Lost in my own little world, I barely move to glance around…
Suddenly snow.
Falling white and wild with the wind whipping it along.
As I turn away from the window I shiver with cold I do not feel.
feel the sudden rush of frigid dread at the tempest of frightful ice and biting wind just beyond the glass
the glass that is the only thing between me and the swirling vortex of cold that would seem to echo my heart.
Even as I watch in wonder the wind dies with a shrill scream
And no longer drives the snow across the darkening sky.
across the silent streets.
No longer makes the naked trees dance and sway
or the melancholy clouds shiver.
I am left to stare out the window in cold contemplation.
