I've always played Ahri as an assassin over anything else and my favorite version of her was when she had the damage amp on Charm, so it'll be cool to see it back. Even if they choose to go with a version without the damage amp, she's trading movespeed for damage which I'll take any day.
I think she'll end up being over-tuned tbh, but I won't be complaining :^)
Also, looks like it's being delayed til 8.7 or later.
Did you really? Or are you just pretending you did to have an excuse to comment to farm raffle points?
I know this may sound ridiculous, but, what do you think about Ahri top? Sure obviously depends on the top laner and if it's a tanky one, it will be a really difficult match up (need more poke and prob a jung gank to actually get a kill). But still, what you think? :)

Neutrophil
Also once she gets 6, the opponent will generally not be able to kill her anymore since aside from a few champions (like riven for instance) top laners do not possess enough burst to kill her before she escapes during the laning phase, and even less can catch up to her, due to her entire kit being able to kite extremely well. (E into a dash on you, Q to run away while doing damage, R to re-position or run away, Manage those well and 95% of them will never catch up to you.)
So i'd say that if you are good at kiting, then top lane is an option. If not however, you better avoid it for now as her hit and run nature just gets.. AMPLIFIED LIKE CRAZY on the top lane (you can 100-0 this darius without him touching you. But if he does touch you, you are pretty screwed.)
And this leads to match ups. What you don't want are people who can out sustain you or people who can all in and one shot you, such as pantheon or riven. Now one thing to be noted is that top laners, if they are not damage dealer, will quickly become very tanky. That means an early void staff will most of the time be mandatory in order to have any form of pressure on the lane. If they focus on buying **** ton of health but no MR however, then you'll have to focus on things that give a hell lot of AP against them. Your worst enemy on the top lane becomes as such the spirit visage and the banshee veil, these item alone are the biggest drawback of ahri top, as it is just pure raw counter to burst magic damage. (health + MR + Spectre's cowl passive = cancer to you)
Finally Ahri can fit the top lane role in term of team fight as long as there is a tank in the team, as she can engage with her charm and be a constant threat to any squishy target. She'll be like a more single target heavy ryze/lissandra if you want. But be mindful that Ahri top isn't all that known and that many people will not see it as a good thing, so if you want to do that in ranked, be carefull about your own team mates, they might not like that at all...
As a last note i'd say to go watch good ol' Vertigal if you want to see some ahri top action, as a true one trick pony he basically play her top by the time he gets top lane. (hell dat boy probably even play her adc as well lol)
So yeah, hope that give some insight into that. I ain't Ferret, but 'ere you go.
I really appreaciate that response. Pretty complete and very clear. I already played Ahri top, but it was in a bronze acc, so I think that doesn't count since they pretty much lack the knowledge of pratically all champs. And yes, I've watched Vertigal as well, and i've also been thinking about Ahri bot lane (not as adc, but apc). Since everyone is about playing ziggs bot lane, why not Ahri, right? (ADC in 2017 LOL). And pretty thanks about those hard match ups. I honestly thought that Darius would be a hard pick against Ahri, but if he doesn't touch her, it might not be that hard.
Once again, thank you.
Best regards,
Neutrophil
As for ahri bot as an APC, the main focus of ziggs bot was about his pushing power, and how he can deal consistent damage with his Q and how he can blow up towers extremely fast. That unfortunately isn't Ahri's case, as you have early mana problems and do not take towers rapidly. I'd even say it's really bad due to support running most of the time exhaust, and ahri needing items to really being able to burst down a target 100 - 0.
Finally the main focus of an ADC is consistent DPS, making this role the damage dealer role of the team. Without an ADC your team late game damage and team fight damage falls off dramatically. Ziggs can deal DPS and got a good team fight due to his kit and R.
Ahri one shot someone and then have to wait, as she is an assassin/mage hybrid. As such, your late game team damage falls off by quite a lot unfortunately.
So yeah, ahri bot lane can be played for fun in normal if you want, but she clearly isn't made for this lane, even as an APC. (also the fact that you are among the squishiest champions in the game and vulnerable to CCs doesn't help at all in this lane, added to the fact that Auto attacks cannot be dodged, and many supports got point and click stuns/ CCs)
