."
