I'm going to randomly start up this series of blogs just because I'm bored.

It's basically going to feature a different thing on the internet that you can use in every day situations that many people didn't know was there.

The first thing, then -

Link -
http://www.tineye.com/
(It also has plugins for Firefox and Chrome)

What does it do?
Tineye reverse searches an image. It will find more copies of the image or similar versions. You wouldn't believe how helpful this can be. You can either upload an image or use an url. With the plugin you can just right click on one.

Everyday usage -
  • Getting an image with a different resolution. Especially good for finding backgrounds!
  • Finding more information about an image that doesn't tell you anything from the link (especially good when dealing with images uploaded to image uploads sites that condense the url)
  • Digging up information about someone/something. You can find every place the image pops up.
  • Getting a version of an image without a watermark. Doesn't always work.

Example -
After googling "Claymore wallpaper" (used for this demonstration), I got this image as one of the results. -

http://media.animewallpapers.com/wallpapers/claymore/claymore_2_640.jpg?m=1306731584

That is FAR too small! If I wanted to use this as a wallpaper I wouldn't be able to!

Searching this in TinEye and setting it to Biggest Image first, I get this -

Far better! Much better for a wallpaper!

If I search this image on TinEye, I get 310 results.
