That's often a big problem, we - guide writers - may come across. There is usually not much you can do about it other then to prove them wrong. Show readers that ELO doesn't matter and explain them the reasoning behind your decisions. Make sure that your guide is just as informative as a guide from high ELO Bard main and maybe the situation will get better.

I would! I actually forgot to include the item in the build in my latest guide overhaul, that's my bad but updated now so thanks! Yeah, it's a great item if enemies build a lot of magic resist. Magic penetration generally does wonders on Bard, much more valuable than pure AP.

Oh, sorry I've missed the boots! Always mobility boots, you always want to prioritize roaming when laning with Ezreal.

Oh, damn I completely forgot about starter items LOL. Always Spellthief's of course. Also, important thing to note is that as soon as you upgrade to Frostfang, you don't want to upgrade to Remnant/, not until you've already got at least 2 or 3 other full items.
