With the recent nerf to stopwatch is it better to get the free boots instead?

Indeed, Stopwatch is no longer valuable. Only use for it was Zhonyas for the Ult-Zhonyas trick but now that's gone. Do take boots or elaborate on something else you might like/want to try out.

Cassiopeia I HATE HER SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. There's litteraly 0 chance you get to 1v1 her early. You need to buy items and then play it extremely smart. However, if you can avoid fighting her then DO NOT FIGHT. All it takes is for her to land her ult in your face and you're instantly dead. Likely even flash won't save you. If she missed her Q in the early levels then it's safe to poke her a bit. Try roam as much as you can after wave clearing mid. There's nothing for you to do in this lane. Overall, this lane is survival. No matter WHAt happens just don't die. It's okay to lose some creeps, don't panic. It's okay to be left 20-30 cs behind but what's important is she doesn't get big. Buy a lot of pots if you need just so you can stay in lane longer. Cassio can snowball so hard that you'll get reported x9, which means EVEN by Cassio herself. She'll be so disgusted by how hard she carried she might even go to church in order to keep her sanity safe before she attempts to conquer the world.

Hey, pretty nice guide, I've tried it numerous times in the past and it never let me down.

Seeing how you updated the runes for pre-season though, I hope you can find time to update the rest of the guide as well, since it was a really good guide to begin with. Some tweaks here and there would make it ideal again.

Well, I wanted to update the guide but they announced yet one again rework coming up for Ryze... ********, I'll just wait then xD.

Yup, they want to rework him yet again. But it seems like it's going to take a long time. According to Riot, Swain, Irelia and Aatrox are the champions they'll be updating first within 2018, so that means a Ryze update might take a full year from now, or maybe more.

But Ryze aside, there are some more "general" parts in the guide that aren't exactly related to Ryze (for example, the Dragon section) which could also be updated. Keep up the good work!

am... where is zhonya???

Hey, so I played Ryze with your guide and pretty much I only have 0 to 1 death so far but I only keep getting assists and my kills are on a range of 0-5 only. What will I do to get more kills?

Ryze has stoped for some reason being the "guy" that gets kills. I don't understand either but I guess it's because he's a sustained damage dealer at such a bad sustain frequency that doesnt let him get the kills often. It's as simple as being unlucky I guess? Who knonws :P

Per Author on Jan 2 2017 this guide is no longer being updated. His passive and ulti are badly out of date as of latest changes so I have had to look at other guides. I'm totally new to LOL(coming from 5 years of DOTA)but I disagree with the authors statement on that date that Ryze is not fun or no longer fun to play. His combos are pretty sick and I'm really getting the hang of them. When you can blast an entire wave of minions in one shot, debuff the summoner behind and start to chase in less than 2 secs, that's pretty sick!

As an extremely high rank player focusing on ranked alone, my crisicisms are of that intuition. I've played all the mobas out there and there was always a difference between enjoying the game and playing who you like compared to playing to win and abusing what's given to you at the fullest. Ryze has some very fun elements going around his E and interesting combos evolved around his kit. His playstyle right now is unique and build path also at that.

However, as a guide creator, i'm obliged to give an ultimate opinion on Ryze as a champion in general. I only mention that he's not viable in ranked as you'll lose far more than you'll win no matter what your rank is. Right 'NOW' there are champions that do litteraly twice as much while requiring half as much effort. It's simple maths to realise it's not worth the pain your giving IF your ittention is winning alone. 70% of the people who contact me are ranked players. All of them have the same complaint of how weak Ryze currently is and how un-fitting his ultimate is to his kit. Riot also announced 1 week ago in a forum that there are big changes coming Ryze's way (especially his ultimate). Thank god Riot realised what they made was a mess and now they'll try to fix it. All and all I do enjoy playing Ryze and how he farms and everything but I dont enjoy losing after getting 5-0 in lane just because of weak Ryze is and unable to carry.

Thus, I conclude into the guide being not updated in some chapters. I have absolutely 0 time due to attending my army duties as a citizen and also waiting for the changes on Ryze.

hi can you explain to me how flux spreads? cause in first few levels it is just stupid weak. i was against an azir today he kept sticking it to me so i played it safe and he took over the game cuase i couldnt clear minions with broken flux.

Excelente guia, vou arranjar um tempo para poder testar o Ryze junto com seu guia. Sempre gostei do Ryze mas nunca achei que tinha mecânica para encarar ele, dessa vez vou fazer de tudo para ficar bom com o campeão, gosto de desafios e ficar com com o Ryze vai ser um grande desafio para mim. Agradeço se puder responder as minhas duvidas pois assim que eu começar a treinar com ele vou encher o comentário de perguntas, achei que seu guia foi o melhor e o mais bem feito até agora pois explica bastante coisa.
1- Você recomenda o Ryze para ser jogado atualmente?

idk if this is normal amongst ryze players but did you know your ult works while youre in stasis from zonyhas? you have to use ur ult and then zonyhas first tho, which is pretty handy if the enemy team has cc and are chasing you. I'm learning ryze atm, just thought id let it out there in the community

hey, great guide but I'm kinda confused regarding his passive, you claim it stacks but in the passive desc its written that it increases AP every 100 mana? please help

It's his old pre-rework passive. This guides outdated so I wouldn't rely on it too much atm.

Sorry guys and indeed, it does need to get re-updated. However... there are some issues for the time being. Lemme elaborate.

1: I mention in the "IMPORTANT NOTES" (in the Introduction) that I'll wait for 3 patches after the rework before I fully update the guide. Reason being, many changes are due to come and they'll make such a huge impact that I'd have to rework the guide multiple times. This leads us to #2.
2: Well...there haven't been any changes since the rework. To be precise, it's patch 6.16 and there hasn't been litteraly a SINGLE change. It's not because Ryze is balanced. It's not because he's in a good state either. Why? Because Riot's balance team is completely lost from what they've done and wait for a miracle/korean build to pop up. They wanted to make Ryze an easier champion for low elo but the oposite happened. How hard is he now? Well, he just became a Master+ exclusive champion. In a way, harder than Vayne and that for various reasons. There was a 32% win rate in Bronze and 68% in Challenger. What is happening now? God knows. Even pros suck at him atm. And the thing is they won't admit this ultimate is a HUGE failure in every way imaginable so they're stuck in fear of being "those guys that failed the rework a 3rd time". Pretty depressing and humiliating title. Thus they hide.
3: They screwed big time. Half my fans quit Ryze because of the drastic change in his playstyle. Only thing left is the combo oriented playstyle but everything else is gone. He's not who he was and now counts as a whole new champ. Riot messed up, yet again...

So, with that said. Will I play Ryze again? Will I rework the guide? Yes, I will.
I'll forever stay a Ryze main even though my main role is Fill. I'll wait for all the PBE patch notes for the next patch to come. Once they do, i'll start playing a lot of Ryze and rework the guide. Even though, to be honest, his build/runes/masteries are a lot more akward than they ever where. I'm kinda lost guys so I'll have to put a huge amount of time to make research on this bad boy.
