Introduction

Welcome to my first guide. I chose Garen as he is in fact, the best 3v3 solo laner out there. He's a really good farmer with Judgment and he is also a really great harasser. Activate Decisive Strike, right click on them, activate Judgment, then laugh as they die or go back to base. What I also love about Garen is that he is able to get out of any slow effects with his Judgment. Singed used Mega Adhesive? Use Judgment while you're in that pool and laugh at his pathetic skill. Since we are playing Garen DPS, you will be dealing so much damage, the opponent will not suspect it. I have carried myself in 2v3's with this guy. Do not underestimate him.

This is what really inspired me to become a Garen.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
+ Outstanding DPS when building crit
+ Can be somewhat tanky due to his passive/active from Courage and the health from Frozen Mallet
+ Difficult to catch up to, especially with Boots of Swiftness, Phantom Dancer, and Decisive Strike
+ Best of all, his abilities don't require mana

Cons:
- Some people think of you as a noob for going top as Garen
- You can't really aid your teammates except yourself, because of Courage
- The cooldowns are... lame

Runes

9x Greater Mark of Desolation
9x Greater Seal of Armor
9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
3x Greater Quintessence of Desolation

Why? You need the armor penetration so that you are a complete god early game. You can easily take down any of those tanks who decide to solo. Flat armor and magic resist are also really good early game because you get a slight advantage.

Masteries

I go 21/0/9
This is needed because you need the extra armor pen and damage. Not only that, but critical strike chance and critical strike damage will also synergize with Judgment, since it is based off criticals. Do not forget the reduced death time, movement speed, and longer buff duration. Those are really important.

Items with an explanation

Doran's Blade will give you that extra 100 health and 10 damage. This will help you early game A LOT.
Boots of Swiftness I go for these boots 100% of the time. Extra movement speed will help you get the most out of Decisive Strike and Judgment, so keep that in mind.
Zeal will give you crit chance and movement speed. You do not need a Phantom Dancer yet.
B. F. Sword Get the extra damage for both your Q and E. This builds into a Infinity Edge.
Phantom Dancer Just complete your Zeal. Phantom Dancer helps a lot. 30% crit chance is a must.
Phage You will need this so that your enemies will never escape you. This later builds into a Frozen Mallet.
Infinity Edge This has to be my favorite item. After this sick item, you are a god. 250% critical damage... geez.
Frozen Mallet More health for Garen! Every enemy kill is 80% guaranteed. I don't think anybody has escaped me once I got this item. You also have Exhaust!
Atma's Impaler This will increase your damage since you will have about 3k health. It goes with the Frozen Mallet.

Core Build

There are a lot of options for a sixth item.
Guardian Angel This has to be my top choice. You are free to do anything you want. Turret dive, etc.
Warmog's Armor Synergizes with Atma's Impaler. If you feel like you need more damage and tankiness, get this.
Thornmail Nothing to say here. You hate Tryndamere or Vayne? Get this.
Zeke's Harbinger Gives attack speed and life steal. Meh.
Banshee's Veil Helps block that one stun that bugs you.
Force of Nature More movement speed and magic resist. Good against a heavy AP team.
If you have anymore suggestions, list them.

Skill Sequence

Self-explanatory. Judgment and Demacian Justice are #1 priority. Decisive Strike should be maxed after Judgment and Courage is the last thing maxed. We only need one point in Courage early because of its passive and active. The passive somewhat helps against an AP heavy team and the active is just amazing.

Summoner Spells

These are my top 2 choices. Exhaust slows down the enemy and guarantees first blood, unless they have Flash. Flash is used for escapes or to catch up to them.

Other possibilities
Meh. You already have a lot of movement speed. ( Decisive Strike, etc.)
I'd only recommend this to people who have just played the game.
If you really like this, take it. Really good in 5v5's though.
If you REALLY hate stuns, take it.
You can easily secure kills with your slows and movement speed. Optional.
Nobody really uses this in 3v3. Just ask the tank to take it.

You shouldn't even touch these

Playing 3v3 (Twisted Treeline)

Immediately buy a Doran's Blade and run to bottom lane and camp in the bush. You better pray your teammates are quick with this also. Exhaust the first person that comes in the bush and immediately use Judgment and laugh as he takes so much damage in the first minute of the game. After the gank, tell your teammates you want top. They might dislike the idea, but ignore their opinion. Most of time, a squishy takes top. If so, you're in luck. Deny your opponent in lane by running up to them with Decisive Strike and then use Judgment. This is your harassment. Always do it when you're above 3/4 health. If you have Demacian Justice up, it's a guaranteed kill. Do not forget that harassing to much can lead the enemy team to ganking you. To prevent this, place a Sight Ward at red buff. Always always and always deny your opponent in lane. The only time you stop this is when you see bottom lane going through red buff to gank you. I usually get fed 10 minutes into the game, and so should you. If your opponent in lane is dead or recalling, you gank bottom lane immediately. It is recommended you have your teammates ward the very bottom brush. Also, do not forget about your passive, Perseverance. This helps you a lot in lane if it happens to be that your opponent and dishing out some damage to you. This makes you stay in lane for so long. Garen players also forget Courage. The active will help a lot when you towerdive, so if you get greedy, please use it. It's better to take less damage.

Warding Locations

Green: You NEED these wards. These are not an option.
Red: Optional. Just more map awareness.
Blue: Optional. Will help a lot early-mid game.

Using Demacian Justice

Only use your ultimate when you know it can kill them.

Never use this on a tank(unless it's the only one left).

You can usually kill them with your ultimate when they have about 1/4 health on their bar.

Please please please do not rush in with this move when they have full health. Demacian Justice is similar to a finishing move.

Garen vs. Champions

This section will be just for Garen's encounters. I am still updating this.
Please do not initiate if she has her stun up. It doesn't matter if you silence her, she will nuke you down afterwards. Stay back if she has Pyromania.
DAT RANGE! It's just a squishy target. Run in with Decisive Strike. She will use 90 Caliber Net as she will panic, but that's when you use Judgment.
The only problem with this guy is Valkyrie. Same as any other champ, silence him before he uses Valkyrie and wreck him.
Not a problem. He might get lucky because of Arcane Shift, but that's what Q is for.
I love him and hate him. His Fear and Bountiful Harvest ability is a PAIN. Just silence him and it's over.
Just another ranged carry. Be sure to use Courage immediately after he uses Quickdraw to take reduced damage from Buckshot.
Gets away easily with Shunpo. Rush her with Decisive Strike so she doesn't get away.
You have a silence and so does she. You have to silence her first. Just camp in the bush and scare her with Decisive Strike. Beware of her burst.
The only CC she has is Make it Rain. When she uses it, just use Judgment and wreck her.
This guy is annoying. Avoid going in the brushes due to Jack In The Box. When he uses Deceive, use Courage to take reduced damage from that high critical hit.
Shadow Dash is really annoying, huh? You have to silence him or else you will lose a kill. He would just go right through a wall. Same exact thing as Corki. You shouldn't really worry though as he does no damage whatsoever.

Summary

In conclusion, I'd like to state that Garen is just one of those rushing champs. His early lane is incredible and you should never really have troubles. I'll post scores here.
