That used to be pretty fun :D
Yeah I mean if they're already on top of your booty then you might wanna have barrier, whatever works best for you <3
I just play as Jerry (the mouse from Tom and Jerry) and always roll with exhaust and flash. I make sure they never get on my booty. It's really a cat and mouse game. Kinda like being an assassin, but instead of finding opportunities/moments to execute your enemies you dip in and out of situations to help your teammates with phat heals, silences and damage reductions.
I always say, whatever works best for you, roll with that. Forcing someone to play a certain playstyle doesn't work in their favour. It's just what I found myself working the best for me.
Have fun :D
How was Mordekaiser's room like, was it messy? Filled with metal band posters and electric guitars? Jokes aside XD Good job on escaping the Death Realm! He should've just went with Morellonomicon.. or Thornmail if your team was heavy on physical dmg.
All you gotta know is that the GW items apply 40% healing reduction. Both Chemtech Putrifier and Morellonomicon applies GW by dealing magic to the enemy champions, whilst Thornmail applies GW when champions auto attack the player with Thornmail.
All three of them can also increase the effect to 60%. For Chemtech Putrifier it's healing or shielding allies. For Morellonomicon they gotta be under 50% of their max hp. For Thornmail your enemies got to be immobilized.
There's not much you can do against anti-heal, it's a counter build item. Things you can do however is dodging abilities so that GW doesn't apply on you. That way atleast you still get full benefit out of the heals from landing Q's and using your R.
EDIT: As of patch 11.18 when using R, Grievous Wounds gets removed from all targets before applying the ultimate heal.
Hope that helps!
It'd be a blast hanging out with you <3
If anyone else reads this feel free to join aswell, everyone's more than welcome :D
Soraka is not a healer anymore; she is something else. Apparently I have to play for 15 minutes as damage dealer and for the next 15 minutes I have to play as healer, that is if I want to win ofc... So essentially I have to play two different games. I don't like it because it adds unnecessary strain on my brain, but it adds no enjoyment. Soraka stopped being an effective healer a while ago, and now riot only finished what they started. I can't trade effectively because most other champions have way more damage and crowd control. Whenever I attempt to trade, I either loose more than the enemy team, or just die instantly. Every hit I take brings me closer do death, and every blow ADC player takes, brings me closer to death as well because I have to heal them but I can't regenerate any health anymore)))))
At this point Sona is a better healer because it can heal both itself and the partner, so if players take damage, it can heal like forever. Sona runs out of mana faster than Soraka, but guess what, if u run out of mana, you can still survive, because you probably spent mana on healing, and u have health points, so you can wait until mana regenerates, and then u can do more healing. In contrast, Soraka can't survive if u have mana but no health points left. You can build a ton of mana regen for Sona quickly, but you can't build solid health regen for soraka because it adds % of a very small value.
Right now in s8 I have 49% win rate with Soraka and 55% win rate with Sona even though I have COUNTLESSLY more games played as Soraka (703 and 37 in S7).
I feel that right now Soraka is good at neither healing nor trading. In early game, that is. In late game, Soraka is probably as good as ever, but there is no advantage in it because most games I loose are lost within 10 minutes, so if I have weak early game, there is no point in considering late game.
Personally I like it when there are new big changes made to the game, it keeps the game fresh. This is how I've been playing Soraka ever since her W passive was moved to her Q, maxing Q makes her focused on poking early on in the game, while your W scales into mid game.
Most of the healer/shielder supports have both tasks to heal/shield and damage/poke. Some champion kits are focused more on the poking whilst others are more focused on the defensive healing/shielding. However to unlock a supports true potential you'll always have to be doing both tasks.
So the way you should strive to play Soraka (and other squishy supports) is that you want to avoid all damage, aswell as basic attacks, skill shots and crowd control, at all times during the whole game. You're way better off having your allies/adc tank the damage because of how squishy healing/shielding supports are.
If your adc is face tanking all the damage and not bothering to dodge, you should not heal them right away. This will make your low health adc play safer and your enemies play more aggro, therefore landing your Q's will be easier. Once you hit your Q at full health you heal your low health adc. During that period your adc will hopefully realize that you can't pump out heals unlimited because you force him to play safer for a period of time.
The same can be said when someone has no mana. I see what you're saying though, dying is more risky when at low health, and this is why Q max is favored, it's health regen is stronger, but you will have to land your Q for it. It sounds simple but champions like Nami and Sona just have to point and click or be in range once they have enough mana to heal again, but for Soraka you actually have to land your Q skill shot to achieve the same goal. This is the exact reason why landing your Q's as Soraka is a very important factor.
As far as health regen you can also choose to swap Athene's for Mikael's for more hp sustain, but again your Q is the more important factor.
Getting through the early game as a squishy support is really the main focus, once you're in mid game you really start to shine. You don't necessarily need to go super hard early game, as long as you go even it should be fine, even if your adc is slighty out pushed it's okay, you can usually help them clear the wave with your Q on the mage creeps so your tower doesn't take too much damage.
Hope you can take those tips home and take them to your advantage :3
I agree that Soraka is a pretty squishy support and unlike some supports doesn't have real hard cc. Alot of support players disrespect the potential hard engages, die too many times and don't have a fun time. Having enemies burn multiple flashes for your flash however is a great way to set the enemy team behind and let them know you know how squishy you are and are respecting those dangerous all-ins.
I also agree that Bramble Vest counters some of the healing potential, but do keep in mind that every pro has a con, the con for Thornmail (Bramble Vest it's upgrade) being heavy Armor focused item, which can be countered by Last Whisper (and it's upgrades).
That's one way to put it XD However big changes like runes is trial and error for Riot too. Even when changes hit the PBE client they still need more data to be collected on the live client to analyze the numbers more properly. After they get a general idea they have the option to choose in what direction to push the meta, what minor buffs/nerfs are being made. Obviously alot of champions, like Kha'Zix, are busted right now due to some runes being overpowered, having a Kha'Zix appear right on top of you isn't quite pleasant, but for now you should be aware of it being possible at any time when playing against him as of now.
I completely agree on this, you can't really pick Aery in combination with Revitalize and Cosmic Insight which is FeelsBadMan I still haven't got my new desktop because Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in my country were pretty rubbish to say the least. Couldn't do proper testing yet, but depending on upcoming buffs/nerfs on runes it may be a complete different outcome again.
Cya around!
