I've always played Ahri as an assassin over anything else and my favorite version of her was when she had the damage amp on Charm, so it'll be cool to see it back. Even if they choose to go with a version without the damage amp, she's trading movespeed for damage which I'll take any day.
I think she'll end up being over-tuned tbh, but I won't be complaining :^)
Also, looks like it's being delayed til 8.7 or later.
Did you really? Or are you just pretending you did to have an excuse to comment to farm raffle points?
First of all in the AS runes part, I suggest adding the extreme ease it becomes to last hit caster minions under the turret. If you're reacting fast enough or know how turret agro on minions works, you can get all caster minions with the increased AS.
Further, why make abyssal a core item? I know it's very useful and it's very nice on ahri, but I feel like zhonya's is in general a better item, it allows you to do more thing than abyssal allows. Further more, I feel like zhonya, rylai and abyssal aren't core, but all situational. They're all items I'd build purely depending on match-ups, but the other 3 (excluding boots) I always try to build.
Lastly, maybe add Randuin's Omen to situational? I find myself buying/swapping out zhonya's for it, but only really against certain champs and if they're fed. Mostly just champs that crit a lot (GP, Yasuo, Cait, Jhin). I find that the 600hp and extra 15 armor works more late game. Unless I'm playing super aggressive (try to initiate), zhonya's just feels so much less useful. Further the extra 10% damage reduction on cirts it's very nice, and you get a nice extra slow as bonus.
Anyway that's how I feel about things. I share your love for the champ. Have mained her since she released and loved her to bits ever since. Got about 700 ranked games over the seasons and a bunch more in other modes and still nice to be able to learn something (mainly some of the ult spots I didn't know).
He has an extended bit on the benefits of AS in the 'Tips' section.
The difference between Abyssal x Zhonyas and what makes it 'core' and ZH 'situational': Zhonyas is purely defensive, comparing the raw stats, AS gives 10 less AP, and the obvious AR x MR. The core differences lie in the abilities, Abyssal offers more damage (up to 25 flat pen), while Zhonyas only offers a 2.5s stasis, while useful, Ahri is generally safe if you position properly (basically only making it useful vs. things like Zed, Karthus, Vlad, i.e things mobility wont save you from) since it doesnt offer an offensive boost its the less attractive choice.
The reason Abyssal is considered by some to be more 'core' over Ludens: Abyssal is still a bit more 'situational,' but its the type of quoted situational that fits into almost any situation. The main appeals are the: 10 CDR (Allows you to cap earlier and 5% higher), and the 10-25 teamwide magic pen (and the 60 MR). Assuming youre against an AP mid, and most top/jgs + supps have some magic damage, the 60 MR is more effective than 10% MS in terms of utility / defense, and the teamwide 25 MPen is invaluable. i.e unless youre playing with/against an all AD team, Abyssal has great value (essentially its more situationally exclusive than inclusive). Another small thing is that the game is making a shift from solo stomper to dynamic QQ, and Ludens promotes single burst and a bit of split (MS and charge dmg), Abyssal benefits groups (AOE MPen).
The main reason RO isnt good on Ahri is that Ahri isnt a tank by design, her base damages are abysmal. Conversely, it offers 0 AP: Every single part of Ahris kit has an AP scaling (Passive, Q, W, E, R) so it is very very slot inefficient to get an item that doesnt give AP.
Just as important: Theres a ton of wasted gold in the item.
Cold Steel: You arent front line, you shouldnt be eating AAs.
Active: You have all the kiting tools you need, you shouldnt be in range to make use of it.
If a crit based champ is that fed: You are neither stacking HP nor AR, 10% crit reduction wont save you, double up on Zhonyas and Rylais, more utility and damage, kite it out.
Late game (5-6 items): HP and AR shouldnt feel good, as youve essentially spent 3000 gold on 0 stats. You are left with 5 AP scalings and an item slot yielding 0 AP, plus Ahri is an extremely safe and mobile backline mage with high range, in most cases (late game you focus on poke x siege) you shoudlnt be able to notice much difference between 0 bonus HP / AR and the bonus stats RO grants. You basically buy Zhonyas for the active, AP, and CDR, not the armor (its a nice addon early-mid game)
Hope this helps a little, as above im not ferret, just saw he hadnt commented and thought i could offer a little insight onto the issues~
