I managed to claw my way into a silver I series. I was feeling pretty good, I was on a 5-6 game win streak. Of course, the moment you get into the series, it seems like everything goes against you. People raging against each other the entire game, not concentrating, complaining about not getting ganks, etc. And without fail, every lane loses and before I know it, I have 57 LP, wasting a good 2 weeks of effort. I guess it's time to take a break again. This sucks.

Am I the only one who finds certain irony in this post :D
I also once dropped 1.5 divisions down due to bad luck with teams. Some are beyond redemption and carrying.
You'll find yourself steadily climbing if you consistently win lane yet only communicate the bare necessities regardless of whatever role you're in. I find that a lot of the gold and below folks actually have a pretty decent understanding of game sense but seriously lack control over playing the game emotionless.
