mejais soul stealer i guess its bad idea unless you know you wont die because when you die u lose half the stack, you will have to be playing safely and care to not die what makes veigar cant engage a fight with his E he will be such a xuper to KS or end them.

What should I do if I am going against a melee champion?

Just make sure that you can effectively use your stun cage. If you can't do this, you are at the mercy of the melee champion.
