DD is probably better if you're building it that early. BT tends to be better in full-builds since the extra lifesteal gets applied to more damage.

I know Draven players (who typically got very early BTs) have been switching to DD after the buff so my guess is it's better early.

I don't really recommend playing Yi top unless you just don't have another option, but if you're going to build Yi top, DD is better early, BT is better late. :)

For master Yi, you'd actually rather get a blade of the ruined king early if you're aiming for a life steal item as the passive, AD, and attack speed synergies really well with his kit. If you had to choose bloodthirster or death's dance, i'd choose death's dance as it makes you a lot tankier, and harder to kill, as well as offers healing for alpha strike. Also, while the dot ticks, you can meditate which will overall make you survive for longer.

Bortk is actually the most gold efficient item you can buy first item, the passive alone makes it worth since double strike deals 50% AD, and is unaffected by on hits, the slow also grants him essentially a free kill every time it's up, and on top of that has the best build path for the champion. You'll always be able to buy a component most of the time regardless how much gold you have. The whole point of bortk is to snowball early which is Yi's weakest point. Late game the item actually gets stronger due to people have higher current % hp so your initial burst if you go crit will be higher, it also provides attack speed increasing dps.

Bloodthirster has high cost components, and once you complete it, you'll lack dps which Yi needs early. Same with Death's dance, thus bortk is better as a first item. You can sell it later on in the game when you have full build but, overall you're only losing around 30 damage per aa LATE GAME which is counteracted by the fact you get a slow active that deals damage + attack speed.
