Morgana never allowed to be mid?

To my best understanding, Morgana can work either as a support or as APC. It seems however that I might be the only one thinking so. Whenever I try to go mid, I am told to go supp instead....

Why is the meta as it is?

So, I sorta know the so-called "meta" - that is, for example, an adc is supposed to go bot, paired with a support. But, but, are there any guides or articles explaining why is that so?...

Well, I chose MF due to me being a noob and her having 1 difficulty rating. And I grinded her up to mastery score 5. In the meantime, I thought up some kind of an item set for her I was using...
