Personally, I think Ahri is a good Assassin to pick up if you are learning Assassin because she is a lot easier to play with compared to other assassins and her Ult makes for an excellent escape as well as an engage.
I feel more comfortable on a Mage because with Assassins you are required to land your combo perfectly but a mage like say Morgana can make an Assassin life hard with just a simple bind and usually when Assassin players struggle to land their combos they tend to lose focus and make more mistakes trying to land it which makes them easier targets for Ganks or 1v1 kills.

Atm id say she outta meta? (well at least down in sliver elo EUW) as iv not seen a ahri in ages, it be kinda nice to see a few more as its getting boring facing the same couple of champs over and over.

Ahri's ult and q make her a very mobile champion capable of roaming - and annoying to work with in lane! I'd like to see more mid laners with this kind of mobility instead of straight up assassins such as Zed in the future. Assassins in general deal too much damage if ahead and do too little if behind - something I really do hope the assassins rework fixes.
Assassins in general seem like they will always be good for Solo Q. They just generate Tilt so well.
