Best Kog AP guide btw <3
dark seal gives more mana, almost same ap, more heal from corruption, and you can totally snowball. Dorans ring just gives you 60 hp + 15 ap, (the mana passive is unique), so dark seal give more sustain, more snowball potencial and a litlle less AP(7 vs 15 AP).
And this is what lol wiki says:
If you use your three Health Potion item potions, you're getting 112.5 health from this item's passive effect. This is 52.5 health more than Doran's Ring item Doran's Ring and increases its value to Gold 766.25, making it 218.93% gold efficient.
If using a Refillable Potion item Refillable Potion instead, it provides 62.5 health, making the item worth 586.25 - a gold efficiency of 167.5% - increasing by Gold 228.75 with each back.
As you can see, this is a lot more efficient then double doran's ring.
I tried multiple choices including electro in the past and no - it's totally not worth it. And when I am looking into your build and knowing how the champion works, I don't see it being better than current build. In plat elo you might've found success with it, but fact is that with this build I am cappable of stomping plat games. But obviously if the build fits you, it's all fine and keep it up!
First of all i really like ur guide, its very well written and easy to understand so thanks for your effort.
I also really like the mpen rush, it makes you feel strong even though u rush tear. i skipped darkseal though in a couple of games and skipped defenses if i was really ahead and felt like i didnt need it.
For the following items i tried some variations from your build. in one game i was vs 2 bruisers (trundle/jax) and rushed rylais before finishing liandrys and archangels, it made kiting them around very easy and the extra health helped alot when i was getting dove.
Last game i tried ur build up until the 5th item and i found it really annoying not having any cdr at all, especially because i wasnt able to kill the equally fed adc with 2 lifesteal items in one rotation. So i finished with nashors and swapped out rabadons for rylais.
I feel rabadons isnt an ideal item for ap kog, especially because his ap ratios arent that good. i feel having the ability to spam your abilities and rylais utility and defense is way more worth. I might consider building morellos instead of nashors, i didnt feel like i was using the autos too much except for sieging. Morellos on the other hand would synergise well with the shield on archangels and kogs ult, preventing the enemy from healing too much after u got them below 40.
I also dont consider zhonyas a good option on kog since i feel even though he has some burst hes not a good in all ins, cause of his lack of escapes. Mobile assassins can use zhonyas very well: go in do a rotation zhonya and go back out or do another rotation. With kog you're most probably dead after zhonya if your team hasnt won the teamfight by then. the only situation it could be good in is to dodge some fatal long range ability, but you already have archangels for that. Therefore i feel stacking health and archangel shield should be enough for protecting you against burst and still being able to dish out damage in the meantime.
Zhonyas could be an option though on burst kog with electrocute / lich, havent tried that yet though.
Would be really happy to hear your thoughts on my thoughtprocess. Anyway great work your guide helped me alot to get into ap kog :)
Note: vs lethality abusers i still rushed seekers for the early armor, kept it as is in the inventory until lategame though
At first - what I wrote here is my experience, while playing AP Kogmaw. I have built it around my playstyle that I am using and that I got used to. It might not be good for you because you are simply used to something else, but I feel like if you get used to it and you start playing differently around it, it's simply way better.
You are right, that AP kogmaw doesn't really have too great AP ratios, but if you build up lich bane, you have more than sufficient AP ratios to feed your abilities with rabadon's scalings. About not having CDR - yeah I can definitelly feel your pain, and you are right, that outtrading ADC face to face is pain, if you miss your combo, but from my experience, CDR won't really save you in most cases, because you won't have time to use your abilities twice, if it gets on your face.
In terms of Zhonya - it's simply because champions like Zed, Talon etc. are simply going in, while dealing lethal damage in fraction of second. For that reason you might want to use Zhonya, to protect yourself. Because then if you have team, that can back you up, they can't stay next to you long enough to finnish what they started. You will simply become too annoying to deal with, because they will use everything to take you down, yet it won't be enough. Obviously there are cases where it won't save you or where your team lets you down, but thats the game. Generally though in lategame, it's good against certain assasins to have Zhonya, if you don't want to die in matter of second while letting your opponent escape.
About morello - I generally don't like that item too much, even though it provides healing reduction. When you require healing reduction, there should always be executioners calling on the field, that should be able to do the job, because you shouldn't rely just on morello anyways.
I don't know if I have missed something, but if so, feel free to ask me around for additional questions please. I was kinda writing this message in a hurry, so I am not sure, if I didn't forget something.
Anyway thanks for the insights u got my +1!
Keep up the great work!
