Im hoping i can pick your brain on something. My name's Reason, im fairly new to league (only been playing since the Akali rework). I've been picking up lissandra, and while i KNOW that Protobelt or luden's are what 99% of people recommend going first on her, i have been struggling so much with that myself.

However, whenever i've done a first item Rod of Ages, i've found my game tends to improve dramatically. i go from negative stats and an overall terrible game to either breaking even or ahead, and very rarely if ever am the biggest issue on my team anymore. it's just an item that make's sense to me, it makes it a lot easier for me to see and understand when im getting more powerful.

what im wondering, really, is this: i know rushing Rod means no early CDR, and a 10 minute delay in the item's full power. other then those two reasons, is there anything else wrong with doing it? i've been flamed a few times by people telling me im an idiot for it, and i wanna know if there's any downsides or drawbacks i havent already thought of.
