Hi I am JinxIRLxD! I have over a million mastery points on Jinx. This guide is dedicated to her providing in depth nuance on her kit that I didnt see show cased anywhere else all together.
The All-Purpose Hypercarry
Jinx is the premier blind-pick hypercarry in League of Legends. While she is traditionally labeled a "weak early, strong late" champion, that label is only half true. Understanding the difference between her 2v2 laning and her early skirmishing is the first step to mastering her.

The All-Purpose Hypercarry
- Good Laner, Weak Skirmisher: Thanks to
Switcheroo! (Fishbones),
Jinx has the best Level 1 waveclear of any ADC and outranges almost the entire bot lane roster. She wins or goes even in most isolated 2v2 lanes through range and push priority. She is only "weak early" because she lacks sustained burst in 3v3 river skirmishes over Scuttle/Dragon and cannot snowball an early kill as effortlessly as
Draven or
Lucian—unless you itemize properly. - The Tank-Busting Myth: Tanks do not counter
Jinx—they simply force her out of her AoE Rocket comfort zone and into her risky 525-range Minigun form. While she won't out-damage dedicated anti-tank specialists like
Vayne or
Kog'Maw from safety, a stacked Minigun shreds frontliners harder than the vast majority of ADCs. - Underrated Self-Peel: For an immobile hypercarry,
Jinx has elite self-peel.
Flame Chompers! creates a 5-second terrain obstacle against divers, and
Zap! scales up to a massive slow on a short cooldown, allowing you to infinitely kite immobile bruisers like
Maokai or
Udyr unless they burn

THE "EGOCHECK JINX" BUILD (Signature 1v9 Setup)
Standard cookie-cutter ADC builds assume your teammates will peel for you and play proper front-to-back macro. In reality—especially when climbing through Low-to-Mid Elo—you have to 1v9 solo carry. I created the EGOCHECK JINX build specifically to give you lethal early-game burst, infinite scaling AD, 100% Crit, and drain-tank levels of lifesteal late game.

Why "EGOCHECK JINX" Works So Well
- Built for Low-Elo 1v9 Solo Carrying (Highest Possible DPS Ceiling):
In solo queue, games are fiesta bloodbaths with high kill counts. Rushing
Hubris first item lets you cash in on early bot lane kills and chaotic skirmishes. Every takedown stacks permanent bonus AD whenever your statue is active. When that massive raw AD from a stacked
Hubris gets multiplied by 100% Critical Strike Chance (
Yun Tal Wildarrows +
Runaan's Hurricane +
Lord Dominik's Regards +
Infinity Edge) and 110% AD AoE Rockets, no standard build in the game can match your raw DPS output.
- Early Lethality Matches Jinx's True Laning Trade Pattern:
People forget that
Jinx doesn't actually win early lane trades by standing still with Minigun—her bread-and-butter laning trade is short, high-range burst: Rocket Auto ➔ Zap! (W) ➔ Rocket Auto (plus
Super Mega Death Rocket! execute at Level 6). Because
Zap! has a massive 160% Bonus AD ratio and
Super Mega Death Rocket! has a 150% Bonus AD ratio, the early AD and Lethality from
Hubris turns your W-Auto poke and R snipes into literal nuclear bombs during laning phase.
- 30%+ Late-Game Lifesteal (The Drain-Tank Hypercarry):
By pairing Gluttonous Greaves (and
Legend: Bloodline) early with
Bloodthirster at full build, you reach 30%+ Lifesteal. Because your crits hit so impossibly hard from
Hubris +
Infinity Edge +
Lord Dominik's Regards, a single Minigun burst or primary Rocket crit heals you for hundreds of HP per auto. Instead of dying to thornmail chip damage or stray mage poke, you simply stand your ground and drain-tank straight through enemy damage in late-game teamfights.
- Smart Survivability & Heavy-Stacking Pivots:
Raw lifesteal lets you survive standard fights, but you can't heal if you get 100-to-0 one-shot while CC'd. Always read the enemy lobby composition:- Vs. 3–4 Heavy AD / Assassin Comps: Swap out your offensive boots for
Plated Steelcaps early, and replace
Bloodthirster in your final slot with
Guardian Angel so divers like
Zed,
Talon, or
Rengar can't reset off you. - Vs. 3–4 Heavy AP / Undodgeable CC Comps: Swap boots for
Mercury's Treads, and pivot your
Bloodthirster slot into
Mercurial Scimitar (buying an early
Quicksilver Sash against
Malzahar,
Leona, or
Mordekaiser) or
Maw of Malmortius (against heavy magic burst like
Syndra,
Evelynn, or
LeBlanc).
- Vs. 3–4 Heavy AD / Assassin Comps: Swap out your offensive boots for
Runes & Item Synergy Breakdown
The Runaan's Hurricane Math
Why Runaan's Hurricane is Non-Negotiable:
Runaan's Hurricane bolts scale with your bonus Rocket range and trigger secondary Rocket explosions on impact. If 2 enemies stand next to each other, both take your main rocket + the overlapping bolt splash = 155% AD per shot (out-DPSing Minigun on a single target!). If 3 enemies clump together, the center target takes 210% AD per basic attack. With
Hubris bonus AD active, two rockets will wipe an entire clumped backline.

Laning Phase: Level 1 to Level 6
Pre-Minion Covering & Why You Should Never Leash
Level 1: The Minion-Splash Poke Trick
At Level 1, Fishbones only gives you 600–605 range, making direct auto-trades risky against 550-range ADCs.
How to Trade with Zero Retaliation: Watch when the enemy ADC steps forward next to their own dying minions to last-hit or trade. Instead of clicking the enemy champion, fire a Rocket at the minion standing next to them.
1. They take the full 110% AD splash damage.
2. Because you targeted a minion, you draw zero minion aggro.
3. Your effective splash hit reaches ~100 units further than your actual auto-attack tether range!
Level 2 & The Level 3 "2-Point Q" Mana Tech
Level 6: The Fog-of-War Tower Harass Ult
Especially when building EGOCHECK JINX with early Lethality/AD components for
Hubris, don't save
Super Mega Death Rocket! exclusively for 50 HP cross-map snipes. Whenever the enemy bot lane is at 50%–70% HP:
Hubris stacks.
Pre-Minion Covering & Why You Should Never Leash
- Red Side Cover: Stand at the back edge of the bot-side jungle entrance brush. Do not drop a ward unless you actively see invaders walking in; simply walk away and ward behind you as you retreat if they show.
- Blue Side "Fog Pocket" Cover: Never sit inside the blue-side jungle entrance brush—enemies can hug the wall and surprise you inside the bush, forcing your
Flash. Instead, stand in the river/entrance gap just outside vision range of the brush. The moment an invader steps out of the brush, you spot them from outside
Blitzcrank
Flash-
Rocket Grab range without wasting your trinket ward. - Do Not Leash: Modern junglers clear healthier and faster than ever. Leashing gives away your jungler's starting camp and surrenders
Jinx's single greatest Level 1 asset: guaranteed wave push priority. - Entering Lane: Walk directly parallel to your arriving minion wave—never in front of it or behind it. The minions act as a meatshield against Level 1 brush skillshots. If you have a dominant Level 1 support (
Braum,
Nautilus,
Karma), walk in behind them to clear the lane brushes first.
Level 1: The Minion-Splash Poke Trick
At Level 1, Fishbones only gives you 600–605 range, making direct auto-trades risky against 550-range ADCs.

Level 2 & The Level 3 "2-Point Q" Mana Tech
- Level 2 Skill Choice: Level
Zap! (W) in 85% of games to unlock your Rocket Auto ➔ W ➔ Rocket Auto trade combo. Only level
Flame Chompers! (E) at Level 2 if you beat the enemy to Level 2 alongside a hard-engage support (
Nautilus,
Blitzcrank,
Leona) to chain-root their hook for a guaranteed kill. - The Level 3 Mana Check (Crucial!): Check your mana bar when you hit Level 3.
- Above 50% Mana: Put your point into
Flame Chompers! (E) so you have your full kit. - Below 50% Mana: Put a 2nd point into
Switcheroo! (Q) instead of unlocking E! Unlocking E when low on mana adds a massive mana cost you can't afford to cast anyway. Rank 2 Q costs zero extra mana, increases Rocket range by another 25–30 units, and nearly doubles your Minigun attack speed per stack.
- Above 50% Mana: Put your point into
Level 6: The Fog-of-War Tower Harass Ult
Especially when building EGOCHECK JINX with early Lethality/AD components for
- Hard-shove and crash your minion wave into their turret.
- Immediately walk backward out of enemy minion/turret vision.
- As the enemy ADC stops moving to last-hit under tower, fire
Super Mega Death Rocket! from fog of war.

Complete ADC Matchup Cheat-Sheet
Draven (Skill / Scaling Favored): At Level 1, you only outrange him by 55 units—if you trade 1-for-1, his
Spinning Axe destroys you, and at Level 2 his
Blood Rush negates your range. Play conservatively Levels 1–3, punish only when he walks to catch axes, and wait for Q Ranks 3–4 (Levels 5–7). Once you have high Rocket range +
Zap! slow, you can land 3 autos for every 1 he attempts.
Kai'Sa /
Samira /
Nilah /
Vayne (Easy / Jinx Favored): You have an 80+ range advantage at Level 1. Bully them off every minion from Wave 1 with Rockets. They cannot touch you unless their support lands hard engage. Against
Kai'Sa, stand near minions to dilute
Icathian Rain.
Ezreal /
Ziggs /
Seraphine (Hard / Poke Counters): Their spells outrange your Rockets. Stand behind minions vs
Ezreal
Mystic Shot and stay away from minions vs
Ziggs. Do not try to slow-push (they farm safely from afar); fast-push and crash waves to force them to spend mana on CS instead of your HP bar.
Caitlyn (Hard Early): Outranges your early rockets. Let
Piltover Peacemaker pass through minions first to reduce its damage, watch for brush
Yordle Snap Trap setups, and use your
Hubris +
Zap! poke to chunk her back once you hit Level 5+.
Miss Fortune (Medium-Hard): Never stand directly behind low-HP minions (
Double Up crits) and avoid fighting in tight jungle corridors where
Bullet Time wipes you without
Flash.
Tristana /
Twitch (Hard All-In): Both ignore your Rocket range advantage—
Tristana via
Rocket Jump and
Twitch via
Ambush. Respect stealth timings when your support roams and hold
Flame Chompers! strictly to place under yourself when they jump in.
Kog'Maw (Skill / Micro-Spacing): He out-DPSes you in a stationary 1v1, so never stand still and trade. However, Rank 5 Rockets (700 range) outrange
Bio-Arcane Barrage (685 range) by 15 units. Weave in and out at max tether range when his W is down.
Ashe /
Varus /
Jhin (Utility Lanes): Consider
Cleanse against
Enchanted Crystal Arrow or
Chain of Corruption. Trade aggressively into
Jhin while he reloads his 4th shot.
Aphelios /
Sivir /
Zeri /
Lucian (Standard Lanes): Respect
Aphelios Sniper/Flamethrower combos; bait
Sivir's
Spell Shield before casting W; stand inside minions against
Zeri when her
Spark Surge is down; avoid
Lucian Level 2–3 dashes and outscale at 2–3 items.
Wave Management & Mid-Late Game Macro
Wave Control Rules
Mid-Game Self-Funneling (How to Hit 9–10 CS/Min)
Once you complete
Runaan's Hurricane,
Jinx clears waves and camps faster than almost any champion in the game. Your goal is to vacuum every drop of gold on the map so you hit your 5-to-6 item EGOCHECK powerspike minutes ahead of the lobby:
The 4v5 Side-Lane Split Rule
If you are catching a side wave and your team gets caught in a 4v5 fight across the map (or in deep river where enemies sit between you and your team): DO NOT abandon the wave to walk over late.
Keep pushing!
Jinx melts turrets in seconds with Minigun. Taking a Tier 2 side turret grants 700 local gold plus deep map control. Rotating late sacrifices guaranteed gold for a fight that is already over before you arrive. Once Baron spawns (25:00+), shift your priority to staying grouped with your team full-time.
Wave Control Rules
- Slow Pushing (The 4-Caster Rule): Kill enemy caster minions while leaving tanky melee minions alive (having 4+ extra casters guarantees a slow push from any point in lane). Use this against low-waveclear lanes to stack a massive wave for a 3-man jungle dive, free recall, or turret plate siege.
- Fast Pushing & Cannon Waves: Starting Wave 4, Cannon minions spawn more frequently. Always fast-crash Cannon waves immediately—Cannons take 50% reduced damage from turrets, meaning enemy minions kill your Cannon much faster than the enemy turret does.
- Freezing: Hold 3–4 enemy caster minions alive just outside your tower range when you are behind, when your
Flash is down, or when your Support roams to Void Grubs/Mid.
Mid-Game Self-Funneling (How to Hit 9–10 CS/Min)
Once you complete
- Between-Wave Camp Vacuuming: Push out the mid wave first. If no fight is happening, immediately rotate to take Raptors, Wolves, or Scuttle Crab before the next mid wave arrives.
- Jungle Etiquette vs. Greed: Don't steal a camp your jungler is actively hitting or pathing directly toward. However, if all 3 lanes are pushed out, no objective is up, and your jungler is on the opposite side of the map, take the entire Blue Buff quadrant (Wolves + Blue + Gromp takes 20 seconds for +12 CS). Maximizing team-wide gold on a 1v9 hypercarry wins games.
- The "Stubborn Mid Laner" Protocol: Ideally, you hold mid lane and your mid laner side-lanes. In low-to-mid Elo, mid laners often refuse to leave mid. Never split mid farm 5 CS/min each. Instead: rotate to a side lane, two-shot the wave with Runaan's rockets, immediately walk back to Mid to hover for fights and take mid CS, then bounce back to the side lane when the wave returns. (Only yield mid CS intentionally if your mid laner is massively fed and 1v9 carrying while you are behind).
The 4v5 Side-Lane Split Rule
If you are catching a side wave and your team gets caught in a 4v5 fight across the map (or in deep river where enemies sit between you and your team): DO NOT abandon the wave to walk over late.
Keep pushing!
Teamfighting & Target Selection
- Threat-Range Mapping: Before a fight starts, identify every enemy ability that can kill you. Against
Gragas E,
Nunu & Willump E/R, or
Jax Q+E, Minigun (525 range) puts you inside their initiation zone—stay strictly in Rockets (700 range). Against long-range assassins like
Zed (W+R), stay completely out of vision until he uses R on someone else. Staying alive dealing 0 damage for 8 seconds is infinitely better than dying to land 2 autos. - Movement Speed Differential: Spacing relies on Attack Speed (shorter self-root during auto animations) + Move Speed differential (your
Get Excited! MS vs. the enemy slowed by
Zap!). Use this differential to tether in and out of enemy attack ranges without getting hit back. - When to Break the "Front-to-Back" Rule: Normally, you hit the closest frontline target so you don't walk into danger. Break this rule the moment the enemy frontline burns their sole threat cooldown (e.g.,
Rammus wastes
Frenzying Taunt on your support). Immediately ignore the harmless tank, walk past them, and blow up the overextended enemy backline with Rockets. - The "Getting Caught" Protocol: If you get flanked (e.g.,
Lee Sin kick) and death is 100% unavoidable, don't die running away doing nothing. Immediately swap to Minigun and dump maximum damage into the squishiest high-priority target in reach—with 30%+ Lifesteal and
Hubris AD, you can often drain-tank and kill your diver before dropping, or chunk them low enough for your team to clean up and trigger your
Get Excited! reset.
