Automatic urls fail.
Oh, Mobafire makes text into links? I'm using a greasemonkey script for the same functionality globally, so I wouldn't notice.
So the reason embed without closing tags break is connected to the linkification?

People say to me that a person being a helicopter is Impossible and I’m ****ing ******ed but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a plastic surgeon install rotary blades, 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. That's what it would seem like, yes. Only for the automatic urls though. From what I've tested so far it seems that basically any opening tag (with or without a closing one, e.g. "[i]" right after the embed), breaks the what I called "swallowing", though I have obviously no idea what sorcery is going on.
Here's the report I sent: http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/forum/mobafire-support/embed-tags-need-a-closing-tag-quot-gui-quot-needs-to-close-the-embed-tag-28259
As you can see in the source code this doesn't happen because the text gets swallowed in the <object> or <embed>, it just doesn't show up at all. Though it is present in the "raw-bbcode" at the bottom of the message. So I find it likely that it's indeed specifically related to the automatic <a> feature in their parser.

Edit: Well, the embed tag randomly breaks **** (this has been a bug for over a year now, wtf Matt), so you'll have to make do with a link:
