I hope you keep updating this guide because I quite like it! I will be using this often and since I didn't want to main top (I main jg) this is a very useful guide! Hope you do more guides in the future since I will try them out and give you more feedback. There are minor things to improve on but keep up the great work!!
Lee is definitely less of a threat than I initially thought. I would comment and say that rounding up a posse to go kill him at level two isn't always feasible, especially in solo queue, where teamwork is a bit harder, and early lane-time is valued. If you can round up friends, it DOES work very well. I think moral of the story is that if you can get ahead, you should stay ahead of Lee, in an aggressive way (invades, counter-jungling, etc). I'll have to look into more of the match-up. I'll likely add a bit into his description, and probably bump him down another threat level. Good feedback - thank you!
I intend to! I'm glad it's catching some steam, I'm not sure if more guides will come in the future, but I can at least keep this one dated. Thanks!
How often do you play Irelia? Assuming that Petesaparty is your IGN, it says you only have 2 Irelia games on na.op.gg.
Wouldn't maxing E second instead of Q make more sense? More autos while they're stunned, etc. Getting E level 2 seems better also. I don't imagine Q will be more useful level 2 than E.
Not sure if I agree with some of the matchups you have. I wouldn't think that Teemo jungle is a difficult matchup, wouldn't you be able to kill him very quickly once you stun him? If he leads with a blinding dart I'd assume that stunning him for part of the duration of his blind would hurt him a lot in his dueling potential against you.
Also Lee Sin. You say he's strong at all points of the game but he falls off extremely hard while Irelia outscales him by a long shot. Assuming he went damage, you'll be able to peel him off or kill him before he has time to get to your carries. If he went a tanky build, he won't be do much unless he gets a 3-5 man ultimate or somehow manages to get to your carry.
Dunno, that's all I can think of right now. I'm gonna try to grab Irelia in a game. Toodles~
I haven't had much experience on this account, but I've done some work on various other accounts to supplement it. That being said, I still don't have a ton of experience playing Irelia - this guide is meant to be more of a working guide, that I get to update and improve as I play more Irelia Jungle, and fine tune what needs tuning. Hopefully that figure should improve in the coming months.
That was my most recent thought - previously, I took Q second and maxed Q second because I personally had a hard time sticking to targets, and almost always cleared wolves/raptors/red and blue buff as my second level - I started Q to utilize the reset for killing the little monsters, thereby improving DPS and clear speed. Clear speed is one of Irelia's most significant weaknesses, so I tried to address that in leveling. However, my recent experience has been that maxing E second give better ganks, and provides better dueling, so I'm going to do a bit more play-testing, and potentially change the guide accordingly. Good catch!
As for Teemo and Lee Sin, my own experience with them has been in more of a jungle-invade / early-mid game setting. I absolutely agree about your evaluation of Teemo - the stun would certainly nerf some of his damage (and is another good point in favor of maxing E second, with the extended stun time).
As for Lee Sin, I simultaneously agree and disagree. Most Lee Sin players I've encountered build a balanced hybrid - Warrior, Black Cleaver, Dead Man's Plate as the base, with tank or damage coming through as needed. He generally has enough mobility to reach a carry, enough tank stats to survive whoever's around, and enough damage to squish the carry in question. However, your points about damage vs tank are completely valid, and worth me looking into. As for scaling, I wrote most match-ups as if the game would end around the 30 minute mark, right around what I consider to be the mid game. So, Irelia does out-scale him in the late game, but my experience is that Lee Sin is still a significant threat up to (and including) the mid game, which is what I based my description from.
Their match-ups in particular are from my own experience in jungling in general, extrapolated by what I know from Irelia. More practical experience will improve match-ups a bit.
If you think of anything else, let me know - again, this is a working guide, so expect it to change as time goes on. Thanks again!
