What's the point of having Catalyst + Tear early on if it's going to take you forever to farm up to the Rabadon's you're rushing afterwards? I'd keep one or the other because you're losing a lot of damage between boots, Catalyst, and Tear of the Goddess.
That's why you get your mejai's right after the catalyst, so you can start stacking damage before you get Rabadon's. The reason why you don't go power items immideatly is because, even with no AP, Kass's spells deal a lot of damage and you will have no problem killing people. And you want to get Catalyst and Tear ASAP for their passives.
Altough I get what you say, this is how i play kassadin and I don't run Cleanse/QSS, you just gotta know when to get into battle and you wont have any problems being CCed
However, I have found many times playing kassadin that without cleanse or at least flash it is very hard to get away from the fray because of CC. You might have your trusty Ult but one snare stun or silence post banshee's (or even after) can end your squishy life.
