Update Log:

8th of November 2017 - SEASON 8

# The runes will be updated in the next few days, once I tested everything. If you fell anything should be changed or updated please comment :)
Thank you for the support!

3rd of January 2017 - Patch 6.24

# I have updated everything to S7, including: runes, masteries, match ups and items. I will change the text in the upcoming days: change item text. I will also update the data in the text (such as spell damage if it changed or jungle stats). And finally, I will add a new chapter about jungle plants in the near future, once I entirely understand them to their maximum efficiency.

2nd of June 2016 - Patch 6.11

# The whole guide has been freshly update to the current patch (Path 6.11), from items, runes, masteries, skill order and I solved bugs with pictures as well.

I have erased the previous Update Log due to issue with dates and incomplete information, therefore we are starting a new Update Log starting from this patch (Patch 6.11).

Your Role As A Soldier ...

Your role as Amumu is relatively easy.
In early game you have to gank, while making sure you do not fall behind in leves. You have to be the dominant jungler as I would say, meaning you must gank more than the enemy jungler, make more successful ganks (kill, assist, burn flash, heal, ...), be a higher level than other jungler, and have more dragons than other jungler. This will make the neemy team tilt ("OMG our jungler is so bad compared to yours").
Mid game continue ganking, make sure not to be top when dragon spawns, makes sure your bot lane does not die when drake is up. You have to stay around bot when drake is up, the ideal thing would be to gank bot, kill both of them then with your bot get drake easy while mid pushes mid or helps you guys. Make sure you have smite up for when dragon spawn, might seem obvious but how many times did I see a jungler who just wasted smite on blue before drake, because then you have a risk of getting drake stolen if you dont have your smite up. Other thing, when your top is fed and pushed his tower (even got his tower) try and do herald when you see jungler is bot and their mid is not MIA.
Late game you role is to engage a good team fight mainly. Once you engaged you have two choices: focus their carries if you have enough DMG or peel for you carries if your TOP is not helping them or their support is not helping them. Most of the time you are a tank, meaning you are the front-line of the team, you are there to take DMG for your carries. In order to peel properly for them you need to tank skillshots that were fired at them (for example, if a Thresh sends his hook on your ADC you have to stand in his way and get hooked instead to save your ADC). The easiest way to peel is to be in-front of your carries all the time and stun Bruisers who try to kill or CC them. But the most important role for you is to engage Everything is explained more clearly BELOW

Your Items

Start:

You will first start with a Hunter's Talisman and 3 Health Potion like every jungle player, most of them at least and your trinket. The Hunter's Talisman will provide you with +50 bonus experience upon killing large monsters, +30 bonus experience on monster kill for each level higher the monster is than you, +150% mana regeneration in the jungle and a passive UNIQUE: Damaging a monster applies HEALTH DRAIN, which deals 25 magic damage over 5 seconds while restoring as much as health. And the Health Potion will restore 150 health over 15 seconds after have used it.

First Back:

For your first back you should back with the money to be able to buy Boots of Swiftness] and a [[Stalker's Blade. The Boots will be used later to upgrade them into Boots of Swiftness, Boots will also provide you with 25 additional movement speed. The Stalker's Blade will be upgraded into a Stalker's Blade - Runic Echoes, but for the moment it provides you with: Smite can be cast on enemy champions, dealing 28-164 true damage and stealing 20% of the target's movement speed for 2 seconds. And deals 45 magic damage on hit to monsters over 2 seconds and gain 10 health and 5 mana per second while in combat with monsters. Additionally, you gain 30 gold for every large monster kill.

Second Back:

You will finish your Stalker's Blade - Runic Echoes and you might have enough money to finish your Mobility Boots (I am always able to buy both at the same time). The Stalker's Blade - Runic Echoes will give you: +7% movement speed, +60 ability power and has a passive UNIQUE: Gains charges upon moving or casting. At 100 charges, the next instance of ability damage you deal will expend all charges to deal 60 (+ 10% AP) bonus magic damage to the first enemy hit and summon up to 3 lesser bolts that target nearby enemies, prioritizing enemies damaged by the ability and champions over minions. The Boots of Swiftness gives you +55 flat movement speed and has a passive UNIQUE: Reduces the effectiveness of slows by 25%.

End Build:

My usual end build consists of the Stalker's Blade - Runic Echoes, the Sunfire Aegis which gives you 50 Armor, 500 Health. UNIQUE Passive: Deals 26 - 43 (based on level) magic damage per second to nearby enemies. Deals 「 50% bonus 」 magic damage to minions and monsters (400 range). You will also have a Spirit Visage it will give you: 10 Cooldown Reduction, 500 Health, 55 Magic Resistance and +200% Base Health Regeneration. UNIQUE Passive: Increases effectiveness of all sources of healing by 25%, including health regeneration, life steal and spell vamp. You will also have the Frozen Heart which provides you with 90 Armor, 400 Mana, 20% Cooldown Reduction and has a unique aura which Reduces the attack speed of nearby enemies by 15% (700 range). You will also have the Dead Man's Plate which provides you with 50 Armor, 500 Health. UNIQUE Passive: Generates Momentum stacks while moving, up to 100, granting up to +60 bonus movement speed. Momentum slowly decays while slowed and decays rapidly while immobilized or pacified. Your last item will be the Elixir of Iron which give you 300 Health, +25% Tenacity (reduces the duration of all crowd control effects by 25%, except for Knockbacks, Knockups and Pulls), increased champion size, and Path of Iron (leaves a path behind that grants allied champions +15% movement speed).

Against hard carry AD:

When an AD champion is very fed on the other team I suggest you build a Thornmail or a Frozen Heart or a Randuin's Omen or a Guardian Angel. They will all provide you with a lot of armor. The Thornmail 100 armor, the Frozen Heart 90 armor, 20% cooldown reduction, and 400 mana. The Randuin's Omen with 60 armor and 500 health. The Guardian Angel with 60 armor and 45 magic resist and it will give you a second life once you die regaining a percentage of your health.

Against hard carry AP:

When an AP champion is very fed on the other team I suggest you build a Spirit Visage or a Abyssal Mask or a Banner of Command or a Banshee's Veil or a Guardian Angel. They will all provide you with a lot of magic resist. The Spirit Visage 20 cooldown reduction, 400 health, 20 health regeneration, and 55 magic resistance, the Abyssal Mask 70 ability power, 45 magic resistance, the Banner of Command 20 magic resist, 10 cooldown reduction, 200 health, 60 ability power, the Banshee's Veil 450 health, 55 magic resist, the Guardian Angel 50 armor and 45 magic resist and it will give you a second life once you die regaining a percentage of your health.

Jungling

Your first thing to do in a game is get to lvl 4 as fast as you can and go gangking and for this you need to jungle first. You will always begin at the blue side. Start with the Gromp.

(if you get invaded this will be explained in the next Chapter) once you took your Gromp and smited it go for your blue

Then do your wolves and smite them

Then skip the wraiths and go straight for your red, as they deal to much damage for not enough gold

Now that you have your two buffs you can gank or do golems

Then after your back maybe start we the wraiths that you still have to do

and by now you should be lvl 4. My second go to root is all the same apart that from the golem I go top or mid where I wait a bit next to the laner to get to lvl 4 with minions or by waiting in the ganking bush you will use to gank you should be able to get some XP from there and get lvl 4 as well. One you are lvl 4 gank then don't forget to ward dragon as soon as the enemy team is able to go for it and continue warding it (if the support do so it is even better). Give your second blue to your mid and get your red, don't forget to farm and to get some towers down if you can. Don't forget to go for the dragon and nashor when possible. I would not solo dragon if I were you (too risky). All these are the basic tips I can give you to jungle and farm at your best.

Yes throughout the game try and keep an eye on the nashor and the dragon, because it is your responsibility to make the calls to go and kill these and you responsibility to make sure the enemy does not do them.

Dragon, spawn time 2:30, re-spawn time 6:00.

Baron Nashor, spawn time 20:00, re-spawn time 7:00

Counter Jungle

The best way to have a good jungle is by banning the champions that could counter jungle you, kill you and steal your buffs before you get to them.

Here are the bans I would suggest, the champions that killed me a lot in my jungle and made my jungle very hard:
Picks & Bans
Your Team
You
J
Enemy Team

Shaco is very strong against you, his boxes Jack In The Box will make your jungle a nightmare. My best tip for you is just to ignore him, go check your red, if it is taken then go away and keep on jungling, if it is not taken then ward it and wait and see when it can be a good time to take it. The worst thing to do is to die. If you don't see him around then make sure to do your red in the bush next to it, do the same for blue if you prefer starting red (I don't advise you to start red, but it I advise you to start red if you have Shaco , Lee Sin or Shyvana against you who could run strait to your red after their blue (because some Lee Sin players (like me) prefer to start blue so that they can run straight to the enemy's red.)).

Just do the same against Lee Sin and Shyvana , beware these 3 champions are very fast and have a lot of mobility spells, like Lee Sin's Q Sonic Wave or Shyvana's W Burnout or Shaco's Q Deceive.

Ganking

Ganking is the easy part with Amumu, all you need to do is make your "Q". If you fail your Q your gank is most likely to turn bad or to fail. You need to know who you are going against, for me it is very easy to gank because I know each champions ability and I am sure that if you read this guide it is because you already know all the champions abilities. Once you made your Q you can ult (r) or just try to deal as much DMG as possible to help your team mate get the kill. A really important thing with Amumu i snot to take the kills, you can take some like when I soloed Caitlyn last game (that was amazing)(those kills are your to take). But don't get mad if your team KS, just answer them GJ and they will say thank you automatically (if they have been raised like you and I).

Team Fights

Amumu in team fight is like a monster, you come in people are scared. The best you can do to help your team out is by stunning their full team at the right time, sorry I can't explain this to you this has to be achieved by playing; playing; playing; ... Eventually you can assure to win every team fight and every game when you team up with a Oriana or Fiddlestick; Leona (all this will be explained in Chapter 5 (Team Comp)). If you manage the enemy team to focus you (which is very hard to do cause you are a tank and they are unlikely going to focus the tank, my best tip for you dough to make them focus you is by running in their full team low health normally it will always work because everyone wants kills!). For your ult, use it at the very beginning (keep in mind that your team should be backing you up with DMG when you engage) or keep it for the worst moment in the team fight (for your team to flee or to take the advantage). If you arrive late in a team fight try and do your best to place your ult on as much people as you can, your team only count on you for your ult and you tankiness so be there to do what you are best at. If a team fight go wrong (missed your ult (can happen) or just not enough DMG) just flee with your Q it is very important for you to Q to jungle creeps to flee as best as you can, what I personally do (when I fail my ult) I first A to a jungle creep then walk a bit and finally flash.

Here the Amumu is right in the middle of the other team and all his team is following him, this is an example of the perfect scenario.

Warding

Warding is probably the most important thing in League Of Legends.

This is where you and your team should sight ward.

~ Yellow: To protect your buffs
~ Blue: Good map warding, prevent ganks
~ Red: To guard Dragon and Baron
~ Orange: If you want to counter jungle

Champions Similar To Amumu

Here I am going to list you all the champions that I like and I feel similar to Amumu

He is very strong as a tank, has an escape tool ( Powerball). He is a very fun champion to play. You will have little number of deaths due to your tanky items and escape tool. I will make a build on Rammus as well to help you.

He is not a jungler but I feel he is very similar to Amumu and he is the only support I play. His Death Sentence is very similar to Amumu's Bandage Toss. Thresh is a tank as well and you will have more deaths than with Amumu and Rammus. But you will have fun saving others with your Dark Passage and making blind Death Sentence.

Wukong is very similar in many ways to Amumu, sometimes Wukong is even better than Amumu especially in Patch 4.16 (NOW). Wukong has many AOE spells like Amumu and he has this game changing ultimate like Amumu Cyclone. I recommend you trying out Wukong if you are like me a fans of Amumu, you can really pull of some great play with your Warrior Trickster then Nimbus Strike in the enemy team and Cyclone.

Amumu Summary

Amumu is a very fun champion to play, I hope you will have a lot of fun playing him. No worries you will get kills in team fights, I very rarely get negative scores playing Amumu. I like skill shots, so I really like Amumu's Bandage Toss as I like Thresh's Death Sentence. Amumu can change team fights with his Curse of the Sad Mummy, although your ganks are not very usefull if you don't have your Curse of the Sad Mummy you can still make a gank happen with your Bandage Toss. Overall he is a cute champion, and very fun to play with.

Hope you have a lot of fun playing him, and hope this guide helped you understand him in detail.

See you on the fields of justice Summoner.

If you have enjoyed plz like my build and +Rep me thx :)
